Hey everybody,

So my dad and his friends normally play Runequest but the DM wants to take a break. They said that a D&D 3.5 adventure would be fun as long as I made it really cheesy because really they see the D&D system as super hero, ub3r pwn3d kind of system. Really it kind of is when compared to Runequest as well. I like both systems and I usually DM D&D for all of my friends so I'm not really new to it. I just was wondering if I could get some help.

I know it's kind of lame to ask for story ideas but whenever I try to think up really cheesy ideas for the story line I draw a blank. I know there are some sites with lists of them but I can't seem to find them. Any links or ideas would come in handy.

My current ideas are that it starts in a tavern called Crossroads with all of the party members automatically are friends. It's level 2 or 3 and the party currently contains a lesbian elf sorcerous, an Int 6 half-orc Barbarian who comes up with all of the masterful and tactical plans, the drunk/cheery halfling rogue, the bland and plain human fighter and the buxom female dwarf cleric with a very prominent beard.

You could always pull a toned-down version of the Head of Vecna (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20070401a)... or, what with the holidays not far off, have one in which Santa (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20011222x) is Kidnapped (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20021225x) by Ninjas; Are You Bad Enough Adventurers to Stop Them?

...the Calzone golem. You MUST use the Calzone golem adventure. It's somewhere on WOTC's archives.

You mean "Something's Cooking"? (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article1.asp?x=dnd/oa/oa20010413a,3)

Careful with it - the fiendish encounter (you'll see what I mean) is very dangerous for 2nd level characters.

EDIT: Bah! Ninjas!

Actually, Tomb of Horrors is surprisingly cheesy...

Well, IMO, cheese is a state of mind, so it's really up to the presentation of the DM to set the mood-gun to Cheesy. That being said, you can help the cheese flow by including as many blatant fantasy & gaming cliches as you can cram into a single adventure. Also, a bit of silliness can amp up the Cheese Factor, especially if the silliness is at the expense of the players. You've already got the We-All-Met-In-A-Tavern, the Bearded-Lady-Dwarf, & the Idiot-Barbarian, but let's see what other triteness we can throw in:

A dragon hoarding treasure (Extra Cheese: the "treasure" is actually a pile of chocolate coins)
A damsel-in-distress (Extra Cheese: the damsel is a whiny princess who doesn't wanna be rescued)
A senile wizard (Extra Cheese: his spells are ridiculous, inappropriate, & often dangerous; "Oh, what's on this note I wrote? I prepared explosive runes? I don't remembe-")
A fey elf (Extra Cheese: two words - Camp Gay (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CampGay))
A monster disguised as a non-monster (mimics, cloakers, & other such goofiness)

I'm sure there are many others that I could mention, but this should get you started.

Offcourse you must have the lich wizard MALIC THE VILE, the evil overlord in black armour with a great scary axe LORD SUMFINSCARY and Dave.
Dave likes to throw rocks at cars.
... he might be sniffing glue but we're not sure.

might wanna switch cars with horses.

I think awakened animals are really fun, especially when you have larger animals play as Factotums or other skill monkeys. A Bear making a sneak attack is pretty awesome, right?
