CoA III: The Masked Avengers recruitment

Note: Those who have already submitted a character in the previous game's thread need not do so again. I'll copy-paste their characters here.

This time the characters are super heroes, super villains and super anti-heroes. The rules are basically the same as last time, but flavor-wise, the game is a lot different. Your character submission must include the items outlined below.

Important: The character (including the name) must be appropriate for the theme. No joke characters. If I get a super chicken that shoots lightning bolts from its cloaca, you will be banned from the game and your spot will be given to someone else.

Your masked avenger must be your original creation, though she/he may resemble famous super-powered characters if you have no original ideas. :smalltongue:

---

Masked avenger name: [e.g. Superman, Spiderman, Wolverine...]

Outfit and appearance: [e.g. Red full body spandex suit, goggles.]

Powers and skills: [3-5 relevant powers and skills; each power/skill must be a separate entry, a simple list won't do. Example below:]

Bone claws

Wolverine has three retracting bone claws housed within each forearm. Each time he extrudes them, they cut through his flesh, causing pain.

Martial arts

During his time in Japan and other countries, Wolverine became an expert of virtually all forms of martial arts and is familiar with and experienced in virtually every fighting style on Earth.

Affiliations and public opinion: [How famous/infamous is your masked avenger and for what reasons? Which side of the law is she/he? Does he go solo or is he part of a team of super-powered heroes/villains?]

Secret: [NOTE! Send the secret in a PM! This time the secret may be one of the following: identity (e.g. he is Peter Parker) or vulnerability (allergic to kryptonite).]

---

Game rules:

I Character creation

1. Post your character's name and a description in the recruitment thread.
1.1 The name should be appropriate for the theme of the game.
1.2 The description should include at least the character's favored method of killing. Other details on his appearance, personality and modus operandi are also appreciated.
2. Send the GM your character's secret in a PM. What the secret is depends on the theme of the game, but it is usually a secret identity or vulnerability.

II The game round

1. The GM posts a list of all remaining characters, and a list of secrets that are connected to those characters.
2. Send the GM a PM with a guess. If you can guess correctly which secret belongs to which character, that character dies at the end of the round. Write your guess in the following format: [character] is [secret]
2.1 Once you've sent your PM, you cannot change your guess. The only exception to this rule is that if your target is invalid, you can change your target.
2.2 You can only target characters and secrets listed by the GM.
2.3 You cannot target your own character, but you can target your character's secret.
2.4 The deaths occur simultaneously, and thus it is possible for two characters to kill each other, or even for all remaining characters to die on the same round.
2.5 If two or more players kill the same target, it counts as an assisted kill for each of the players.
2.6 If you don't send a PM to the GM, or your PM does not have a valid guess in it, you are considered to be absent on that round. Two consecutive absences result in auto-elimination.
2.7 You are allowed to send your guess in advance if you know you'll otherwise be absent on a round. You may include conditions as necessary to avoid choosing an invalid target.
3. You may roleplay your character in the game thread. It is not obligatory, but it is recommended.
4. You may make pacts with other players. A pact may be public (made in the game thread) or secret (made in PMs). In either case, any such pacts are non-binding.
5. When 48 hours (2 days) have passed or everyone has sent in their PMs, the GM narrates the deaths and lists all guesses made that round. The guesses are listed in the following format: [character A]: [character B] is [secret] (miss!/HIT!)
6. The GM checks how many players are left.
6.1 If there are no characters alive, the game is over and there is no winner.
6.2 If there is one character left, that player wins the game. If there are two characters left, the one with more kills wins; if it's still a tie, unassisted kills determine the winner.
6.3 If there are three or more characters left, a new round begins.

Masked avenger name: Mr. Stoks

Outfit and appearance: He wears a black suit with black tophat. He wears sunglasses to cover his eyes, even though his appearence has been seen on more then one occassion. He also carries around a cane with him that he uses masterfully as his weapon of choice.

Powers and skills:

Telekinesis - He is able to move objects with his mind, easily cruching walls of steel or stopping bullets before they hit him. He can even levitate himself, although he can't fly. He can also form tangible shields around himself or others. Usually, if he can think it in his mind, it forms in real life. It's power is in its flexibility rather then its strength.

High-Grade Technology - Everything on Mr. Stocks serves a purpose. He has many tricks up his sleeves, whether for trapping or breaking in, he has what he needs. He always comes prepared.

Mind-Pushing - In addition to reading minds, he can also implant thoughts into individuals. For example, if he was captured, he could implant the thought that he was actually FBI into the man. While useful, he can only do it for a few people at a time. Eye contact is not necessy, but very helpful. Stronger minds are resistant to its effect, but not immune. Crazy minds are immune.

Affiliations and public opinion:
Mr. Stoks prefers to steal for his own personal gain. Power doesn't really appeal to him, but wealth does. He loves stealing; seeing if the police can catch him. As of yet they have not. He lives in wealth and fame around the world, always moving constantly due to being wanted.

will try to make it better. only a rough draft.

