okay. I think we've all had an encounter like this. The DM presents you with something and you're wondering whether to abuse it or not. this is the thread where we talk about that. I'll go first.

My DM just let me buy a +1 scythe with 10' reach and greatsword stats. From what I've seen on these boards there are tons of ways to abuse this. If this is the case please don't suggest any. I don't need MORE temptation.

Did the Scythe lose the X4 crit? That seems a big loss. Though the Reach is nice.

I could be a gestalt wizard in a RL game. Using spell points. If I were to do so, I'd destroy it (the game, not the wizard).

Luckily, I've been wanting to try out my psionics revision in person, so...

The other side of the gestalt is, however, factotum. :smallamused:

The GM had an NPC pay us before we completed a job, we responded by going off his plot rails to sell the girl we were supposed to escort to the enemy so we could get paid twice.

The DM of one of my 4.0 games gave me a skewering spear.

His trademark is that his annoying NPC opponents tend to run away. All the time.

I used money to buy an effigy construct of a half-giant werebear 1st-level fighter in a low-level game. I figured the GM would reject it flat-out, but no ... so I equipped it with armor and a magic weapon, and a significant portion of the party's front line consisted of my WBL.

The same character had a psicrystal. I asked what would happen if it were destroyed, and the DM ruled that I could get it back for free very quickly. Ooookay then. The crystal had touchsense, good stealth, and telepathic contact with me, so a significant portion of the party's scouting was done by my class feature. (Okay, fine, my feat choice in 3.5. Still funny.)

I figured I had enough of a menagerie already (I have a hard time remembering to play more than one creature at once), so I didn't ask about Leadership or an intelligent Item Familiar / Ancestral Relic. But I bet I could've gotten a significant portion of the party's healing from the former, while using the latter to improve on my own character's blasting and battlefield control.

A greatsword with reach isn't really the most abuse-able thing. Can you still strike next to yourself? If not it isn't broken at all. If so...size categories is the easiest way to break it. Or so I think.

Overall: Meh.
