Our group has a modular DM screen made outta 3 ring binders. We have lots of neat tidbits inside, but I wanted to put some nice stuff on the players' side, too.

I was gonna make some nice art of everyone's characters, but what kind of references would be good for players?

The DM's PC kill count? :smallamused:

Art of the characters is pretty cool. It would also be cool to have an small white board or other erasable surface where you could write their next objective.

Show Baboons. Lots of them. Keep hinting about the abyss. Wink wink, you will understand. Never do anything with demogorgon.

A big sign saying "No you can't set it on fire, stop asking."

Put useful data, like the penalties/bonuses for being shaken, prone, frightened, fatigued, on higher ground, & c.

AND HE DOESN'T LIKE YOU!

This is why I always turn to Asmodeus...

Artwork of characters dungeoneering (to remind people what the game is about) + a personal DMing motto. Mine is: "The rules serve the game, not vice versa"

I made an XP meter for the players side of my screen. It's an index card with a little red pointer that shows how close the players are to their next level. The labels are: yay new level, bored of new level, halfway there, almost leveled, and DING!

I'd rather have the villain of the current arc looming over them. or perhaps a shadowy image of them, that becomes clearer and clearer as the weeks go by.