Copy-pasting characters from the other thread:

Masked avenger name: Renegade

Outfit and appearance: Renegade is dressed in long black coat and silver/gray full body suit that is very steamlined and smooth. His face is filled with cybernetics, with his jaw fully replaced with metal plates, eyes clearly artificial (metallic in colour) and even has a visor that can be closed down in combat. All in all his head resembles futuristic helmet. His black hair is hanging back in long spikes, and every bit of him save his face is covered by the bodysuit.

Renegade carries finely decorated katana and wakizashi on his belt. The weapons have futuristic look on them, having technological gadgets embedded into their hilts and near the blades. He also carries two combat knives on his sleeves in case he loses his swords during a fight.

Powers and skills:

-Cybernetic body: Renegade's body is for most part (exept for brain, most of his face and hair) bio-organic contruct that is much more durable and agile that that of normal human's. It allows him to sustain incredible amounts of damage and regenerate over time. In addition, his reflexes and speed are of superhuman levels: he can block most solid ranged attacks (bullets, throwing knives, thrown cars) out of the air and move in lighting speeds, at times even too fast for normal eye to follow. Moving much faster than normal human tires him, though, and his regeneration and damage-sustaining capabilities can be beaten with through beating, though it takes very, very much damage to do so.

-Close-combat weapon mastery: Renegade is accomplished user of most known close-combat weapons, though he prefers to use his swords or knives whenever possible.

-Vibroblades: Renegade's katana and wakizashi are fitted with technology that turns them into vibroblades. In short, they can smoothly cut through most known substances.

-Optic camouflage: Renegade's cybernetic body houses built-in optic camo that allows him to turn nearly perfectly invisible, as well as dampening any and all sounds within fife meters of him. This can also be a drawback, as clever opponent can use the silence to catch him off-guard with surprise attack.

-Lighting field: Renegade can create electricity from his body, which he can use to either amplify his sword attacks or create area effect electric blasts. He can also improvice with this power, for example turning fire alarms of the building on and then shock the whole place when it is soaked by sprinklers.

Affiliations and public opinion: Renegade's existence is nearly a myth to general public, but goverment and heroes & villains know about him. This is caused by his past: he was experienced, though young soldier that was experimented upon to create perfect soldier, but grew sickened to being used like a tool and broke army's and goverment's hold on him, starting to lead his own life. Though officially a wanted fugitive, he is very much hero at heart and helps them whenever possible. At times he does operate on very "morally gray" areas when opposing the goverment and system, though.

Knifeman... or whatever.

Outfit/Appearance:
Knifeman is dressed in jeans, a shirt and a Halloween mask of a witch. He has a belt going from his right shoulder to his left hip with several knives in it. They look like he just bought a set of kitchen knifes, and just put those there. He probably left out the spatula. He's probably a teenager under that mask, his perpetual slouch and the fact that his body hasn't quite bulked out yet would point towards that.
Personality:
Knifeman doesn't really care too much about this "superhero" stuff. He's really only doing it because his mum wouldn't take no for an answer. And to pick up chicks.
Powers/Skills:

Knife skillz.
Knifeman is astoundingly coordinated, being able to throw and wield his assortment of knives with ease and astonishing accuracy.
Super Speed.
Knifeman inherited super speed from his father's side, and it was this that convinced his mother that he should be a superhero. He mostly uses this speed in his arms, to assist with throwing and dueling, however if he needs to run away, he won't hesitate in using it.
Partial Camouflage.
A forgotten skill from a fling one of his father's ancestor's had with another hero, Knifeman can blend in slightly with his surrounding, giving him a sucky version of invisibility that doesn't work in direct sunlight or against someone that has sharp eyesight. Rarely used.
Affiliation/Public Opinion:
Knifeman is generally well liked by the public, mostly because he hasn't done too much that would inspire their hate. The other heroes consider him a joke, with a stupid costume and a stupid name. Coincidentally, he thinks this of them, too.

Masked avenger name: Clear Cut

Outfit and appearance: Ninja outfit in crimson red, black bandana, 4 arms

Powers and skills:

Fire hands
Clear can makes his hands contain fire without inhuring himself. When concentrating a blue fire may appear but only for two minutes max.
The fire envelops his weapons also.

Sword master
Two japanese katanas and two shoto's (shorter shorts) are his favorite weapons. He learned the art in the the Ito mountains from Ninja masters.

Mist form
He can transform into mist, thus being invulnarable to bullets and attacks.

Affiliations and public opinion: Evil hitman that is known by heroes and villains, not really by the main public

Masked Avenger Name: "Chronos" (Xaroth Thade)

Outfit and Appearance: Chronos is a time traveler and thus often wears clothing appropriate to the timeline he's in. Still, he is rarely seen without his trademark goggles, generally has a bit of a steampunk look going on, has messy hair and a wide variety of utility belts on him. He always has at least one gun and one pocketwatch on him at all times.

