Oh.

Fart :smallfrown:

Well, I started to read My Name is Q some time ago, I just didn't find it that good. It wasn't bad, just not as good as SSBB-list, so I never bothered to really try and get far. So we'll just see if I'll ever read this.

Man, Q, you come up with more comic ideas than I do. And on top of them you also actually pull them through.
What is this, your fourth comic here, oder even fifth?

It's at least his sixth, not including his contributions to various ABR plots. Aside from this and the three other comics mentioned in the opening post, Q has 2 failed comics, "Tales of the Q Man" (lasted 4 weeks, had 6 comics) and "KIB: Koopas in Black" (lasted 1 week, had 10 comics).

That was in the beginning of Q's cartooning career, before he started to improve. Even before he joined ABR. It gets better later.

First, I would like to say that, despite being a sequel, you don't really have to read My Name is Q to enjoy Smooth Moves. You may enjoy it more, because there is a lot of continuity gags and refences, plus the fact you will already know some of the characters introduced (spoiler!). There is a lot of things that have been greatly affected by My Name Is Q, but I will assume you haven't read that comic and remind everyone what the connection is. I will not assume you all know exactly everything about My Name Is Q, which is why I have included a short summary.

If reading My Name Is Q is painful for anyone, don't worry about it. I just hope this won't scare off any potential new readers. :smallfrown:

Anyway, new comic.

If it means anything, I liked it up until it stopped loading.

Also, I forsee a future romantic interest for Q, just so the Q-niverse (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Whoniverse) (hahaha!) can prove him wrong about that "never getting chained down" thing.

Wait, aren't I supposed to hate you right now for not knowing Doctor Who? :smallconfused:

Bah, not having a romantic interesting whatsover would definitely be more original. Aromantic characters are so rare in fiction.

My Name Is Q has, for some reason, the first post archives in image form. So when you open the page, you have to load all 200+ comics at once. This strain is probably what's crashing your internet connection.
Try taking the urls for the images directly from the archived version (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/archive/index.php?t-71239.html) and plugging them into your address bar to view each comic.

In fact, I can't even remember the last story I read with a main character who stank.
:smalltongue: I tell a lie, I can. The Ciaphas Cain has Jurgen.

Actually, the reason I did this is because originally I have a computer which has a parental control system that is kinda random about what links it thinks are safe for me to follow, and another computer that dosen't even care either way and assumes they're all bad. So if I put them all in image form, I wouldn't need to go to any other website and I could always see my own work.

Has he ever tried to fix the picture problem?

DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH WORK IT WOULD TAKE ME TO CONVERT 222 COMICS INTO LINK FORM! :smalleek:

Because I don't. But I'm guessng it would take somewhere between "all day" and "forever".

Something else people can do if they really want to read My Name Is Q but can't load all those images at once is you could hypothetically just go though the thread pages, because whenever I updated I would always bump the thread with the new comic on there seperete from the archives. I also updated pretty frequentely, so you wouldn't have to worry about finding them all.

No way do I buy that. 10 minutes would be impressive. Anything under a minute? No way. There are hundreds of comics there. Even if all you had to do was click on each comic, that would still take longer.

I suppose I could to the same! Only change the titles of the comics to links instead of having the links under it.

[EDIT]Wow. Formating is going to take a while.

I'm going to do a little bit every day. Until then, that thread is under contruction. Everything's in a link, but it looks pretty messy. :smallsigh:

[EDIT][EDIT]

It's at least his sixth, not including his contributions to various ABR plots. Aside from this and the three other comics mentioned in the opening post, Q has 2 failed comics, "Tales of the Q Man" (lasted 4 weeks, had 6 comics) and "KIB: Koopas in Black" (lasted 1 week, had 10 comics).

I just remembered I was going to respond to this! :smalleek:

Anyway, I wouldn't call those comics failed. Okay, maybe they are. But they have good reasons for failing. I didn't just decide to give up on them.

For Tales of the Q-Man, which was hosted on the Vince Dredicus Comics thread, I stopped updating because the original poster, Quinsar, decided to flee the Arts & Crafts forums and run back to the town and never update again. So if I had made any new comics they would go to waste because they would never be put into the archive. In fact, the last of that comic I've made was never put into the archive, and now must be searched for through the thread.

Plus that art style was a pain in the aaaaaassssssss. :smallsigh:

I have plans to restart it eventually using my new art program, but I have no idea when I'll do that. I currently have two comic on the go at the moment and I barely have enough time for those! Plus I actually have plans for the comic I'm going to make when Smooth Moves finishes, even though it'll be quite a while before that happens.

