Spells to Make Permanent?

Which are some good ones for a wizard to make permanent on himself.

I'm partial to See Invisibility. Symbol spells protect your stuff nicely. as does invisibility, though you may have to worry about "where did I park that invisible jet?"

what is your DM's approach in regards to dispelling a permanent spell? and how often do enemies cast dispel on you in combat?

sinking thousands of XP into permanent spells to have it all poof away next combat would suck, a lot.
