Aright, short version, I wanna play with spelljammer in 3.5. It's likely going to be integrated with other settings somehow...

Where do I go? Im not adverse to buying small heaps of books if necessary.

homebrew. just assign the other races a new set of stats and come up with something for the ship based stuff and the rest takes care of itself for the most part.

You go Beyond the Moons (http://www.spelljammer.org/), of course (but watch out for the Neogi).

EDIT: Ninja'd!

Spelljammer has an (semi)official website. (http://www.spelljammer.org/)

All of the discontinued 2E settings from Birthright to Spelljammer have been continued by fans into 3.5. Wizards has been pretty good about letting people continue old material.

Here are some links I dug up.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spelljammer Good start for the basics.

http://www.spelljammer.org/sj3e/ Not much here but some monsters and stuff. A long while ago wizards gave them rights to operate or something. Quality is dubious at best.

If you can get your hands on the original spelljammer 2e boxed set you would need little more than time to change it over to 3.5 rules.
Its pictured on the wiki here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SpelljammerAdventuresInSpaceBox.jpg).

Barring that the Pirates of realmspace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spelljammer:_Pirates_of_Realmspace) was a friggin GREAT game. If you could get that you'd have a visual idea of the spelljammer world and the rules. (getting it to run can be rather tricky)

Without the ability to hand you my books I can't help you out further.

*EDIT*
Or I could just point you to ebay for a well worn copy on the cheap (http://cgi.ebay.com/AD-D-2nd-Edition-Spelljammer-Adventures-In-Space_W0QQitemZ350293098798QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_D efaultDomain_0?hash=item518f18812e).

Yeah, read the wiki page, seemed interesting...the basics of combat on the site seem reasonable enough, though they require more fleshing out, and I need more stats...

Has WoTC published any normal ship combat stuff for 3.5? That seems like it'd be quite applicable.

Not officially but there is a 3rd party book. Shipbuilders guide I think its called. It wasn't half bad but it was 3.0 I think.

Vehicle rules were in sword and fist too if I recall but I don't remeber if it covered ships. (Actually I'm not sure if they were in sword and fist, Sorry!)

Check Stormwrack (which also has a version of the Hadozee in it).
