If a monster is listed as casting spells as a sorcerer/wizard/cleric of X level are they assumed to have that spellcasting as a supernatural ability?

most dragons and many other monsters have spell casting of an X level somthing or other but the casting is not listed as a spell like ability or anything and i'd like to know how it's classified.

This is conflicted...Some people claim it is Ex because of some monster from MM5 listing it as such, other people claim those are typos or mistakes and they aren't any...

Definitely not supernatural abilities, since those don't invoke AoOs/spell failure and would not be well analogous to spellcasting. They may be (Ex) abilities, as nekomata2 mentioned. Or they could just be "natural abilities", with no such tag, like speed or BAB.

Is BAB (Ex)? Is movement speed (Ex)? No, they're natural abilities. Spellcasting may be one of them.

interesting so. . . how exactly does this affect wildshape for a druid with 7th level of master of many forms who thus has Extraordinary wildshape? when you for example, wildshape into somthing that casts spells as a 5th level sorcerer. . . would they get that casting ability?
