What Transmutation spells past 3rd level are good? I'm a level from getting 4th level, and beginning to wish I specialized in conjuration, since groping tentacles & solid fog are sooo good.

Polymorph? Celerity?

Also:
Extract Water Elemental<3
Greater Blink
Mental Pinnacle+Quick Potion+Fox' Cunning
Overland Flight
Control Weather
Glass Strike
Flesh to Ice
Spell Enhancer
(Lesser/Greater) Spell Matrix
Time Stop
Reverse Gravity
Bite of the Were-xing
Body of War
Telekinesis
Greater Mighty Wallop (for the Cleric)
Sakkratar's Triple Strike (ditto)
Unfettered Heroism (in Eberron)
and Whispercast, even if it's below 3rd.

So, what spells do you currently have?

Extract Water Elemental

This one is fun for the whole family. If you don't have it on your list, get some scrolls of it.

Why oh why isn't Control Weather Evocation? :smallyuk:

Wait, Celerity is Transmutation?

Wait, Celerity is Transmutation?

That one makes sense - all the "speed" spells are, even Time Stop.

since groping tentacles & solid fog are sooo good.

Wait till things start to have Teleport, Dimension Door, Freedom of Movement, etc...

Lighting Leap
Elemental Body
Call of Stone
Halt

And of course, the classics:

Haste and Slow

I don't recognize a lot of those spells. Where are they from? PHBII?

Yes, between PHB2 and SpC you'll find most if not all of these.

Lost Empires of Faerun. It's Haste on steroids.

For the others that aren't in PHBII or SpC:
Mental Pinnacle is in the SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/spells/mentalPinnacle.htm).
Flesh to Ice is It's-Cold-Outside.
Unfettered Heroism is some Eberron book.
Greater Mighty Wallop is Races of the Dragon.
Whispercast is Lords of Madness.

I've found the Bite of the Were[critter] series to be absolutely awesome for druids, but less than optimal for wizards. They can be incredible buffs, but wizards and sorcerers aren't going to have the base HP and the equipment to really take advantage of it; they're still going to be far too squishy for my comfort. (The range on each of these spells is personal)

Thanks. Mental Pinnacle looks interesting.

3.0 shield gives me +7 ac, I typically have 18-20 dex, and mage armor/greater mage armor is like wearing a chain shirt or breastplate. Since I'm a manifester, too, I can use vigor & share pain on my psicrystal to get a really stupid amount of HP. Then polymorph self into an ogre or whatever.

The only problem is the amount of resources I have to devote to being competent in melee. It's usually better to put the spells on the fighter.

Alternatively, when I turn my familiar into a dragon, I could put bite of the x on it. That's what I might do. I'll use share pain on the familiar to up its HP.

Heart of X (these spells are great, but best on an item I admit)
Polymorph line (no, really?)
Timestop (lets you do your makeup without slowing everyone down)
Transmute rock/mud/lava (for your daily mud bath)
Celerity (nah, couldn't be)
Trollshape (It'll make you prettier)
Glass strike (for smashing things, I know you get upset regularly)
Flesh to Ice/stone (You want to collect statues? We can do that)

Probably more, but I'm tired and lazy.

Where are these Heart of X spells? Heart of Stone, in the SpC, sucks.

I could swear they *were* SpC, but looks like Complete Mage.

Edit: Disintegrate just.... isn't that good. It can be useful in specific situations though.

Those are neat spells. I like the hours/level duration.

Uh, guys? Disintegrate?

In 3.5, it's a blasty spell with three chances of failure. 3.0 it's a save-or-die that affects undead. Situational.

3 chances of failure? I count...2.

1-ranged touch attack, oh, bollocks, I missed.
2-fort save, oh, bollocks, he made his save and only takes 5d6 damage.
3-...? Unless you're counting something like poor dice rolls like 40d6=40, or something?
