What was the newest comic out when you discovered OOTS?

Personally, 663 (still one of the newbies)

Read it after reading ~17 actual strips and got really confused
about who the blue guys were and where's the order?

Good times..... Good times.... :smallcool:

That's why you've gotta Archive Binge right away when you find a new webcomic. :smalltongue:

Let's see… I think I found Order of the Stick when someone shared #102 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0102.html) on rec.games.frp.dnd. So, yeah, I've been here for 585 strips. Didn't start posting on the forums until much later, though. :smallcool:

Sometime before the Oracle, but after the trial.

I have no idea when though. My mind has been muddled by archive binges.

Lessee...after the dungeon of Dokuran, but before much else happened. I can't remember the exact strip #, but it was well pre-Miko, because I remember eagerly awaiting each of the many strips in that arc. I know that's a bit vague, but eh, I've got a terrible memory.

That said, archive trawling is a great thing to do whenever you discover a webcomic. Im a stickler for reading things in order.

#304 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0304.html) was the newest when I started reading, though the first comic I read was 203 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0203.html). There was a link to it in someone's signature over on the WotC forums.

My search-fu tells me I joined the forum sometime between 288 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0288.html) and 298 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0298.html)

Apparently I've been reading longer than I thought. I must have been near the end of the trial, because I do remember not having to wait for the crayons... or did I?

I'm so confused.

I read virtually the entire archive in one sitting. I have no idea which strip I read first, but I read about 3 in a row, then went to the beginning and read it straight through. I think I ended somewhere around strip 350, but that's not exact.

417. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0517.html)

I read through the entire archives over about a week. I read the newest comic every 100 strips or so to see if it would make any sense, and it never did. I kept waiting for those other characters with Haley to make an appearance, having no idea they were basically one-shot redshirts =p.

I started reading from #001, read everything in a week and the last one was one of the part when V became evil. I didn't fully realize that the comic was still being written and clicked on "Next" many times, tried to enter the next number in the address manually, suspecting a broken link... and then I got it. Since then, I'm obsessively checking for a new episode every day. I think Rich's holiday was shortly after that, so I re-read it one more time, this time in full, because at first I was skipping some parts that weren't that interesting for me, like Haley's internal dialogues, and read SoD (which was what brought me to the forum, because it was after SoD that I really felt the need to discuss it with other people.)

Good to know I'm not the newest here :smalltongue:

I remember that #20 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0020.html) was the strip that was linked to me that started me on OOTS, and its still one of my all time favorites. But #20 was not the most up to date strip when I started OOTS, I realy can't recall what the 'end' strip was at the time I first discovered OOTS however.... I think it was around the time of the Starmetal Quest.

I do remember feverishly checking this strip many many times every day during the battle of Sapphire City.... Rich is going to have a hard time ever matching that story line for pure epicness. The Shock of seeing how completely over the top Xykons power level was compaired to the OOTS (seeing him cast Meteor Swarm (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0442.html) for the first time!), and then coming to the realization that the City was going to fall..... it was just amazing.

I found OotS probably around strip 300 or so...

So yeah, I really love your sig.

On topic: I started from the beginning straight off I think. I hate reading the front page comic of a webcomic because it might have spoilers to some big plot twist that happened a few pages back, so once one is recommended to me I hit the archive as soon as possible. (I did the same with Goblins, 8-Bit Theater and Carpe Diem.)

The exceptions are gag-a-day comics like Penny Arcade.

I started reading the comic at strip 4 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0004.html).

I lurked at the forums since sometimes in the 200s, but I often didn't read the discussion threads because they were too long for my time, and didn't post anything at all. I finally registered only when the server was so slow; then I needed the option to turn off all those images :smallwink:

The very first comic I read was 223 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0223.html), I was linked to it. At the time, the latest comic was 370 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0370.html).
However, I took my time catching up (notably, I ordered the books to catch up with them, as reading too much on a screen gives me headaches) so the first update I had to wait for was 453 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0453.html)

Sadly, I never actually paid that much attention. I think it was about when Miko and the party were staying at the inn; I remember having to wait for comics the entire time Haley was cryptogramming. Might have been a little before that, but it's roughly when I started reading.

It took all of about 10 minutes in my next gaming session before the phrase "I GOT A 4!!!" was a standard fixture at our table. :)

Sometime pretty early. While I don't remember the exact number it was defiantly at some point while the OOTS was still in the dungeon of dorukan which means I following the strip nearly from the start. Obviously I never bothered registering for the forum onto much much later.

548 was the current comic. I was linked to the first comic by a Baldur's Gate forum. It updated to 549 during an archive binge, my first update that I waited for was 550. I remember seeing O-Chul thrown into the cage and thinking it was Roy, so when he died, I was wondering how they were gonna raise him, have goblins capture him and throw him into a cage. Up until the 530s I was really confused, then I realized that it was O-Chul

I starting lurking in the forums for 553 to see what was thought was in V's cage, and I think I created an account when Elan chose to stay in the net

Hahaha. you guys took a week to get through the archives?

I came in at around #623 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0623.html), absolutely didn't get the comic, read back about 5 strips, still had no idea what was going on, and went from #1 to #550 in the first night. Slept at 2am. Caught up properly the next day.

Archive binge is good, but being late means that you lose all the excitement of waiting for the next episode and discussing it, especially when they're cliffhangers or jokes. For some of the comics, I checked the respective discussion threads in the forum archives, like when everybody despaired over how Lawful Stupid Miko is after #214 and then they were proven wrong in #215. I regret not being there then and being fooled (for days) along with the rest of the audience. :smallsigh:

My first archive binge ended on #442 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0442.html), which still happens to be one of my favourite strips.

I picked a very interesting time to pick up the comic too, considering #443 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0443.html) came the next day. Definately had an impact at my happiness towards #665 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0665.html) when we finally got there.
