2009-12-04, 06:43 PM
I linked my friend to Monster Advancer as soon as I tried it out, he then randomly generated a bunch of stuff. I told him I would randomly generate a character and this is what I got:

Now, he wasn't able to cast 9th level spells, so I added this:

Winged Boots (Boots, Winged)
Cloak of Charisma +6
Normal Metamagic Rod of Quicken (6th and lower)
Greater Metamagic Rod of Empower (9th and lower)
Amulet of Natural Armor + 5
Portable Hole (where else was I going to keep my spare 10k gold?)

...and we were off!

Edit: "Replace: me" replaced some stuff it wasn't supposed to.

DM: So your character wakes up in a drunken stupor in the basement of a strip club. As you wake up, a wizard walks hurriedly up the stairs. You can tell he's a wizard by the rdisheveled robe and wizard hat.
Zovc: I guess the wizard hat is enough, really, huh?
DM: Probably. The small room is lit by a few candles. A door lies to the northern side of the room, but it is guarded by a large, female ogre (presumably a stripper). She looks at you and appears mildly annoyed.
DM: There are also, of course, stairs leading up.
lol, coolness.
DM: Kay
So this random generator tells me that the Strip Club is called The Tiger's Casque.
So yeah, there's this Ogre chick guarding a door.
She does not look amused.
Z: I see... are the strippers... ogres?
DM: Well, this one is.
Z: She's a stripper and a guard?!
DM: Well, she's a stripper AND she's guarding the door.
So, what do?
Z: Uh,
*ahem* "Hello, ma'am. Where am I?"
DM: "You in...employee lounge." She's seeming to struggle with the words, which appears to make her angrier.
(On an unrelated note, monster advancer just gave me a Gold Half-Dragon Air Elemental with 3 levels of Wizard. WTF??)
Z: "Should I go?"
(Yeah, that's...)
DM: (It also only has 8 INT...XD)
She squints at you. "You want lapdance"
Z: "Is that a question?... or..." >.<
DM: "No!"
She begins to move toward you, swinging her hips in a horrifying manner.
DM: (The only thing I can think of is the futurama episode with the giant women. "SNOO SNOO!")
But yeah, good question.
She's getting closer...O.o
Z: No way, man! I'm looking at my spells!
DM: lol
Z: Ok, I'm going to cast Fog Cloud, using one of my 7 daily 2nd level spells.
DM: You hear her say "Hey, where go?"
Z: Away. I go to the nearest wall, then try to move behind her and through the door.
DM: Alrighty, roll move silently?
Z: I have a +1.
Rolled a 16, a 17.
DM: Alrighty, you get to the door. The ogress is shouting "HEY, WHERE GO! YOU NOT TIP!"
Z: I step away from the door then examine my surroundings.
Quickly, if possible.
DM: Well, I didn't say you got through the door. The door was locked. >.> It's heavy and made of stone, with a keyhole.
Z: Oh, I'm at the door.
It's locked, eh?
DM: Appears so, assuming you tried it. XD
Z: Oh, well I'll try the door.
DM: So yeah, locked.
Z: Damn! I gobble another 2nd level spell (at 5, after casting) to cast Knock.
DM: Alrighty, the door opens into a hallway. The ogress is still oblivious
Z: Cool, can a search check tell me anything about the hallway?
I rolled another 16. +10, so 26.
DM: It's quite dark.
You can tell that the floor and walls and ceiling are hewn stone by the texture. But you can't really see ****.
I'm thinking the Fog Cloud in the previous room would keep even that light from escaping.
Z: Fair enough.
Do I have any idea how far the hallway extends?
DM: Well, without seeing it? Not really. With that check, you can probably feel along the wall. You notice that it branches off immediately in front of the door, both paths heading North.
Z: Okay, I'll cast Dancing Lights (using one of 6 0th-level spells) and have them show me what's down one of the paths.
DM: Alrighty, left or right?
Z: We'll do left first.
I've only got a minute of scouting, though. >.>
DM: That's okay, the lights are fast. They go down the left path and arrive immediately at a dead end about 60 feet down.
