Preamble: I saw a Soulknife thread over in the Roleplaying Forum and thought "What if we could take two of the worst classes out there and make a PRC that actually makes them usefu?" Tell me what you think.

The Soulmonk

"My mind is both focused and sharp, my strikes true and my will strong."

It is a rare few that possess the talents of the Soulknife, or the patience of the Monk. Rarer, yet, are those that have both. However, when those gifted few are born and found, the training they may receive as Soulmonks makes them formidable opponents indeed, combining their training and talents to be both strong physical combatants, and useful manifesters of psionic powers.

Prerequisites:
Class Features: Flurry of Blows, Evasion, Throw Mind Blade
Bases Attack Bonus: +4

Skills: 4+Int Modifier
The Soulmonk’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Balance (Dex), Climb (Str), Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Escape Artist (Dex), Hide (Dex), Jump (Str), Knowledge (arcana) (Int), Knowledge (Psionics) (Int), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Listen (Wis), Move Silently (Dex), Perform (Cha), Profession (Wis), Psicraft(Int), Sense Motive (Wis), Spot (Wis), Swim (Str), and Tumble (Dex).

Class Features

Monk Abilities: You add your Soulmonk class level to your Monk level for purposes of determining your movement speed, AC bonus, Flurry of Blows attacks and bonus, Stunning Fist uses and unarmed strike damage.

Mind Blade: You add your Soulmonk and Monk class levels to your Soulknife level for purposes of determining the Enhancement Bonus of your Mind Blade. Your mind blade may take the form of any Monk weapon you are proficient with, or it may be used to imbue its power directly into your fists. If you shape your Min Blade into a double weapon, each side has an effective Enhancement Bonus of your maximum -1, unless your maximum enhancement is 1, in which case only one side is enhanced.

Mind Blade Enhancements: You add your Soulmonk level to your Soulknife level for purposes of determining what enhancements can be used with your Mind Blade.

Monastic Training: You may multiclass freely between Soulknife, Monk and Soulmonk.

Power Points/Day

A Soulmonk can manifest powers. Your ability to manifest powers is limited by the power points you have available. Your base daily allotment of power points is given on the table. In addition, you receive bonus power points per day if you have a high Wisdom score. Your race may also provide bonus power points per day, as may certain feats and items. If a Soulmonk has power points from a different class, those points are pooled together and usable to manifest powers from either class. Bonus power points from having a high ability score can be gained only for your highest psionic class.

Powers Known

A Soulmonk chooses his powers from the psychic warrior power list. At 1st level, you know two psychic warrior power of your choice. At every level higher than 1st, you learn two new powers. You can manifest any power that has a power point cost equal to or lower than your manifester level. The total number of powers you can manifest per day is limited only by your daily power points.

A Soulmonk simply knows his powers; they are ingrained in your mind. You do not need to prepare them (in the way that some spellcasters prepare their spells), though you must get a good night’s sleep each day to regain all your spent power points.

Maximum Power Level Known

A Soulmonk gains the ability to learn two 1st-level powers when you take your first level in the prestige class. As you attain each level beyond 2nd, you gain the ability to master more complex powers.

To learn or manifest a power, a Soulmonk must have a Wisdom score of at least 10 + the power’s level.

Soul Strike: At second level, you gain the ability to apply your Wisdom Modifier to attack rolls, in place of your strength, when using your Mind Blade in the form of a Monk weapon, or to imbue your fists.

Mental Mastery: At third level, the combination of your talents with the Mind Blade and your Monk training in meditation give you acute control over your mind blade. You may always materialize your Mind Blade as a Free Action. However, in a Null Psionics Field, you must still succeed on a will save to do so.

Flurry of Throws: At sixth level, you gain the ability to throw your Mind Blade in conjunction with your Flurry of Blows ability. You may throw the blade as many times in a round as you have attacks using your Flurry of Blows ability.

Improved Evasion: See the Monk class feature (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/classes/monk.htm#monkImprovedEvasion).

The only reason this is better than either is that it gets powers. In fact, it gets it's powers earlier than a psywar, although with it's ML so low it can't really augment it's buffs to be as good.

Well, that's not true; it's better than both because it progresses two crappy classes, gets full BAB (unlike either of them), and gives you a decent enough wisdom synergy, but without powers it would still be T5.

Which is exactly why I gave it powers.

EDIT: In essence, the idea was to reward someone who suffered through five levels of useless crap by giving them something that not only make their useless crap improve, but actually have some use.

It's four levels of useless crap, actually, because you need two level of monk and two levels of soulknife (or, in fact, a monk's belt, two levels of soulknife, and enough to get evasion from something useful).

Basically, at level 15, it's more powerful than a psiwar (more powers known, with the same max level), and gets other features... and then it's still probably more powerful than a psywar because this will have better BAB, saves, and a few features. Still... the last five levels you have are essentially dead.

What tier is a Psiwar considered, 3?

Reasonable concept.

You use the term "War Mind" at one point, which is probably a copy-pasta (sic) error.

Probably needs an ability (NOT necessarily at 10th level), that if you started out in monk, then took some levels in Soulknife that you can now multi-class freely between the two, rather than never being able to take a level of monk again.

If you make your psi-blade into a quarterstaff, you need to specify that the enhancement bonuses work the same as for the "two-shortswords" version in the old class (however that was... THINK you got the full enhancement to both).

Does "Mental Mastery" allow you to ignore the concentration check to materialize your blade in an... I forget what they are actually called but... "Anti-Psionics Field"?

Added the multiclassing ability, the double-weapon enhancements and clarified on Mental Mastery.

This would only net you +2 BaB, meaning, if you enter as intended, you actually need six levels of the useless crap, by my re-count.
