funny thing; recently I actually made "mom-balaya" (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0600.html) after getting inspiration from the comic
It was quite nice!
Now I am looking for more variations on the basic recipe because I like to try new things. So if you got a recipe for Jambalaya, or any food that appear in the comic, then post that here!

PS. I wonder if the Giant actually have a recipe, or if it just was an artistic addition to the comic.

Vulture Stew (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0476.html)

Ingredients:

1 adult vulture
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
6-8 potatoes, diced
12 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 bottle red wine, although rum might work better
4 large onions, coarsely chopped
Garlic - about six bulbs of the stuff, finely chopped. (The last thing you want is to be able to taste anything else in this mess.)
1 pot of water, not too clean
1 pocketful of mixed herbs (no time to pick and choose)
1 pinch Mama Bitterleaf's Secret +2 Circumstance Bonus Ingredient (a.k.a. pepper)

Clean the vulture (best achieved by rolling a natural 20 with an edged weapon) and pluck it (best achieved by holding it over a hot flame until the feathers scorch off, and you might want to hold your nose during this part. Come to think of it, it's probably a good idea not to breathe at all during the whole operation, but if that's not practical we recommend rubbing lots of eucalyptus oil and menthol on your upper lip.)

Chop the vulture into joint-sized pieces, small enough to hold in one hand, if you weren't too fussy.

Parboil the potatoes. Heat the oil in a large pot. Add the onions, garlic and potatoes, and fry until they're starting to go soft. Turn up the heat, add the vulture pieces and quickly brown on all sides.

Add the herbs, tomatoes and wine, and mix well. Top up the pot with water and heat for all you're worth. Basically, if you can get the water to boil before the MitD gets bored, you've won.

Simmer for as long as you can get away with. The longer the better. After about a month, it might even be fit to eat.

Bon appetite!

I posted a topic about jambalaya over in the Friendly Banter subforum.

Well, Jambalaya was quite prominent. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=128600)
