So I got talking to a guy I recently met at a local FLAG, and he got to telling me about an adventure he has been wanting to run in World of Darkness. Anyway, long-story short bits and pieces inspired me into an idea of my own.

Summary of the idea:
-Nearing the Winter Holidays I tell the group we are having a holiday one-off game.
-I tell them to write up a lv.1 commoner (if any of the military vets in the group are there I will roll dice for no reason, and tell them they can make a lv.1 warrior instead).
-I tell them to buy no equipment, to give it no name or personality, and to just do the basic stats and skills.
-I will tell them to times their HP by 10.
-I will then start the game, and in the process describe them as "focusing in" on a ever more Out-of-Game familiar group of people sitting at what I hope they recognize as the food court at our local major mall (it is a toursit attraction...) here in Central Florida (aka the Florida Mall) which is usually only 3 minutes from where we game.
-I DM say "Suddenly you hear scream. People are beginning to rush the glass doors to get into the mall. Roll initiative!".
-I then proceed to tell them to erase their skills, I hand them a card detailing their characters' skills (as I feel are appropriate for those PCs), and tell them to "Write your names on those character sheets...".
-I then tell them your equipment is whatever you have on you or in your pockets right now, and no reaching for stuff!
-I then interrupt them in their (hopeful...) confusion and DM say "you hear a loud shatter as a wave of zombies just broke themselves through the locked glass doors leading into the mall (which is in the food court!). "

So what do you all think? Is this at all doable?

I am thinking perhaps I can spend an entire day mapping the mall? Seeing what is in each store, and maybe taking a few picks to see what I need to stat up? But boy that would be hard...

Here is the Florida Mall's site (I believe this is the stores directory page:

Here is the map for the Florida Mall I believe:

Any thoughts on this at all? It looks like a pretty big undertaking for a one-off I fear. Please stating mall items for D&D weapons/whatever might be impossible...

ps. I was wanting the "final boss" to be the cliche holiday sit on Santa's lap guy as a huge bloated zombie or something towering over the others, and tossing them around like nothing. Godd idea? Bad idea?

This sounds epically fun, but be careful about using real-life locations in the game, the over-sensitive fools at the FBI might think you are a terrorist if they ever hear of this.

Yeah, works great. I've done one-shot call of cthulhu games with the players playing themselves, it was great fun.
