You start at the beginning of floor 2, in the circular hallway with a pedestal in the center. There is a door (not lockable this time around, since your character is fully rested) in the northwest corner of the room.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 12:17 AM
"Dragotron, team metal will remember your sacrifice for ever!"

Dogs some distance behind me, I advance to the door.

[roll0]
[roll1]
I open the door if everything is fine:
[roll2]

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 12:20 AM
Everything looks normal.

Opening the door reveals a hall that runs to the north for twenty feet before turning east. There is a backpack five feet outside the door.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 12:26 AM
I search the backpack (20) and take the vials, shoving the backpack into the sack and start advancing down the hall.

If I encounter the same kind of cold traps as did Dragotron back in the day, I will touch myself, pumping my body with unholy energy until I am fully healed. I will check with the dogs that are following behind if they were hurt by the trap.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 12:27 AM
How are you searching this time? Visual only?

Sliver
2009-11-24, 12:29 AM
Taking 10 will find me nothing, as I am sure that those magical traps have higher DC then the ones in first floor, and those already had higher then DC20.

So I just plainly advance, hoping that the unlimited healing I posses for myself will do the trick and will be more careful next time otherwise...

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 12:31 AM
You don't set off any traps during your walk.

Blahblahblah, long turn, out of sight, blah blah blah, turns south or goes east, your choice.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 12:34 AM
"Dragotron.. Did something go wrong? You said traps!"

Looks behind at the walkway he just came through "Probably something is hidden there.. We shall check it some later time" he tells his dogs and advances south, as did Dragotron before him.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 12:36 AM
There's a translucent green figure dancing fifteen feet in the air five feet down the hall.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 12:39 AM
"Are they really harmless as you claimed, Drago.." Platypus takes out his collapsible pole and connects the pieces, then he will reach out with the pole to touch the figure.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 12:45 AM
It continues dancing, completely unperturbed by your poking.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 12:48 AM
"Maybe a warning, a sign.. Or someone wants to make me paranoid.. screw you!" Platypus continues his advancement down the hall.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 12:51 AM
You step on a pressure plate five feet beyond the figure. A single dart shoots out of the wall, catching you flatfooted.

[roll0] [roll1]

The hall turns west or continues south at this point.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 12:54 AM
The dart is blocked by Platypus's heavy plating and I advance south, while examining the dart.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 12:56 AM
The hall continues south for another fifty feet before you are faced with a choice. You can continue south or turn east.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 12:58 AM
I continue advancing south. Was the dart poisoned?:smalltongue:

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 01:01 AM
Yessir, it sure was. :smallamused:

After another twenty feet, you're faced with another choice. You can continue south or turn west.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 01:03 AM
"Oh stupid halls! Don't you understand you can't seduce me to turn from my chosen path?" I continue south.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 01:12 AM
After another thirty feet, you're faced with another choice. You can continue south or enter a short hallway on the east with a door at the end of it.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 01:14 AM
South. I will return in about 12 hours.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 01:17 AM
After another fifty feet, the hall turns west. It runs in that direction beyond the range of your light. There is a door on the south face of the hall after ten feet, and you can make out that there is another translucent dancer fifty feet down, fifteen feet in the air.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 08:20 AM
I search the door.

Search 20 for 28.
[roll0]
[roll1]

Then I command the dogs to move to the door in front of me, while taking out my sword and holding it in one hand, and opening the door from behind the dogs using my pole.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 10:16 AM
Poking the door causes a color spray trap to go off, covering you and your dogs one of your dogs in its effect (you can't fit all of them in front of you). Roll five two will saves.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 10:20 AM
That means 28 isn't enough to find this trap?:smallannoyed:

*blink, blink*

Sorry, first post of the morning. Still getting the sleep out of my eyes.

You found it before setting it off, but failed to disable it on your first try.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 10:25 AM
I try again, after moving my dogs further to not get caught by the trap:

[roll0]

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 10:30 AM
This time you set it off. Will save. :smalltongue:

Sliver
2009-11-24, 01:18 PM
MoPM concentration, as I assume I can due to knowing of the trap [roll0] with my luck, I have a great chance of failing. Or a success by a lot more then necessary..

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 01:24 PM
[roll0]

One moment.

Are you opening the door after the trap goes off?

Sliver
2009-11-24, 01:59 PM
With a dog in front and the others behind while I ready the sword and open it with the pole.

Tanaric

Per Arena rules, you can only have one attack animal (technically, all you can have is a mount in addition to a companion, so those dogs would have to be of the riding variety). If you want your dogs for guarding, that's fine. If you want them for biting people, that's not fine.

If this causes you to retroactively change your purchases, go ahead.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 02:16 PM
Then I will just remove them. I will not be purchasing anything at the moment. Then it is me vs mister storm.

Nonlethal electric damage: [roll0] fort half.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 02:32 PM
I move back into the hall.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 02:33 PM
Where, exactly? You're already out in the hall at the start of the encounter.

Sliver
2009-11-24, 02:34 PM
Back the way I came, 5ft.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 02:36 PM
Alright. That puts you one square away from the corner. Is that all you're doing for your turn?

Sliver
2009-11-24, 02:37 PM
I will ready an attack, if I can, as I only moved 5ft.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 02:48 PM
The storm floats down to C-1, +5 elevation, and releases a thunderous boom, followed by two bolts of lightning.

[roll0] sonic damage, fort half.

[roll1] electricity, reflex half.

