Wanting to start playing MotB again, and having no experience in making good high level characters (my last save ended in failure because I forgot to learn Mind Blank, I think), I was wondering if anyone else can cough up some ideas on character builds that work for a epic campaign, specifically MotB's.

I am planning on starting a new character, so please build a level 18 one.

Thank you in advance.

There are all sorts of build available here (http://nwn2.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Character_builds).

Try the Beginners Cleric (http://nwn2.wikia.com/wiki/Beginner's_Cleric_-_Ro(2),F(2),Clr(16),SL(10)). You really just need to learn to cast all the right buffs before wading into battle.

Thanks for that, but would you recommend any to specifically combat the Reds? My last character was a abjurer; I pretty sure it would of worked pretty well had NVN possessed counterspelling. :smallannoyed:

I always play fighter types in MotB, arrows + bow w/ elemental damage stacked on them could usually burst down the red wizards before they got their buffs up if they were at distance.

Knockdown works wonders if you start out right next to them.

Greatsword w/ elemental damage stacked on it cut down about everything else.

Poor will saves did screw me every now and again, but it's not to hard to buff that up with items or a paladin dip (love playing high charisma for more dialogue options).

Firstly you should throw out some summons to distract them and their supporting gnolls. Give Safiya the orglash crystal, while you rely on your own summon monster 8 or 9 (get these out before you start the convo and combat, it helps to speed run through the convo).

After that, if you are playing a wizard type, your best bet is to breach their defenses (possibly all at once with Safiya's area disjunction) and then instagib them with wail/finger of death/forceful hand, in a sort of 1-2 punch maneuver.

If you are a cleric it gets a bit trickier, since I can't exactly remeber how the fight went down. but a couple of to keep in mind is that
1) you can shut down their spellcasting with silence. If you cast it on them they get a will save which they will likely make (although if they fail they are pretty much screwed), but if you cast it on the ground or on an ally, they don't.
2) you can go ethereal to avoid aggro. and in fact with ethrealness you can make your entire party ethereal.
3) you can run faster than them with persisted haste.

So one really screwy trick that *might* work is to cast persisted haste on the whole party, and silence on safiyas familiar. At the start of the fight cast etherealness. Get safiyas familiar to follow the red wizzies around to keep them in a zone a silence. He won't be attacked since he is ethereal, and he can keep up with them since he is hasted.
