Now, I know the forum doesn't allow religious discussion.

But the game Scion, by White Wolf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scion_(role-playing_game)), utilises ancient mythology pretty heavily. So, my question (questions, really) are these:

What's the stance on playing Scion in PbP, or playing a character from that universe in FFRP?

And what's the stance on discussing ancient mythology?

Ancient mythology tends to be a much less touchy subject, so you should be good. Might want to wait for Roland or another mod to come answer definitively, though.

Give this post a read. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5649027&postcount=6)

I think the most important part might be this part. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2547847#post2547847)

tl;dr

So in a PbP game, where it is clearly all fictional, I don't think it presents a problem, as long as you keep it fictional and don't get into discussions of real world doctrine, etc. But in any of the discussion forums, I think it would be a problem almost every single time.

As for the ancient religion question, it's still real world religion, so still prohibited. You'd be surprised how many gods of the ancient world are still venerated by someone and how quickly people are to move from discussions of ancient gods to modern beliefs. Hence, the blanket ban on real world religion.

Okay. Got it.

The reason I'm asking is that I'm making a character from that universe in FFRP ACRO, so... it seemed a good idea.

Yeah, pbp tends to be a bit safer, because you only have your group looking at it, so it's much less likely to devolve into anger. And because it's being expressed in character, it's possible to touch on subjects which would be frowned upon elsewhere in the forum, as long as everyone keeps it civil and it doesn't go too over the top.
