I sent what is quite possibly the most random and amusing text of my life.

For background, we briefly had a D&D game going with some college friends of Oz months ago. His character was a rather short halfling barbarian who frequently got into issues by just running headlong into situations. He got the nickname The Howling Halfing after getting attached to some weird creature shaped as a chest and playing cowboy and bucking bronco with it.

One of the funny things we thought up back then was having someone throw him into melee.

Oz and I were talking about it again tonight, and this is what I sent our DM:

"So this is totally random but could a character in our D&D game take weapon proficiency (halfling)?"

Answer: "rofl"

*snicker* I figured it'd be a good way to get rid of the penalty, and with practice it could make sense. Especially given his character was half the size (or less) than the others, except mine. They were all humans...I was a forest gnome, lol.

It is pretty random (ie, occuring out of pattern) since the last time this was under discussion was about 8 months ago. We haven't had a game since April at all.

(For clairification, it's the text asking about the weapon proficiency I was referring to as random.)

Don't forget the halfling +1 thrown weapon bonus.

Only +1? I should think a sentient missile would be more legendary than that.

No one has strength 19 or above, nor do any have Rock Hurling or similar. Alas.

Knowing my DM, he just may let us, though. Maybe we can weasel a +1 or +2 bonus out of it seeing as The Halfling Howler can aim himself. :smallwink:

The pre-req's for that are a little silly, but still, I like how this thread went down.

I could've sworn this is one of those things Mr. Welsh is no longer allowed to do.

The list (http://theglen.livejournal.com/16735.html).

Hmm... cat, Elf, no Halfling. That's surprising.

Now I have the urge to play a crazy cat lady.

on a similar note, according to a rules q&a thing done by wotc, if you throw a dwarf wielding a dwarfen thrower, he comes back.