Powers and Skills:

Time traveling: hailing from a distant, dystopian future, Chronos has an extensive knowledge of tons of subjects that are often still mysteries to whichever time period he's traveling to. Including time travel itself, obviously.
Limited precognition ability: having studied the flows of time meticulously, Chronos can look into the future, which helps when planning attacks and such. During combat this ability only helps him know what's going to happen in the next couple of seconds, but if he's not distracted, this can go up to several minutes and even hours.
Short-range teleportation: for brief amounts of time, Chronos can stop time. However, the Time Travel Act of 3125 forbids him from taking any action during such a time other than moving. To the uninitiated, such timestops (and Chronos' subsequent displacements) are often misinterpreted as 'teleportation'.
Cybernetic implants: medical science has advanced greatly in the future, and Chronos has been gifted with implants that improve much of his abilities (eyesight, strength, reflexes, etc.). While none of these are on the level of dedicated heroes in such departments (Superman, the Hulk, Spiderman, Bullseye, etc.) he's still in great shape. Most importantly, his implants have given him an increased lifespan.
Weapon Master: Chronos has had literally ages to study weaponry of all kinds. He prefers guns above all else.
Affiliations and public opinion: Chronos isn't too well-known by the general public, and only by a small portion of the super heroes/villains, but some scientists (particularly those researching time travel) are aware of him, as are a variety of future-sponsored secret organizations. Those that know him view him as a morally gray assassin often working for somewhat dubious ends.

The Statue

Outfit and Appearance: Ten foot tall statue of Hades. Ancient Greek. Robes. Helm of invisibility. Sword. Note: Colors of a statue, not "real colors."

Powers and Skills:

Knowledge of Death/Dying/Afterlife: As an animate and intelligent avatar of Hades, he has the full (extensive) knowledge of death and the afterlife that Hades possesses.

Invisibility: While wearing helm of invisibility, he is invisible. No power can override this invisibility or "see through" it, but he could still be recognized by another sense.

Sword skills: He is good at using his sword. Especially to kill people/things.

Statue: As a statue, usual things that would harm a being do not harm him. Smashing him or melting him are the only ways to hurt him. He does not need to breath, eat, drink, or sleep.

Affiliation/Popular Opinion: He is completely tied to the god Hades in every way, and must follow his every command. Aside from a piece about the statue's disappearance from the museum, he has stayed largely under the radar.

-----------------------------------------------------
Character:

Masked avenger name: Frozen Fire

Outfit/Appearance: A human male who seems to be fairly eccentric. He has dyed one side of his hair white and the other side red. He has done the same with his beard. His costume also looks that way. However, he has alternated so that if the red half of his hair is on his right, the right side of his costume will also be red, but the right side of his boots and beard will be white.

Powers and skills:
Pyrokinesis: Frozen Fire can make things heat up at will.

Cryokinesis: Frozen Fire can make things cool down at will.

Affiliations and public opinions: Have decided not to write it up. He's a villain.

calar

Aight, here's my character.

Name: The Silver Zephyr

Appearance: Young male in his early 20s with short spiky black hair and a cheerful boyish face, always with a smirk. Wears a white and grey outfit with a white cape and a black and white masquerade mask.

Powers and Skills: Zephyr has substantial control over the power of the winds and uses it as such.

Flight: Zephyr can control the air beneath his feet to allow for a impressive flight speed with excellent control. Due to excessive amounts of practice, Zephyr can levitate and fly at up to 120mph with precision.

Wind: True to his name, Zephyr can strike out at his enemies with hurricane force winds, often lifting his opponent into the air and flinging them several hundred feet into the air. Can also pick up massiveobjects and fling them at opponents.

Air Cutter: By shaping the way he manipulates the winds, Zephyr can form invisible thin "blades" of wind to strike his opponents. These blades are very difficult to block and dodge given their nature and can inflict serious damage against an undefended foe.

Lightning: Zephyr has an acute understanding of the nature of air molecules allowing him to manipulate the electric charge in the air thus giving him the ability to create lightning with which to shock foes. This lightning can originate from anywhere within Zephry's area of influence, again making dodging difficult.

Affiliations and public opinion: Zephyr is a wanderer, going from place to place on a whim, rarely tide down to one place, and helping those he encounters as he can. He is law abiding, but is more than willing to disregard laws he considers to be unjust or that impede his purpose. He is still relatively little known, but is growing in fame as he journeys across the world, especially in the places he has visited. He can never say no to anyone in need and will always see things through till the end before moving on to the next place. Despite his abilities, he avoids killing as much as possible and only does so if absolutely necessary, preferring to disable and debilitate his foes instead.

Name: Impulse

Appearance: Small, unassuming white male, with extensive acne and incredibly large glasses which cover virtually the whole of his face. Wears old trackpants and baggy T-shirts with complex mathematical formulae.