As for KIB, I'm just not cut out for a random gag comic. Unlike plot comics, I don't have an ending to look forward to writing, which means my intrest in it fades as it will never evolve. I mean, gag strips have evolved before (OOTS being a good example), but it would be difficult to have it evolve when the characters are in the same poses in every comic.

Still, I could probably start that one again too hypothetically. Again, I have no idea when I might do that.

Yeah, I guess it doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense, since neither of them have big noses, but it just sorta looked right to me. Like I couldn't do it any other way, you know?

Part of this is because, when I was developing the art style, the first style I tried to do was the style found in the graphic novel series Bone, or at least of the three cousins. GSQ's character is mostly inspired by Smiley Bone of that series, so I gave him a similar nose. Even when the art style shifted more towards Paper Mario stlye with a hint of South Park, that nose just stuck.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure, not 100% sure, but fairly sure that Pikachu cannot learn surf in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, in which the setting is mostly based on. He might be able to, though. I admit I didn't do the research. It was supposed to be a Pokemon in-joke referencing the Gym for getting the Thunder Badge in the original Pokemons, where an enemy Pikachu uses Surf and you're like "Whaaaaa?" and "DAMMIT!" because you're using Ground types to beat electric and Water type moves kill them, and since Pikachu cannot learn surf in that version of that game I played, it was clear that this was either a really bad glitch or a cheating on the game's part.

I tried tell them that fans would point out the changes, but they didn't listen. The Abra was changed to an Absol, and space was changed to a garden to make Gardevoir make more sense.

It's a pretty safe bet you're probably not going to be seeing the fifth panel happen the way it does in the My Name is Q flash forwards.

Wait...I think I counted pannels wrong... (you did, too, his SPOILERwifeSPOILER showing up most definitely did not happen recently.)

2, 4, 5, and 6 happened in MNiQ. 7, according to you, just happened. So that leaves 1, 3, and 8.

In 3, they're pokemon, so it's a safe bet that happens in SM. as for 1 and 8...well, you did say they weren't happening in order, so who KNOWS when THEY'LL show up! :smallsigh::smallwink:

The purple one is almost certainly shellder.

Also Q seems to have anthropomorphized the Pokemon a little, probably to make drawing them in that art style easier. For example torcoal standing upright and shellder having feet. There's probably more but I can't think of them on the top of my head.

I would simply like to point out that, never actually in comic, have I called them or refered to any of them as Pokémon. Well, I did mention the name of one Pokémon for a joke, but that was it.

These aren't Pokémon, but rather Poke-mon. It an obvious reference to Pokémon, but it's not. Like Spaceballs to Star Wars. They are all paradies of poke-mon. This is my excuse for anthropomorphizing them and why they all look pretty different from their Pokémon inspirations.

Just pointing that out. :smalltongue:

Too overwhelming for a Q?:smallconfused: I thought they were beings that were better than Gods. And everyone knows that Gods know everything, right? Therefore we can all hate them later when they do something that affects us negatively because they knew the outcome before they did that, right?

Anyways, I don't know why I ranted like that. Maybe from watching too much of Confused Matthew recently. But I would like it if Q cleared up my confusion over this really minor plot hole.

But I would like it if Q cleared up my confusion over this really minor plot hole.

Well, I don't usually like giving information out of comic instead of in comic, but I think it's going to be quite a while before I can manage to answer this in comic, so I'll go ahead and answer it now.

It has to do with the mysterious force field that blocks Q powers and knowledge. It turns out it doesn't just block Q powers and knowledge. It takes away what you used to have, which makes this even more threatening, as both Qs have now lost their powers forever by entering this forcefield. But also, any Q knowledge they had on individuals entering the forcefiled is all lost as well, so they don't even know Sarah and The One Who Must Not Be Named at all except from the fact they adventured together. This also includes at least three other individuals who have entered they island and now the Qs know nothing about their existance besides what they know from past adventuring expirience. However, it doesn't take away knowledge about the species as a whole because, while quite rare, Poke-mon exist in other places of the world as well. So while Q doesn't know about any of the individual inhabitants of the island, he does still have the knowledge of how Moves work.

This may seem like a bit of an ass-pull, but trust me, later on there would be a hell of a lot bigger plot hole if this wasn't like that.

Well, Pikachu (or the Poke-mon paradying Pikachu in this comic) cannot learn Pin missile. Meaning that the attack was actually used by the Poke-mon being thrown.

Now think of the massive level difference between a level two Poke-mon and an elite member of the second most powerful organization on the entire island.

Now think how the boss of a mob organization may not be quite as tough as the bodyguards he surrounds himself with.
