hi there people, been few days.

Enviornments. Not all in D&D are dungeons, nor traps.

I want to make my party suffer some natural hazards like quicksands.
I already know the rules for WEATHER, so set that aside.

The problem is... i dont know where rules for all this kinds of things are.

Manuals? internet?
please, tell me if you know about.

Stormwrack (AKA It's Windy Outside)
Sandstorm (AKA It's Hot Outside)
Frostburn (AKA It's Cold Outside)

Three official WOTC 3.5 books.

I've probably been ninja'd by now.

edit: or not!

I think 1e and 2e DMGs have some pretty good environmental rules. You should check it out.

I'm a fan of Cityscape (It's Crowded Outside). Urban environments are tougher to run, but I find they can lead to a much more entertaining and dynamic experience than "Wander through the wilderness killing stuff"

Namely, "wander through the town killing stuff." :smalltongue:

Cityscape: It's Inside Outside.
No, that's Dungeonscape (It's not outside).

Cityscape requires a certain party mindset, one where the players don't want to be unrepentant killers for one reason or another. It's great for running investigation or more roleplaying based campaigns.

One of my goals is to eventually run a campaign with the PC's either as a sort of thieves guild/other criminal organization, a political movement (In a highly corrupt republic), a noble house, or some combination thereof.

I'm still disappointed we never got the swamp environment book. Mudscape: "It's Squishy Outside".

Froghemoth demands justice! (the big sexy brute that he is!)

ive checked DMG1 and it have some hazards, but not too many.
Stormwrack, Sandstorm, Dungeonscape & Cityscape & whateverscape are nice too, but i want some rules for a dark forest.

i planed some weird stuff like assassin vine, but thats a monster rather than a natural trap or hazard.

There aren't really any enviroment books written on forests.

You might want to check out Heroes of Horror though. It's been a while since I read it, but it could fit the 'dark woods' stereotype.

really, most of your forest hazards are going to come from monsters. Maybe a couple poisonous plants or sinkholes, but generally threats are going to come from monsters.

My favorite part about the Froghemoth is that it's an alien. As in, "from another planet and brought here by a spaceship" alien. No, not a spelljammer, a spaceship. With robots and keycard doors and power armor and ray guns inside.

Call of Cthulhu: It's OH CRAP! outside.

More like It's Call of Cthulhu: Don't go outside!

I agree that the 3.5 environment books are pretty good as far as environment rules go.

Actually, now that I look more clearly at it, I think most of what you want is in the DMG1.

For example, pg 88 has rules on quicksand under marsh terrain ( http://www.d20srd.org/srd/wilderness.htm#marshTerrain )

Then trees themselves don't cause problems outside of visibility, undergrowth, the trees themsevles, and forest canopy, all of which are here ( http://www.d20srd.org/srd/wilderness.htm#forestTerrain ), or on page 87 of your DMG. They also have forest fires, and a small suggestion for 'other forest terrain elements'.

Except possibly getting lost, which is on page 86 and here: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/wilderness.htm#gettingLost

The next couple pages or that SRD area also have rules on fighting underwater or flowing water or what have you.

The DMG2 then (pg 47~56) has rules on battling in the sky, burning buildings, evil crypts, flooding dungeons, ice bridges, lava, restrictive tunnels, and treetop village according to the table of contents. It then on page 63 has handy suggestions for quickly drawing terrain on a battle map.

So I think most of what you want can be found there. :P What else were you looking for? Although the suggestions to look in the various environment books is a good one.

I think I need to fix this one:

Ravenloft: It's EVIL outside.

legends & lairs has an older 3E book called wildscape which has a lot of different environment rules and suggestions.
