View Full Version : Fun allusions in D&D

So, my boyfriend and I were talking about all the silly things we could do in D&D, and we came up with an idea that will surely make our DM groan. We'll try to get initiative right after each other (if not, we can delay action)... then my wizard will cast Time Stop... then his character will tear onto the scene with a warhammer... I know it's not how the spell works but if the DM allows it, it gives us this:

"Time Stop - Hammer time!"

Anybody have any other silly things they've made their characters done to allude to the real world?

You can actually do that with master specialist, I believe. Personal spells as touch with abjurer.

I always wanted to dominate a half white red dragon on my wizard, and ride it. Pinky and the Brain ^^

*edit* I forgot, you cant beat people up when time stop is running. You could summon a bunch of hammers with spiritual weapon, though.

Yeah, I know, that's why I'd have to ask the DM if he could pretty please just let it happen once :smalltongue:

The dragon idea is awesome

"I'll allow it." </Mills Lane>

I'm not much of a one for memes in D&D, apart from the entire dungeon level filled with semi-disguised references to British kids tv. The players are learning to hate the Clanger whistle (it generally means they're about to be pig-piled by pink, golden-armoured Derro riding around on iron cockatrice constructs). :smallamused:

The material component for Aid used to be a small strip of cloth with slightly sticky ends.

A good friend of mine created this half white dragon (in human form), half ogre character with blue eyes. I didn't really think anything about until he told me he was a half blue eyes white dragon. Facepalm.

Not mine, but I've seen a couple stories online by a guy who made a Knight who uses CSI-style puns (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mznsEcZlM2I), except flipping the visor of his helmet down instead of putting on sunglasses. Said puns are almost always based around his catchphrase, which is "IT'S KNIGHTIME!"

For example, when fighting Drow:

"Good thing you ladies get Darkvision..."
*visor clang*
"BECAUSE IT'S KNIIIIIIGHTIIIIIIME!"

Wow

Did you manage to get the rest of Samus's features onto that character?

Make it a feat.

"Stop, hammer time."

Or more creatively, a mechanic that upgrades a spell.

Time Stop Addition: By expending (so and so) amount of XP, the caster can allow one other creature to enter their universe upon the casting of this spell. That creature then selects one of their proficiencies (martial, simple, exotic). The chosen list is the only list of weapons that said creature may use in the instance of a time stop.

The 'partner creature' cannot use spell components, cast spells, expend xp, etc., which is reserved for the 'host creature' (the one who cast time stop to begin with).

This does not increase the casting duration of time stop.

We got an artifact sword that changed it's appearance depending on who held it (you chose when you first picked it up). It could also precipitate planar breaches.

Cut to five seconds later, the fighter standing on Celestia holding a giant drill. "Who the hell do you think I am? Mine is the Drill that will pierce the heavens!"

The artificer in that game also built a device that could best be described as a god motel (like a roach motel, only, well...). It cost him millions of GP to make. Quoth the DM: "That should be against the rules." Artificer: "Screw the rules I have money!"

Both of these are particularly made of awesome.

I had a gnome artificier NPC in my first game, who made all the gear for the PCs (assuming they paid the cost and brought him materials). His name was Lucas. He was assisted by his intelligent construct, named George. Both had the ability to wield brilliant greatswords.

Also, I played a bard named Cedric. He was an entertainer.

No, never tried that, just a suggestion.

My favorite is probably a whole horde of gnomes marching forward, casting illusions of their own. Oh, wait... did you say allusions? In that case... I don't know.

I know. I've gotten to the point that I involuntarily grin whenever I hear the word "Nighttime." I would totally steal that character if I thought I could pull it off, but... well... I can't.