Z: Did I see anything strange?
DM: Nope, featureless hewn stone, sorta tan-colored.
So says the random dungeon generator;.
Z: Alright, back to me and down the right path.
DM: Alright, it goes down the right path and you can see that it turns sharply to the right 60 feet down.
Z: I see...
DM: The hallway is also quite narrow, I should mention.
Z: I'll activate my boots of flight (3/day, now 2) and zip down to that bend in one move.
DM: Alrighty, it turns to another long hallway.
I guess you're at your lights?
Z: Yes.
Let's move those down the hall.
(For the record, I made no mention of buying any clothes. I just have my necklace, my two rods, my cloak, and my boots. Nothing else... aside from my portable hole where my gold is.)
DM: Alright, you move them down and you see a split - one path heads south, one continues to the east. You can faintly make out two doors down this path.
Z: [Thought: What kind of strip club is this?]
I assume the doors are at the end of each hallway?
DM: No. You're looking down the hallway, and you see where another one branches off. At the end of this hallway, you see a door on the right and the left.
But still, what do?
Z: Anyways, Grim will fly to the bend.
DM: It's cool.
Z: (The flight lasts 5 minutes, I don't know who should keep track of that.)
DM: Well, I think you've spent like 12 seconds of it.
Z: Sounds about right.
So, nothing down the bend? I'll send the lights there if I can't see.
DM: Yeah, the bend comes to a wall and splits again. You can see the doors better before you send the lights, though.
Z: Seriously, worst strip club ever. Not to mention I'm probably the best looking person here...
DM: lol, well, your competition is Ogres.
Z: My point exactly.
I'll move over to the two doors down the hall I'm actually in (not the one down the bend).
DM: Alrighty, the one on the left is flimsy and made of wood, and appears to slide like a Japanese paper door. The one on the right is...also wooden, but has a pad-locked latch, and looks slightly sturdier.
Wait, scratch that and reverse it.
Left door sturdy, right door flimsy.
Z: I'll cast Protection from Chaos. It'll last 20 minutes. 6/7 level 1 spells left.
DM: Sweet
Z: Can I see anything through the paper door?
DM: Sorry, it's like a paper door in that it's flimsy and it slides, but it's still made of wood, and not as opaque. But it looks like you could hit it and it'd fall over.
Z: Hmm... I'll try to open the flimsy door.
DM: You slide it to the side. It opens to a mid-size room with broken pottery and rusted weapons on the ground. A shelf holds a pot with a dead plant inside.
And torches on the walls light the room.
I should add.
Z: ****ing rust monster?
DM: No living things in the room you can see
Z: Can I 'search' the room from here?
DM: Sure
Z: As in, without going in.
Natural 20! X3
That's a 30, if the result matters.
DM: You don't really see anything of note.
Z: I see. I'll close the door and try the one that's now behind me.
DM: Alright, once again, that one is quite sturdy and has a padlock.
Z: Ah, right.
Deciding if it's worth shattering the lock.
Sure, why not!
4 2nd-level spells left today.
DM: What do you use?
Z: The spell Shatter.
DM: Ohh, I see.
Z: I should have just used Knock, probably. XD
But it's all good, I have Chaotic in my alignment.
DM: Well, the lock shatters.
Z: Can I open the door now?
DM: From inside, you hear several exclaimations of surprise, including one "****!"
In a masculine voice.
Z: I see.
DM: exclamations*
Z: I won't open the door in that case.
DM: Alrighty, well, I need to get to FNM.
Z: Alright, nevermind, then.

If anyone felt like randomly generating dungeons, I don't really have anything planned for tonight or this weekend. X3

Sorcerers can't cast Shout or Greater Shout.

2009-12-05, 02:36 AM
It's on the sorcerer/wizard spell list. Why can't they cast Shout?
