I'm unsure if this pic (http://www.diii.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=3733) is official, but what a resemblence!

...I'm sorry, I just don't see it.

I mean, the robe's the same color, but...

1) The hair seems to be an incorrect shade
2) The robe is otherwise almost completely different from V's
3) She breasts and a clearly implied gender. :smalltongue:

Cool picture though, at least.

The hair colour and outfit colour are a little like V's, but not that much. The hair is also shorter.

Clearly established gender, hair more blue that violet, different hair style...

Yeah, that's like saying Haley's in a movie because there's a red head that uses a bow.

I only see a vague resemblance, as well. Sorry, not a reference. Unlike certain other (http://www.wowwiki.com/Cavalier_Durkon) minor Blizzard characters...

Well she was definitely in Diablo I. Several times over, under different names.

That Wizard still looks hot. (Funny that; you never see ugly people in computer games, except for the zombiessss...)

Especially if we stick to the blizzard topic, i mean, Sylvanas?

That's because people don't like ugly. It exist, but if any of US got a say, it wouldn't. And it just so happens in games, people DO get a say.

Bethesda were obviously not listening when they made Oblivion. :smalltongue:

I have to agree with you on that point. There is a great similarity there.

Could you tell me what distinguishing characteristic this dwarf has that would lead you to beleive its Durkon.. one not shared with every other dwarf :)

No kidding there! :smalleek: Just have a look at Deviantart. You'd think they were (http://dark-cali.deviantart.com/art/Art-Trade-Erk-88248843) trying (http://whymeohgodwhyme.deviantart.com/art/Erk-Casting-A-Spell-36098308) to draw (http://avi17.deviantart.com/art/Erk-18573230) V (http://syani.deviantart.com/art/When-Lute-meets-Erk-73564103). :smallconfused:

Eh, this character doesn't actually have a character, hes microscopic, a quest giver at most. But it is something blizzard does, they throw in references to things in really random obscure ways.

Sadly, his official art (http://www.serenesforest.net/media/fe7illust/s/erk.png) doesn't look so much like V.

What a shame :(

The name ...? It isn't quite often one meets a "Durkon."

So then a dwarf named Durkon which has hair the wrong color, the wrong weapon, and acts nothing like Durkon is obviously an homage? :smallconfused:

Not to put too fine a point on it, I'm inclined to say "yes." It's not like you'll find Durkon in a book of baby names.

(If it was an elf named Vaarsuvius, would you need to know more than "elf named Vaarsuvius" to know where WoW got the name? How about a lich named Xykon? A halfling in EverQuest 2 named Belkar?)

(Conversely, the gnome character named Haley Copperturn? That's just a coincidence. Why? Because she's a gnome, not a human, her last name is nothing like Starshine, and, most importantly, because Haley isn't a unique name.)

I would argue that Durkon isn't really a unique name either. It is a rather popular name in Scotland, particularly in the dark ages / early Renaissance.

Really?

Hmm... That begs the question; Did Rich know that from the getgo?

Eh... I don't know if -popular- is the right term, but not really unique. In terms of the U.S, it was about as common as Harris, in terms of last names. It wasn't a Smith, Allen, or Jones, but it wasn't unknown.
