So, I'm stocking the sports section and this dude and his little daughter - 4 or 5, maybe - slowly roll up behind me.

Man With Russian Accent: You are wanting big balls, yes?
Daughter: -nods-
MWRA: Balls are nice, so fun to be playing with, da? [Ed. Note: I had to force a cough to avoid laughing at 'da')
Daughter: Uh-huh.
MWRA: You like playing with balls all day, da?
Daughter: Uh-huh.
MWRA: Well, you cannot have any balls! You keep breaking daddy's balls!
Daughter: But-but-
MWRA: Every time I give you balls, you break them. If I hide them, you find and then break! No balls for you!
Daughter: Daddy! Please!
MWRA: No. You cannot be having this. Only good girls get to have nice soft balls to play with.

At this point they strolled away, with the little girl continuing to protest. I... I still don't know how I didn't explode into laughter right there.

I have to give you props for not laughing. I wouldn't have been able to stop myself just from hearing the first sentence. I guess that's why I miss out on a lot of incredibly funny stuff because I start laughing before it even begins.

It was a joke skit they never planned to release. For, er, very obvious reasons.

I thought the show was getting canceled, so the writers decided to go nuts...

Also, the acting in that must have required balls of steel. I'd bust a nut trying to to laugh at all the innuendos. :smallwink:.

You are a much better person than I for not busting out laughing at that. I don't care that it's 4th grade humor, sexual innuendo is always hilarious, especially when people don't realize they're doing it.

I think balls used as a double entendre isn't humorous. I do think the idea of a Russian man being a jerk to a small child is kind of funny.

edit: this is the post that upgraded me to ogre in the playground

Well, I'll give you 2 lines. But that's it!

Person A: So this sausage looks good. Should we get it?
Person B. Nah, this sausage is too big. Trying to put it in your mouth just makes your jaw hurt.

And no, this developed into a completely different thread than my other 'overheard' thread.

Yeah... Funny convo about "balls" does not equal rather serious discussion about PC speech, etc. Altho even this thread couldn't escape the specter of race completely (what with the man being Russian and all).

A thread of "things overheard at work/in shops", a la Not Always Right.com would be perfectly reasonable, however.

In communist Russia, day makes YOU!!

(Notice the font and punctuation on YOU!! Always, always use exactly two exclamation marks. Italics if possible. And I shouldn't have to mention allcaps, so I won't. Oshi-)

I was talking about how the threads were different, but noticed the similarity that both involved race. It just happens. I wasn't saying it was bad per se, just pointing out that similarity. Like, I'm pretty sure there are thousands of funny things overheard in retail stores every minute, and most of them don't involve race. But both of the ones posted happen to have race involved. Just something odd I noticed. Not trying to save any princesses.