[roll2] nonlethal electricity, fort half.

Sliver

What's the DC anyway?

Assuming it is low enough for me to get to it.. I run forward, initiating punishing stance, Sapphire Nightmare Blade and using inspiration to get attack bonus.

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 03:55 PM
Charging is a full round action that lets you make a single melee attack. It's not movement plus a standard, so you can't activate a maneuver during a charge. Does that change what you want to do?

Sliver
2009-11-24, 03:56 PM
Nope. Blinky! How I missed him..

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 03:59 PM
Where does the 3d6 on your attack roll come from? All I see is your greatsword, which is 2d6.

Edit: Also, your signature is outdated. :smalltongue:

Sliver
2009-11-24, 04:00 PM
Punishing stance. If I couldn't have it on for some reason I missed [roll0]

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 04:01 PM
Oh, you can add it to weapon damage if you want, but I thought that's what the 1d6 below your weapon roll was for?

Sliver
2009-11-24, 04:03 PM
No I roll it together with weapon damage because it is always added. The other d6 was from SNB that may or may not be added..

Tanaric
2009-11-24, 04:05 PM
Right, gotcha.

Blinky gets smacked hard, and retaliates by biting at you. [roll0] for [roll1]

Anyhow, the walls both seem solid. Opening the door reveals a 25x50 room, with a row of chests along the bottom wall. There's a door near the northwest corner of the room, which you're just outside of.

Sliver

Is there a reason you decided that the challenge that killed off my character the first time needed to be beefed up?

Tanaric
2009-11-25, 03:07 PM
I didn't change anything about it. :smallconfused:

Three riding dogs, leather barding. Nothing's different from Tavar's version, except maybe where he placed them in the room.

Sliver
2009-11-25, 03:11 PM
Nonsense.

Yep. Inside, you find 3 attack dogs, already growling.
When I rolled 15 he himself said I was close to hitting. Also, they didn't magically squeezed passed me to be able to flank. They even got effected by cover just as I was.

Tanaric
2009-11-25, 03:34 PM
I looked over the notes I sent Tavar, and it doesn't mention barding. That's my mistake, not his. However, the encounter was always meant to include barding, so that's a nonargument.

You're quite right about the doorway, though. My wits were fuzzed by alcohol when I did that, I think.

Sliver
2009-11-25, 03:37 PM
Sorry for getting upset, I was just annoyed about getting yet another game cut off due to something I believed is unreasonable..

From what point shell we restart then?

Tanaric

Right after the initiative rolls, since those were the only things unaffected.

The dogs move into the doorway and don't flank you this time, because they're good doggies that respect the rules this time around.

You have cover from attacks 1 and 3.

Is that attack roll including the bonus from SNB already?

Sliver
2009-11-25, 05:22 PM
Isn't SNB just makes the target FF for this attack? No this is normal attack bonus, just lower it by 2 and ignore the last damage roll due to failed SNB..

*blink, blink*

Okay, I need to get my nose out of this champagne.

Hit, and the dog looks pretty winded. Doesn't stop it from taking one last bite at you before passing out, though. [roll0] [roll1]

300 xp, no loot save for the barding.

Ahh, dogs, finally I managed the handle animal check to teach you the stay trick.... Can I switch around that skill points btw?:smalltongue: Just remembered about it.. Also, I never used the other maneuver yet, so could I pretty please switch that out?

Anyway, It is pretty late so I'm off. Enjoy getting drunk!

Tanaric

Feel free to reallocate the points from Handle Animal. As for the maneuver - which one?

Sliver
2009-11-25, 11:57 PM
Minotaur Charge, I didn't prepare it once yet..

Tanaric

Go ahead and switch it out if you like. What are you swapping it for?

Sliver

Sliver

Could I get a map of the explored area please, if its not too much trouble?

Tanaric
2009-11-30, 03:16 PM
In a bit, sure. Will edit post with map when I'm done.

Edit: This should be accurate as of the encounter with the dogs:http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/3397/sliver.jpg

Edit2: Hm. Looks like I switched from sunrod light to torch light midway through the blacking out. Oh well. If you're curious about a hallway, just ask or reference my previous posts on them.

I will exercise for 5 minutes, facing the door, to switch SNB with steely strike. Assuming I was at room 14, I will check what was deeper east in the hall (Don't remember if it just ended or not) and then go on the southern hall. And sleep. Will post in the morning. Good night

Tanaric

At the split, you see that the hall goes south beyond sight. Ten feet down, it splits east. Fifteen feet down, there is a translucent green figure dancing in the air fifteen feet above you.

The hall continues to the east for sixty feet from the split before turning north.

Sliver
2009-12-01, 12:37 AM
I will go south (ignoring the east split for now)

Tanaric
2009-12-01, 07:38 PM
Sixty feet south of the dancer, the hall turns east. It runs east for forty feet before turning north. It runs north for fifteen feet before ending in a door, with a split to the east after ten feet.

As you pass the split, you see that it runs east for twenty feet before ending in a door.

You find no traps on the door you search.

Opening the door reveals the following room:{table]A_|B_|C_|D_|E_|F_|G_|H_|I_|J_
1||||||||||
2||||||||||
3|||1|||||||
4||||||||3||
5|2|||||||||
6||||||||||
7||||||||||[/table]

There is a door at G-7, which you are just outside of, and another at G-1.

There are three small green reptilian creatures inside the room, their beaked faces all immediately turning to look at you with sharp eyes.

Roll initiative.