Powers And Skills: Impulse is a science geek, with the ability to do a surprising amount with his limited psychic abilities.
Force Transfer: Impulse can consistently, even in his sleep, move the point which a force is affecting. His control is no finer than one Newton and one centimeter, but he may move up to a kilonewton about five meters with ease. This has the side effect of allowing him to effectively transfer an object's weight to another object, as long as it weighs less than 100 kg. He may also reverse the direction of up to 800 newtons if he is not currently moving force.
Ubergeekery: Impulse knows one hell of a lot of stuff. He has knowledge roughly equivalent to a Master's degree in all of the major sciences.
Eidetic Memory: Impulse has an eidetic memory.

Affiliations and Public Opinion: Impulse is quite shy, and rarely strays far from his lab. When he does move, though, his abilities make him a fearsome opponent, particularly since he can vary them wildly within a short period of time. He is able to take down the most skilled of purely mundane fighters by means of throwing them off balance by changing their weights unpredictably, and he discovers new applications for his powers nearly every day. He is well known in the academic community, and can get answers to difficult scientific questions faster than almost anyone else on the planet.

Name: Lampshade

Apparence: Womanly figure, usualy hidden in the dark. The few witnesses who have seen her close enough says although she wears a very concealing black outfit and her face is mostly hiden by a mask, she look in her early thirties with brown eyes and blonde hair. The only one man who ever manged to catch her off guard and enter in a fight with her reported that during the fight part of the mask was torn off, revealing a rather pale skin and rope burn marks on her neck.

Powers And Skills:

Blackout: When she appears, sound deafens, temperature lower, lights and small electrical devices seems to automaticaly short circuit, flammes go out and even ambiant light seems to dampens.
She herself don't seem affected by these conditions.

Permeate: Although no one has seen her do that, it should be noted that with great concentration, she can make herself intangible and pass through solid matter. It saved her life more than once;

Acrobatics and stealth: She's a good acrobat and surhuman as often shown signs of surhuman speed and agility. When she's hidden ibn shadows she 's almost completly inaudible and invisible, no matter what she does.
She's not particulary strong however and would probaly be easily bested in a fight and captured or killed if she wasn't so damn good at escaping and hiding. She usualy uses a silenced gun as a weapon but is a pretty lousy shot and would rather avoid confontation.

Background, Affiliations and Public Opinion:
Somme time ago she used to be a simple bulgar and got into what was going to be "the thief of the century". And as a matter of fact , it was, and it worked. Her partners at the time decided a "spontaneous suicide" would be one less share to pay and she quickly found a noose around her neck.

The trauma of being left to die and the deseperation to live pushed her past her limits and lead to the discovering of deep burried abilities (aka superpower) ,allowing her to escape her fate (she made herself intangible and. It also drove her pretty crazy. She won't say what she saw during her near death experience, but she tend to sometime ramble apparent nonsense and snigger to herself and the thin air, as she was sharing jokes with an invisible omnipresent audience. She usualy act in a childish and weird way when in compagny of other superhumans.

Lampshade in not really well known from the public, she was until recently believed to be an urban legend, is partly known in the superhuman communauty and is definitively researched by justice on multiple accounts of breaking and entering, bulgary, resisting arrest and five suspected murder (none proved however. Actually she really killed two).

Not defining herself along the hero/villain scale, she is only after vengeance and will happily side with anyone who will help her achieve it. She's also a damn good thief and will gladly lend her service in mercenary work when she's simply after money (even revenge driven superheroes have to eat once in a while.)

Name: Draken Flamemarked

Apparence: a heavily muscled, heavily scared man wearing a green trench coat, with flame damage marking it. He wears a varity of t-shirts and blue jeans.

Powers And Skills:

Tough: Draken is able to take an inhuman amount of damage and keep going, it even rumored that he has a healing factor, that the scars are merely a self inposed punishment for his time as an mob enforcer

streat fighter: While Draken has no formal training, in a hand to hand fight he fights dirty and uses his surrounding to his advantage often beating well train people who he should have no chance againsts.

crack pistol shot: amazing shot with his custom made pistols, he has been known to shoot bullet in the air

weak future sight Draken has a very weak second sight, this often comes in little flashs that often save life, and the appearance of highten reflex's as he sidestep the blows or blocks every punch a martail artist sends his way

