Simple question. Are cohorts allowed to take leadership? With some optimization, one person and a chain of cohorts could have several thousand people at their command.

Technically yes, but your DM probably won't allow it.


Also, since technically I think Cohorts are made by the DM, you wouldn't get a choice in the matter.

There's no RAW reason to suggest that a cohort can't have Leadership.

That said, as with any "spawning" type of massive numbers of followers scheme, remember that the cohort's followers are loyal to the cohort, not to you. If your cohort snuffs it, they don't necessarily continue to follow you.

You can make a level 1 commoner have thousands upon thousands of minions if you want

A crusader could (ab)use this very well. First: i think there is a maneuver or stance that lets you charge w/o getting in eachother's way. Then, use the nineth level maneuver warmaster's charge. Thousands of damage with only a hundred people. With more...
