View Full Version : Steam issue?

So... Last night I decided to buy S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, after reading so much about it lately. Steam has it on sale for $5 currently, so I figured "Why not?".

Steam, however, is the most terrible application ever.

My internet connection is far less stable than it should be, either due to Comcast themselves not being that great; faulty hardware; or that my network is just somehow too big. This usually causes download speeds to shift greatly, downloading at 5kb/s one minute, then over 180kb/s the next. As well as my internet crashing at random intervals.

That's where my problem lies. For some reason or another, Steam doesn't seem to be saving the data it's already downloaded, and any time my internet happens to crash itself; I'm forced to redownload the file again. This will be the third time that I've downloaded 10% of the file, just to have it crash and needing to restart.

Is there something I can do to remedy this? Is this a common/known problem?