Background, Affiliations and Public Opinion:
Draken was a member of the Iris Molone mob family when he fell in love with a cop. What was more amazing was the cop, one Elizabeth Rickard's loved him back. So he turned state informer. Once his mob family were taken down, draken and Elizabeth disappeared into wittness protecton and for ten years lived a happy life, and even had a young daughter with her. Saddly on his daughter 6th bithday his past caught up with. Iris had got out of geol due to a techanally and had put a price on his head. The bounty hunter set his house alight. And watch to kill anything that excaped. Some sixth sense woke draken up before he could sucome to the smoke but it was already to late for his wife but not his child. He lifted his child and rushed out the house only to be shot by the waiting hunters. He fell still holding hisdaughter. That where the biggest evil happened, the hunter poured petrol on draken and his girl and set them alight. No one sure what happen next but all the hunter there end up dead all with expresstion of terror on there faces.
Draken was not heard from for sixth mouth, when suddenly the Iris Molone mob started being tourted and killed one by one until they were all but wiped out. The only surviors is a two year child and Iris Molone herself. Though Iris has been driven insane by the death of her love ones has draken sent her videos of the death of each family member. Now draken just kills any who he thinks deserve it, often conflecting with the local law and other 'hero'

A gaunt, luminescent humanoid creature materialized in front of Impulse. Instinctively, the telekinecitist formed a force barrier around himself and readied himself for an attack. But the creature dismissed the telekinetic barrier with little effort and established a telapathic connection.

I AM THE GAMEMASTER. YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO PLAY THE GAME... SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. KILL THE OTHER PLAYERS. THE WINNER SHALL GET MY GODLIKE POWERS...

The creature vanished in thin air, but it left behind a holographic device with 3D images and some information on the other players.

Draken, Lampshade, the Silver Zephyr, Frozen Fire, the Statue, Knifeman, Mr. Stoks, Chronos, Renegade and Clear Cut were also visited by the mysterious Gamemaster, and each of them received the a similar holographic device.

Mr. Stoks stared at Clear Cut in the eye. The ninja had some nerve. He liked that. Maybe he could put that skill to better use then trying to steal from him. Or worse....

He spoke calmly and choose his words carefully. A certain statue has a helm of invisibility. Get it and bring it back to me, and I'll reward you. Fail to do so, and I'll never see you again.

And a bit of advice. It'll be hard to find him, so come prepared. Oh and one last thing. To make it interesting, I'll be going after him myself, so you better hurry. Mr. Stoks smiled, then pulled his sleeve back and looked at the time. I'll give you a 1 hour head start. Should be more then enough time for you no? Good luck.

"Better check out my local contacts...who do I know here?"
"There's that geeky guy who's quite brilliant, there's the fire dude...hmm, perhaps I should ask that metalhead with the nice katana's down there. yeah right."

He takes out his call phone with his upper left hand
"Mr. Stoks? I'm here as requested, Sir. Where exactly was this grey giant seen last Sir?"

And he starts going through the images provided by the Gamesmaster

Good luck.
A voice from behind Stoks begins to speak, low and monotonously, but with a hint of menace.
"A helm of invisibility, eh? I could give you that, Ernest B. Stoks. But you're due to die in mere days from now, so it would be a waste." A slight gust of wind indicates that the Statue is gone from this place, his message complete.

A helicopter was flying above the rooftops of the city, pursuing man in long black coat. Despite being airborne and easily capable of catching any normal human, the chopper was having difficulties keeping up with the man. He ran at breakneck speeds, far above those normal human could reach, and effortlessly leapt from one rooftop to another. At times the pilot could even swear that the target was running along vertical surfaces.

"Take him out men!"

At the command, soldiers aboard the helicopter opened fire at the man, only for him to stop and draw a sword, swinging it in blur and intercepting the hail of automatic fire. When the soldiers ceased fire, their target was nowhere to be seen.

"Where is he?!"

"I am sure I hit him...he can't be that far."

Suddenly one of the soldiers gurgled and literally fell apart, sliced neatly into three pieces. His comrade tried to turn the gun at the attacker, but hardly managed to even raise it before impossibly strong grip lifted him by the throat and flung him out of the chopper and to his death.

Short while later uncontrolled helicopter began to spin towards the ground and Renegade jumped out, landing on his feet at the nearby rooftop. Explosion shook the building, the helicopter having crashed against the wall, and the swordsman cleaned his katana to his coat, sheathing it.

"I told you to leave me alone. And now I have to apparently take out every other...interesting invidual in this city. Life just isn't fair. For any of us."

Adjusting his longcoat, renegade quietly took cigarette from his pocket and started to smoke, lighting it with electrical charge from his fingertips.

Renegade was ready this time around, and moved his swords in defensive patterns, slicing bullets to small pieces or stopping them with flat of his blades before they could reach his body. To his vision the world was slowed down, allowing him to spot the bullets easily and deflect them. Crouching low, he caught three bullets on the flat of his blade and flicked his wrist, sending them to air in random pattern before hitting them again with flat of his sword, sending the now electrified bullets back towards Draken. He knew that they were not going to hit: his opponent could read little bit of future, that much he knew. Charging in right after his move, Renegade swung his sword in vertical cut, aiming at the torso of his opponent.

