Well, I finally get my copy of Prototype, and settle in for a fun night of throwing cars at bystanders and running up buildings. Instead I get a whole lot of performance issues.

The sound is scratchy, especially during cutscenes, and the game itself lags and occasionally seems suspiciously ugly for such a recent game.

Is this a known issue? Is there a patch coming out soon?

And on a side note: Whatever happened to actually finishing a game before releasing it? :smallannoyed:

If you're getting sound issues, try this:

Go into the Sound/Playback options in your Control Panel. Select your default device and click Properties, then Advanced. Do you see the quality drop-down box? I had severe audio issues -- read: No sounds I could recognise as being intended -- during the initial cutscene because that drop-down box was set too high for the game to handle.

Presumably the entire game would have been plagued by such a problem, but I lowered the quality a few notches and tried again. It worked perfectly.

So, can no one tell me if this is a known problem, or if a patch is on the horizon?
