Nightshield only prevents 5 damage per level of the caster.

According to Spell Compendium, it negates magic missile, not reduces the damage by 5.

Readied action goes of before you toss your rays, Fyrin moves out of LoS as he moves into R20

Fyrin finishes his movement in S20

That should nullify whatever spell you cast, due to the target being out of LoS. Done?

Where does the +3 come from, and how did you manage to get a spell that does 1d4 per caster level to do 3d4? Sudden Empower just lets you increase the numerical effects by 50%.

Previous rounds have informed me that they handle the empower part by adding a half die. Empowered 1d4 becomes a 1d4 plus a 1d2, so an empowered 2d4 would become 2d4 plus 1d4. If I'm incorrect in this, then there are a lot of matches in the last few months that are also wrong. As for the +3, it's the Warmain ability. Any spell he casts that deals damage deals an extra 3 points (equal to his INT modifier).

Ok, the Warmage thing makes sense, but Burning Hands does 1d4 damage at level 1, not 2d4. That would make it the first example of 1d4 + 1d2 + 3. It doesn't particularly change my turn since even the 11 won't kill me, but it might matter if I can't kill you this turn. Oh, and I just realized that I get a Reflex save for half damage as well. [roll0] I take it it's DC 14? (10 + spell level + ability mod) Forgot I have an extra +2 to the save from Hatred but it doesn't matter in this case.

Ok, Sam's at -2 and still on his feet due to Rageclaws. Go ahead. Sorry for being a pain, that just looked really odd to me that 1d4 became 3d4+3. :smallwink:
