I am going to be creating a Fighter 1/Wizard 6/Spellsword 1/Abjurant Champion 1 // LA 6/??? 3

This will most likely not go higher than 12, but could hit Epic if circumstances allow it.

What should I fill my three spare levels with? I'm not optimising especially. And the DM wanted us to think of something we could live with being (so no Monk dips etc. please, couldn't hack it irl).

Any thoughts?

Can't Rage and cast spells.

Factotum and Warblade are probably the two most obvious.

Factotum was the first thing that came to mind for me too. Any good +3LA races I could use (No Savage Species)?

What race are you?
If you're say 'half fiend' drow you would qualify for the drow paragon class, which is only 3 levels.
Take the stoneblessed PrC, which lets you count as gnome, goliath or dwarf for purposes of PrC and items (not powerful, but interesting).
Crusader 1 + Jade Phoenix Mage 2?

swiftblade (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/prc/20070327) a nice miss chance and free quicken on a great spell as well as only 1 CL hit

The Spellwarped template for +4 STR, +4 CON, +4 INT and Spell resistance?

Human. The LA is Divine Rank 0 that the DM allowed.

This looks fun. I may use it, or I may save it for my replacement guy (high fatality rate) and then have Force Missile Mage on the other side of the Gestalt, give him a Wis of 6, and say he chose to specialise in two spells because he's too forgetful/bone idle to be a normal Mega-Mage.

Where is this from?

Factotum can always work.

Or Warblade, as you'll hav e a high INT already.

Or, heck, three levels of Totemist or Incarnate(MoI).

Lastly, a little Binder (ToM) never hurt anyone. Except their enemies.

Cooooooool. DR0 gives better SR, but damn that's tempting.

Not to worry, better spell resistance means you'll get more use out of Spell Absorption.

Good point. I'm sold. Thanks all.

Did your DM approve the other stuff?
Gestalt usually doesn't allow combo classes like Spellswords/Abjurant Champions/Jade Phoenix Mages, though if he's allowing it, consider rogue. The sneak attack is a plus and (if he's allowing those combo classes) lets you take arcane trickster on that side, which is kinda fun by itself and also lets you take more fun martial stuff on your primary side while keeping up your caster level.

BAB isn't considered a dual-class thing. JPM is (man. + spells). I steer clear of Rogues because I inevitably revert to playing the "if it's not nailed down its mine" mentality. I can't help it :smalltongue:

Other than Warrior/Magic, what other combo classes is your DM permitting?
If the arcane trickster is allowed, you could do it through spellthief with the Master Spellthief feat (which would be interesting, and there's nothing wrong with the spellthief equivalent attitude: "if it isn't permanencied it's mine" mentality)

Why not shift it around to

Wizard 7 / Spellsword 1 / Abj Champ 1 // LA 6 / Warblade 1 / Fighter-Feated Rogue 2

That gets you an extra caster level (and spell level) without giving up anything. It uses the ??? levels to get you a few maneuvers and a bunch of skills, which are good things to get.

If you stick with the leading fighter level, Warblade, Factotum, Feated Rogue and Swordsage are probably the best options. Swordsage may seen an odd one out in that list, but it gets you pretty good skills *and* the most maneuvers, plus it boosts your AC a little (and that could probably use it).
