Digger (http://www.diggercomic.com/?p=3) is one of the more quality webcomics I've encountered on the internet. I've had it bookmarked for awhile, but I only just got around to reading it, and... well, I should have read it a lot sooner.

The comic is about a wombat that stumbles onto weird stuff and, subsequently, has adventures. It kind of reminds me of Bone, really, only with religious themes and interesting things done with gender roles. It manages to be both light and powerful in tone, and it is very real while still managing the thrills. Don't make the same mistake I did. Read it.

Seriously, go read it. Right now.

Alright, alright, I'm on it, okay?

I assume you want me to report back once I have formed an opinion, too?

Waaay ahead of you. Read it, loved it, started a Playground thread about it which shortly thereafter died out. :smalltongue:

I hope we see Shadowchild again. He's neat.

Webcomic threads around here do seem to die off awfully easily. Asides from the omnipresent DD ones.

I also started a thread about it here, shortly after the archives were freed. I don't think anyone else even replied to that one.

I'm guessing the update schedule doesn't help... 5 days a week when there's no strip, and the fact that a given strip can conceivably have only a couple lines of commentworthy dialogue happen, does not generally conduce a lively and active discussion...

Well if we keep letting them die on the first page, we might get almost as many Digger threads as Dominic Deegan threads. What should we name Digger IV?

New update. (http://www.diggercomic.com/?p=759) Anyone else get the feeling that Herne's going to get dragged back in to this before it's over?

Depends on the aggressiveness of the Dramatic Irony gods in that universe. (Might also depend on fan enthusiasm for this character.)

I do love the attitude taken by many of the characters toward prophecy/destiny, though. It's good to see people be sensible about such things.

Been reading Digger for a while.
Love the art.
Like the story.
And I can appreciate B&W because it's my medium as well.
Though sometime I miss color.

Well, I'm 50 pages in now, and I like it. The little shadow being is cute.

I do have to say that I find the protagonist herself bland, though.

In what sense?

Well, so far there's no real characterization beyond her being somewhat snarky/sarcastic.
Most of the conversations are about the characters she interacts with, which are a bit more unusual than she is, and when it comes to Digger's thoughts it often boils down to allusions to wombat culture.

Of course, I'm not very far into the comic at all and a slew of characters got introduced in those few pages, so that may change.

Found it through here. love it. reviewed it a bit on my webcomics page :D (in sig)

Also, I think a lot of these threads die (eg Gunnerkrigg Court) because... well, there's not much to say. "Oh wow I love today's comic" or "...need to wait for a few more to find out what's going on" do not a thrillinag and fast paced forum thread make.

ive loved this comic since 2007 and just recently did a re read and noticed that the background detail has Drastically decreased

compare this (http://www.diggercomic.com/?p=61) to the recent (http://www.diggercomic.com/?p=763)
