And vote for Odin!

I am trying to get my dog - and have been trying to get my dog - into an advertisement! Well the chance is finally within my grasp - so to speak! Muttropolis is having a photo contest - the #1 dog gets to be used to for their advertisement - and they also get a $1,000 gift certificate. Naturally my wife wants the $1,000 Muttropolis Gift Certificate, while I'd like to get my dog in an ad. :-)

You can vote every 24 hours (the clock appears to reset at 11pm PST, from what I have found) - and you can vote per unique (validated) email address! If you could be so kind as to help out!

Odin needs your votes! If you have twitter, facebook, myspace, a blog, website, whatever - Please retweet, repost, etc - http://photocontest.muttropolis.com/photo.aspx?Id=291

If you live outside the US, you can use SAN DIEGO for the city, CA for the state, and 92154 for the zip!

I'm voting for this, but only because your dog's name is friggin' Odin. That's like... the second best name for a dog ever.

Heh! I will take the vote! (And remember, you can vote daily!) :-D

What's the first best name?

Probably Thor?

Pavlov, duh. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Pavlov)

Or... uh, apparently not Thor.

Okay - I gotta ask - why Pavlov?

Ironically we were going to adopt another Husky named Loki. But were unable to. :(

Voted. Cool name.

Doh! Missed this reply! Thank you! And thank you! (Once for the vote, once for the compliment on the name!)

Figured it was fitting - Norse being vikings and the like - a snow bound husky named Odin seemed to fit.

May I make a suggestion? Try this name. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garmr)

"The phrase "Pavlov's dog" is often used to describe someone who merely reacts to a situation rather than using critical thinking."

I wanna get a cat so I can name him Schrödinger.

What do you bet someone will think you meant the Hellsing character (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger_(Hellsing))?

Loki, but only if you want a CATASTROPHE!

Oddly enough, I have a cat named Loki.

He's a big dumb furball of destruction that got stuck in the fridge several times.

Oh don't think I didn't think of Garmr or Fenris or something...!

I have never heard that say... which isn't say much... as I am pretty secluded in life. lol

The cat is much wiser than you know. You think being stuck in the fridge was an accident! Nay! Nay I say! Loki was merely trying to return to the frigid climates of the Norse!

The name's good, and your dog looks like a great dog - very pretty. However, my vote for your dog is motivated less by those facts than by the fact that under no circumstances to I want this (http://photocontest.muttropolis.com/photo.aspx?Sort=Popular&Id=263&SearchTerm=) to beat a dog like Odin. I mean, c'mon, that thing doesn't deserve to be called a dog! :smalltongue:

No, really, I'll vote for Odin (for both reasons). Good luck.

I completely agree - I am not sure that thing qualifies as a dog - or the bottom of a mop! :-D

Verily! The Norse would be quite displeased by the actions of such a manner of creature defeating the Mighty Odin!

Zuul was always a good name for a dog if you ask me. *Cookie*

Here's a bit of help...
Gozer the Traveler. He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!

Odin will get my vote when I get home. Work is blocking the voting site from me. :smallwink:

Bah! The fouls of work! :smallconfused:

Somehow Cream Puff is jumping by 100 votes... methinks they may be cheating! :smallfurious:

Case and point. Google Creme Puff who is 100 votes ahead...

Creme Puff Googled. (http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=http%3A%2F%2Fphotocontest.muttropolis.com%2Fphot o.aspx%3FId%3D263&aq=f&aqi=&oq=&fp=cbc2f75bf9d43a8f)

Odin Googled = Odin Googled! (http://www.google.com/#q=http://photocontest.muttropolis.com/photo.aspx%3FId%3D291&hl=en&filter=0&fp=cbc2f75bf9d43a8f)

As an experiment I googled the URL to the pictures - to see if the person for Creme Puff is posting somewhere. Then I googled the URL for Odin. Creme Puff, as you can see - has one hit - the link to the photo. Odin has three pages worth of hits!

Don't forget you can vote again at 11pm PST.

Ah, but truly fitting no? The mischief cats get into ... it's a fitting name.

I have three cats also... Athena (nicknamed: Athye) and Freya... As you can see love naming the animals after Gods and the like! Only have the third, Toulouse, who is named after the orange cat from Disney's ARTISTOCATS movie.

Good going on third place. T'was a noble attempt, and all things considered, that's damn good. But now I wonder how many people won their votes using means similar to yours (ie. facebook, myspace, etc).

Yeah at some point "The Dog That Shan't Be Named" gave up - because they were wracking up votes every time I hit refresh. The ones who took first and second wracked up almost 600 votes in the final hour. :smallconfused:

The problems with online voting - there's always a way to gank the system. =/ At least that ridiculous "Let's-Edit-My-Dog-To-The-Cover-Of-Some-Stupid-Magazine" dog didn't beat you! =p

So very true... I don't get how at one point they just gave up the race... they were wracking in votes... then silence on the last two days of it.

First place is a rather small dog too. Perhaps we can punt them both and disqualify them as dogs, making Odin the default winner?