Impulse had stopped, realizing that whatever it was had likely been no threat to him. Turning around, he saw Renegade effortlessly deflecting everything that Draken threw at him. Both of them were unfortunately aligned, but he felt that Draken was more of a threat. Mr. Stoks had located Lampshade with a hand-held scanner. Instead of looking for bursts of energy as usually was the case when fighting "supers", Mr. Stoks had been looking for areas where light, heat, even the normal backgroud radiation seemed to vanish.

And there she was.

Lampshade laughed. A telekinecitist? Sure, go ahead and try your powers on me!

Mr. Stoks read her surface thoughts and guessed that the most obvious attack would not be a good idea this time. Mr. Stoks closed his eyes and imagined himself inside Lampshade's head. He visualized a strobe light emitting flashes of light.

Lampshade realized she couldn't see anything. It wasn't real light, it existed only in her head, so she could not shut it down. Worse yet, she felt her muscles started spasming violently.

Epilepsy? Mr. Stoks thought. How convenient.

The lights in the city flickered. The other supers felt their powers going "on and off" as Lampshade could no longer control her energy-dampening power.

As soon as Lampshade was too weak to resist Mr. Stoks' telekinetic powers, he visualized a ring of pure force around her neck, tightening like a hangman's rope.

Time to hang a lampshade.

Intellectual Reflexes: Impulse has no reflexes to speak of. Looks like someone brought a knife to a swordfight.

Knifeman weaved and dodged, having trouble to evade so many attacks at once. Using his super speed, he left the scene.

Impulse and Chronos attacked him next. Chronos tried to predict Knifeman's next moves, and while he was often correct, the guy was too fast to attack. Impulse tried to knock him down with a force blast, but only managed to catch Chronos in the blast. Knifeman ran away.

Draken opened fire as soon as he caught a glimpse of Knifeman's swiftly moving form. But the bullets narrowly missed him. The Silver Zephyr summoned a wall of wind in front of Knifeman, but he ran right through it.

Still alive..?

Round 3 ends!

Knifeman landed onto the roof. He was about to attack Renegade as a powerful stream of air picked him up. It was the Silver Zephyr! The master of winds was laughing at Knifeman who had no defenses against his powers. Knifeman got really angry. "You weasel, come here and fight like a man!"

"Weasel? Where?!?"

The Silver Zephyr was looking nervously around, trying to see the deadly furry animal. Knifeman chucked a knife at him. The knife caught him in the throat and clutching the wound and gurgling on his own blood, the Zephyr fell from the skies.

Reminiscent of Roadrunner cartoons, Knifeman looked down and realized that with the Silver Zephyr dead, he would fall down too.

"Oh crap."

Knifeman fell and with a loud thud landed back onto the roof. He opened one eye and saw that there were still four more people trying to kill him. "Ummf, who's next?"

Impulse generated a telekinetic thrust that knocked Knifeman off the roof. He fell again, this time twenty stories.

Round 4 ends!

The fact that the Statue had no mind - in the traditional sense anyway - made it hard for Mr. Stoks to track down the Statue with his telepathic powers. However, he had designed a device that allowed him to detect its presence despite the helm that granted it invisibility.

Several people had attacked the Statue, and it had decided to withdraw from the battle and repair some fractures an explosion had caused.

It lumbered in a shopping mall, looking for plaster or something like that. It passed by a dvd rental store.. or it would have, had it not noticed an ad about a dvd release.

500 days of Summer... it eyed it for a moment, then picked up a dvd and read the blurb. It's massive form shivered, for a reason no mortal man could understand.

Suddenly all the dvd covers in the store popped open. The disks started floating... and then flying towards the Statue, accelerating rapidly to supersonic speeds. Dozens, no hundreds of dvds smashed against it, cutting and chipping away at its stony form. After a barrage that lasted for nearly a minute, the Statue fell.

Meanwhile, Chronos was struggling against Renegade. His bullets bounced harmlessly off its cybernetic parts. Chronos jump back into the future and accessed a database about cyborgs in the 21st century. And found out that the Renegade was a so called full body cyborg - most parts of his body had been replaced with artificial parts. That made him nigh-invulnerable against gun fire, which was something Chronos that already figured out.

So the only way to kill him would be to mess with his brain somehow, and his brain was housed inside a titanium-alloy skull. Too bad Chronos wasn't one of the telepaths...

Chronos leaped back to the past, and Renegade immediately attacked with his swords.

"Gotcha!" Chronos said.

"What?" Renegade said as he swung his sword at Chronos.

The moment Renegade's mouth opened to utter the word, Chronos aimed and shot Renegade in the mouth.

Chronos blinked out of sight and reappeared a moment later, after Renegade had tumbled down to the ground.

Renegade blinked once before his brain ceased to function and massive electrical surge erupted from dead cyborg, killing the lights of the whole block. His katana fell from limb metallic hand and the metallic body soon followed, falling on it's back and breaking the ceramic below it.

