I have a kobold whose family is, due to backstory, a cross between humans and dragons, and therefore has the [human] and [dragonblooded] subtypes. Ergo, he (and his brother, a backup character in case my current positive energy evolved undead necropolitan kobold dies) can technically qualify for Jotunbrud (since this isn't Faerun, regional feat prereqs are waived).

This post (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7339035&postcount=40) got me to thinking about a rather interesting build:

Male kobold psychic warrior 2 [human, dragonblooded] with compression and expansion, using the web enhancement from RotD (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060420a) and Slight Build. Take Jotunbrud (Races of Faerun) and the Touchstone feat: Sunken City of Pazar (Sandstorm).

He now may elect to count as being Diminutive, Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, Huge, and Gargantuan.

The way he does this?

His actual size is Small. Slight build lets him count as Tiny. Touchstone (alternately: expansion) allows him to count as Medium. Compression gives him Diminutive. Jotunbrud lets him count as Large. Expansion pushes off of Jotunbrud to allow him to count as Huge. Touchstone (springboarding off of both expansion and Jotunbrud) allows him to count as Gargantuan.

At level 7, he can become Fine (compression) and Colossal (expansion).

The DM already approved it, meaning it's legal in my game.

Question is, what size is he, actually? What size of equipment does he use? And what class should I gestalt him with?

His equipment changes with him, I believe.

You have created Giant-Man. Neat.

Yeah, his equipment will change size with him. As the base creature is a kobold, he's a small size creature, so you're purchasing at that size.

Small sized armor.

wouldn't Jauntibrood (or however it is spelled) let you use a medium weapon?

You made The Atom. Glorious. XD Although I kinda wish you'd done it with something that wasn't a kobold.

Get a Sizing weapon, so it'll keep size with you just in case one of those spells/powers doesn't make your weapon change size.

You could do the same thing by make a monk with the Sizing enchantment on his unarmed strikes.

If those powers all only allow him to *count* as the size, then simple.
He is, was, and always is at any point, small. It's just that his shear awesomeness and stubborn will distory reality itself a little.

I'm sorry, every time I see "BigMcLargeHuge" I keep thinking MST3k, and it's killing me (in a fun laughing way). XD

Not sure about the touchstone feat, but assuming Jotunbrun works like powerful build expansion does change gear size (most spells that are increase size do) so it looks like small armor (since you are small) and a medium weapon.

You know what I'd do?*

I'd gestalt into Stoneblessed (Goliath), and after completing the class, I'd go Barbarian, taking the Goliath substitution level that allows you to increase in size during rage.

* - From the standpoint of giving more size changing, not optimization.

I approve.

I think that if you "Count As Large Whenever Being Large Would Rock," as half your abilities seem to do, then it means that while your gear doesn't change size, you can use whatever you want. So when you decide your Kobold is counting as Large, he can pick up a Large greathammer or whatever and swing it no problem.

Hmm. At level 7, he could count as Colossal for bull rushes, trips, disarms grapple checks, reach, base weapon damage, and for things like Swallow Whole, but he'd count as Diminutive for AC and attack bonuses, Hide modifiers, places he can squeeze into, and for prices on things like equipment and such.

His space would count as either Colossal or Diminutive, depending on which serves his purposes from moment to moment?

I think that might be how it works. Maybe.

So does this mean he has 30 foot reach (well, 20 feet long and 30 feet tall) while being the size of a speck of dust in terms of being spotted?

This is both disturbing and awesome.

This is both disturbing and awesome.Just imagine him wielding a whip and those claws/bite with the Aberrant Reach feat...

Or maybe give him a level of monk and have him be Viagraman kobold!

This thread is made of win.

Seconded to gestalting Stoneblessed (Goliath) --> Goliath Barbarian RSL. Every size from Fine to Colossal+...how many more plusses can we figure out how to add?

Spiked-chain tripper fighter would be a good option for this guy from the CO standpoint.

Also, check out the selection of feats and options for small characters versus things two or more sizes larger than them. Underfoot Combat, Confound the Big Folk, etc., etc. There's a lot of them and several of them rock.

Is there some more reliable way to get the [human] subtype without backstory/DM-fiat, LA, or feat waste-ature?

I wouldn't mind adding him as a potential character in a competition of some sort. Test of Spite, maybe?

Not that it matters too much, but Slight Build only allows you to count as a size smaller for weapons, opposed checks, and squeezing. A tiny damper on an otherwise hilarious idea.

Jotunbrud does not equal large size or powerful build. You count as large for your opposed rolls on tripping, disarming, and seeing if something can eat you, IF it's advantageous.
Jotunbrud does not affect weapon size.
If jotunbrud said "one size larger" rather than "size large" it would be nicely stackable with enlargement, expansion etc. Making the enlarged human count as HUGE if it's advantageous.
