View Full Version : Don't Split The Party spoilers.

Don't Split The Party has a chart near the beginning that outlines character relationships, which confirms that Belkar wants to lay Vaarsuvius, so vindication! Being proven right about something OOTS related feels weird.

The only other thing that the comic hasn't explicitly revealed yet that I found is that Sabine wants to lay Kevin Bacon. But it may have other things that I haven't noticed yet.

And it also lays the foundation for what I would actually love as a gag-a-day comic: Farmers of the Dirt!

Why is it either in this instance? Belkar and Vaarsuvius have a few things in common, the lust for XP, the impulsive, arrogant tendencies. And curiosity can make people do all sorts of desperate, pathetic things. That isn't even mentioning the drunken New-Years kiss.

Or V's assessment of Belkar's personality.

Perhaps V's tour of the niftier side of the alignment pool reset Belkar's feelings back toward lust?

I suppose that's as much proof as we need that the crack pairing mindset is contagious.

Okay. XD On a more serious note, I'm kind of happy. It promises hilarious developments. And I've always wondered what the hell the point of that whole New Year's Kiss storyline was if the Giant wasn't going to go SOMEWHERE with it.

Out of curiosity, what exactly does it say?

The "Cast of Characters" page is (this time) a huge Relationship Diagram, where all of the characters are interconnected with relationship lines/arrows, along with affiliation bubbles. The lines are things like "Wants to kill", "Killed", "Is Employed by", etc.

One of the relationship lines is "Wants to shtup (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/shtup)". Among the lines of people who are connected by the "Wants to shtup" line is Belkar to V.

Sadly the line is not reciprocated. :smalltongue:

I always thought Belkar wanting to bang V would explain why he's so adamant about finding out V's gender. After all, he's "secure in his manhood". He wants to stay that way. XD

...Care to elaborate?

Read the sentence?

Rich writes Vaarsuvius has not yet seen the consequences of the familliar spell. Given his further comment of "killing things just based on what they are" is wrong we have to ponder what could be the consequence.
We know it has to do with something with a "dead black dragon" (familice, you know?).
We also know that Serini filled her Dungeon with the most powerful monsters, reflecting Kragor's belief in physical might.

So, what would be the worst outcome? There was a black-dragon-guardian in the dungeon - which is dead now and won't be there to fight Xykon when he finally goes to that dungeon.

Sorry if I thought that was a rather obvious conclusion.

I would like to remind everyone that Belkar's lust for V does not make V's theory right. (i.e. it doesn't mean Belkar has a "proto-brain" with only two modes.)

It doesn't have to mean the dragon is dead even. The spell only killed relatives. It was discussed a lot when the spell happened that this still leaves friends and non blood related family members alive to seek retribution. That theory is now a little more plausible.

I like that in comic 528 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0528.html), the line "...I wish I could look back through this comic's archive" were changed to

"...I wish I had copies of the previous three books."

Nice continuity.

Although I would have thought that Belkar's anecdote in 645 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0645.html) would be changed, too, but it is not.

Technically, it's still correct, as the 'next book' in this case isn't Don't Split The Party, but #5... however unlikely having the scene in it may be.

The point ChristFortyTwo is making is that the scene that Belkar is referencing was just in the last few preceeding pages of the book. In other words, while other speeches were changed, this one wasn't. It could have changed to something like, "Boy I sure am glad we found the time to show this scene in this book", or something similar.

Not a really huge or earthshattering error. Just something worthy of minor notice.