It started to rain. The black longcoat of now-dead hero flapped in the wind and rain washed the lifeless face. And so Renegade, man who only wanted freedom, died alone on the rooftop.

No funerals would be held. No one would even ever know about his existence.

He finally had the freedom he craved, in death. The cyborg's audio system activated one last time as his metallic eyelids slid shut.

"Freedom sure is expensive..."

A ghost of a smile was ecthed on the face of the dead cyborg as the rain pattered the corpse. His game was over.

OOC: Well, that happened consideratebly faster than I expected. Oh well, I guess I can't always get to final round... :smalltongue:

Impulse paused for a moment. His eyes glazed over as he observed Renegade's corpse, and his mind drifted back to his past. Shaking himself out of it, he landed on a rooftop to consider, as he usually did, the accomplishments and flaws of the fallen hero. To his regret, he had been unable to find the Silver Zephyr's remains, and so he took longer than usual over this one. Knifeman, too, had deserved better, as had Lampshade, and possibly even the Statue. He looked up to the sky, and formed a small skin of air in the shape of a wine glass.

"To absent friends." He drank from the rain.

"To absent foes."

Impulse turned, and fled into the gathering storm.

Round 5 ends!

Mr. Stoks watched the remains of the Statue crumble to dust. He was about to leave the mall but sensed the presence of another super with his telepathic abilities. He created a telekinetic barrier just before Draken opened fire. Each bullet was deflected by the invisible shield.

Draken cursed under his breath and decided to try something else. Using his precognitive abilities and supernaturally accurate aim, he tried to fire at a surface hard enough to create a ricochet at an angle that would hit Mr. Stoks from a direction that wasn't shielded by the telekinetic barrier.

But Mr. Stoks could easily read Draken's thoughts and effortlessly, he adjusted the barrier so that the ricochet shots, too, were deflected.

Damn it, he's reading my mind... the only way to surprise him is to surprise myself.

Draken randomly drew one of his pistols and fired at a seemingly random direction, letting his instincts rather than thoughts guide his arm. The bullet he fired happened to be an incendiary round. It set a news stand on fire, and soon all the sprinklers in the mall were spraying water all around.

Mr. Stoks got water in his eyes and was momentarily blinded. "NO! WATER! I DON'T WANT TO DROWN!" He created a telekinetic umbrella to protect him from the water.

Draken fired his pistol six times. Each bullet hit Mr. Stoks in the chest, and the water on the floor was dyed red with blood.

Oh and by the way, who wants to host CoA IV? I think I'll be taking a break from GMing CoA after this game, but it'll be awesome if one of you wants to run the next one.

Actually, I've been designing a new structured game called Mook Wars. It's going to be totally different from all the structured games you've played so far. There are two armies, and each player controls a mook, trying to kill as many enemy mooks as possible while trying to stay alive.

There'll be dozens of NPC mooks with simple AI, but the player-controlled and AI-controlled mooks are otherwise indistinguishable, so you'll never know if the mook standing next to you is a stupid NPC mook or a smart, calculating PC. It'll be pretty chaotic.

Round 6 ends!

Draken had seen how Chronos had killed the cyborg. He didn't think he'd have any better luck dealing with the elusive time traveler.

As he was passing by a store selling tvs and other electric appliances, he happened to see tv ad about a project headed by a scientist called Maxwell Donovan. He was holding a speech about a project on some time particles that somehow enable moving matter back and forth along the same timeline.

He looked oddly familiar.

He made a few calls and soon he found Mr. Donovan's apartment. He kicked in the door and took the scientist down with a headshot. Draken blinked and looked around. For some reason he had shot a man and he had no idea who the dead man was. He shook his head and left the building.

...

Clear Cut ignited his blades with a mere thought. Frozen fire pointed a finger at him, and a cold wave of air washed over him, putting out the flames. The cold energy (yes it's possible in CoA) also made the ground slippery and with every step Clear Cut took towards Frozen Fire, his feet almost slipped. When he was just one step away from the striking distance, he fell on his arse. Frozen fire laughed and created a fiery blast that blackened Clear Cut's skin and outfit, but didn't do much damage because of his own elemental power protected him.

Using his wakizashis liked ice picks he quickly dragged himself within striking distance and slashed horizontally with both katanas. He cut cleanly through Frozen Fire's both legs and he fell, his legs separated from his body, spraying blood around.

"This may or may not end now. I sincerely hope that it will. But for me, this day has been one of my worst. And my day, at least, ends now."

The machine's power levels climbed into the green, and Impulse held them there, barely bothering to think about it. He was detached, ready for whatever was about to come.

. .

"GAMEMASTER! I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR ME! I, IMPULSE, MASTER OF FORCE, HEREBY CHALLENGE YOU!"

The shock wave rolled past the sun, violating all of the normal laws of sound. Impulse watched them impassively. He had shown his hand, and whatever would come would come.

