I am just wondering what is the best class for a Kobold character? I am leaning toward 4ed Rouge but dont want him to die cause of a idiotic anvil above a door.

Kobolds are really good in 4e, thanks to Shifty - they can move 2 squares each turn without provoking OAs. Obviously, this helps most in melee.

Rogue is a natural choice, with the bonus to DEX and ability to move around for a sneak attack. Weapon damage matters less because you are likely using a dagger, which is the same damage for all classes.

Infernal Warlocks are also a nice choice, thanks to high CON and your ability to shift away to use your powers. Warlock powers don't care what you're holding, so Kobolds were as well as Half-Elves.

Virtue of Valor Bards may seem like an odd choice, but you can get into and out of combat safer than most other races. A short sword or rapier will give you decent damage, and you'll have the choice of either melee or ranged attacks.

Stay away from anything requiring a large weapon. Avengers are not for you (as a Kobold).
