Why did I have to see (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cymothoa_exigua) this (http://www.discoveryon.info/2009/09/rare-tongue-eating-parasite-found.html), internet?

Giant isopods were bad enough, but one that replaces your tongue, and latches on in its place ... why? WHY? WHY?

Why did you feel the need to reveal this to us?! >.< I despise parasites. *Shudders*

That's really cool, looking from a biologists perspective anyway. As a conspiracy theorists perspective, that's scary as hell D:

Irregular webcomic had a link to the wikipedia page on 'flesh eating bacteria'. It also had pictures. Today is not a good day for me.

That reminds me, in the developer commentary for Left 4 Dead 2, they mention having a bunch of those kinds of pictures to use as a reference to creating zombies, but it was said they were too gross and they couldn't use them.

It actually looks kind of cute on the wikipedia page. I did immediately think of some kind of skeletal fish Mohrg (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/mohrg.htm) though.

Eberron is becoming real!:smalleek:

In all honesty, that is both awesome and ghastly. The internet in a nutshell.

"Oh god! Your tongue is grinning and waving at me."

And if that's the worst thing you see on the internet today, be grateful. There is always worse out there.

My roommate, who is majoring in biology, is taking a parasitology course this semester and has spent the entire time telling me about different gross parasites. Also lecturing me over and over to wash my hands, wash my vegetables, and avoid eating dirt or poop.

avoid eating dirt or poop.
You'd hope that would be assumed :smalltongue:

As far as Parasites go, this is the on I recall creeping me out the most (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bot_fly)

Edit: There was an article on Cracked where one was mentioned to have eaten a Human brain.

Edit: Speaking of Cracked Articles... (http://www.cracked.com/article_17199_7-most-horrifying-parasites-on-planet.html)

For instance, it could have been r34 of the tongue-eating parasite.

I kind of reminds me of this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbjonhoHTW8) (more funny than disturbing).

Anyone ever see that movie? Twisted.

And yet she keeps repeating it. :smalltongue: No, she means do basic things to avoid it like washing your hands, your vegetables, not swimming in dirty water, because that's the most common way people get parasites is by ingesting feces without knowing it.

Good, because I hope your friend realizes there's a difference between eating crap (http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/3273iBDB449180C1074E7/image-size/original?v=mpbl-1&px=-1)and accidentally eating microscopic portions of it.