Kensen
2009-12-25, 05:11 AM
The fighting had ceased for a while. Everybody knew, though, that it was just a calm before the storm.

It started to snow.

Gamemaster hovered hundreds of feet above the city. The falling snow sizzled and vaporized as it touched his faintly glowing form. He sensed a powerful supernatural creature approaching at a high speed. He turned his head and saw a group of flying creatures pulling a sleigh. A bearded man clad in red was sitting in the sleigh, and he saluted Gamemaster with a "ho ho ho" as he flew past.

Impulse was also flying above the city. The air seemed to ripple around him, and the immense amount of power stored within him distorted magnetic fields near him and even gravitons seemed to slow down near him, annulling gravity.

On the rooftop of the tallest building in the city, two equally deadly assassins were standing 20 feet apart, staring at each other intently, ready to attack.

Draken was the first to act. Faster than the eye can see (of a normal person, that is), Draken drew a gun and opened fire. Clear Cut had his swords in his hands by the time the first bullet left the barrel, and seemingly effortlessly deflected each bullet with the blades.

Clear Cut sneered. Is that all you got?

Clear Cut ignited the blades. The flames gave off bluish light this time, but just as intense as before. He leaped at Draken and attacked left - right - left - right, with his katanas first, while holding the shorter wakizashis in a defensive guard. Draken's reflexes saved his head; the second katana almost sliced his head diagonally in half.

Draken backed off and Clear Cut kept the pressure on him and maintained his rhythm, attacking with the wakizashis this time. The thrusts were aimed at Draken's abdomen and solar plexus, but he only managed pierce the skin. Draken groaned in pain as the flame burned his skin.

A sudden telekinetic thrust sent Clear Cut reeling to his side. Impulse was hovering above, smiling confidently. Draken seized the opportunity and took a shot at the staggering Clear Cut. The bullet caught him in the chest and he coughed blood.

Clear Cut threw the wakizashis, one at Draken and the other at Impulse. Impulse didn't even bother to try to dodge it or use his powers. The sword's kinetic energy just seemed to dissipate as it flew closer to Impulse until it stopped, just ten inches from his face. Impulse admired the craftsmanship and thought that the sword would look nice on his wall.

Draken, however wasn't so lucky. The wakizashi plunged into his throat. Dying, Draken fell to his knees, then keeled over face first, driving the blade deeper into his neck.

Impulse crossed his arms across his chest. GAMEMASTER! You're next...

Well played and well roleplayed, Random. =)

Yep fallout is a post-apocalyptic world. Pretty much like mad max, but with mutants.

Good, Bad and Ugly is pretty much standard western, three criminals trying to find a buried treasure. With the American Civil War going on in the background.

And yeah Mortal Kombat is a lot like Tekken, Street Fighter, etc.

Alice in Wonderland? Hmm sure why not, I'll play. Save for the queen who is beheading-happy, I don't remember if there is a lot of killing happening there though.

Let me ponder that one for a while. It is almost one in the morning here, so I should probably sleep on that. The new thread will go up in my morning. How many is a good number for CoA?

How many players? Well 11 has been pretty good, I think. Depends on how long you want the game to be, I guess. Both CoA II and III lasted seven rounds with eleven players.

i could go for wonder in alice or even a charlie and the chocolate factory theme.

and i saw that alliance you four cooked up. I should have pmed the other two to see if they wanted an alliance for the moment.

Are you saying you got that far and you weren't part of an alliance?

I was part of no alliance in this game either, and did not die right away. Oh well, it did not get me very far either... Congratulations to the winner!

I might try to host my own CoA when I get back from holidays with my family (and when Dragon Age: origins stops holding me in chokehold...). It will be cool, guys...honestly :smallwink:

When I saw that there was six kill aimed at me in one night, I figured my time was probably up, so I made sure to take down someone before I went. My spreadsheet told me that small furry animals had had the most guesses aside from me. :smalltongue:

Funnily enough, in the early stages I specifically avoided the most likely guesses. I knew that someone else would have a spreadsheet running, and so I tried to avoid redundancy.

yes.

and i had a 50/50 shot on Freshmeat. I was hoping to take him down with me. I knew i should have gone with that secret identity. :smallannoyed:

I wish I could've stayed in longer. I should've known better than to pick a weakness that people would go after.

In the last game we tried attacking secrets, that lead to me guessing the secrets of my team, which meant they killed me. In this game we went for individual players, which is much less friendly but seemed to work. However it did lead to all my team members trying my secret out on others. Which lead to this finale in which we each knew all the secrets.
I should have known Robert would go for me and he probably knew I'd go for him. So Random is the umtimate trickster in this game.

Congrats Random!!

Hey all, I have a slight problem. I can't post the new thread. It says I need to get the post approved by a mod or something. Help?

That happens. Whenever someone posts a new thread, it goes to the mods to get approved. Wait a few hours, sometime this afternoon it should be up, and if not, then probably tomorrow.
