As the title says, whats your favorite Christmas song? Or top favorites? What about least favorites? You don't have to but it would be nice if we had an explenation for why you picked that song. Or just tell us something about it. I'll go first.

My absolute favorite Christmas song is Here We Come A-Wassailing. I even bought it for my iPod.

Fun fact: A wassail is a spiced alcoholic beverage, and to go a-wassailing is to go from door to door in your town or neighborhood and share said spiced alcoholic beverage.

Whats yours?

Serious one: Jul, Jul Strålande Jul (no idea if it has an English name)

Funny one: The Swedish chef one, whatever it's called.

My favorite? Juice Leskinen - Sika ("http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnE4Jmv8Fto).

Hark, the Herald Angels Sing - it's the one I most enjoy singing.

Dislike the most - The First Noel - it's weak poetically, and it doesn't scan well.

I do believe that my favorite is The Night Santa Went Crazy (Weird Al Yankovic) - it's funny and well-made.

My least favorite is Do you see what I see? - it's annoying, badly written, gets the story wrong and has been infesting the local radio stations like Space Herpes (a cookie to whomever gets the reference). I'm starting to enter a zen-like rage whenever I hear it, frankly.

Favorite: You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch, I'm Gettin' Nuttin' For Christmas (robber version), Carol of the Bells, White Christmas, Hallelujah Chorus, and Good King Wenceslas

Least favorite: I Wanna Hippopotamus for Christmas, Santa Baby, that song about the shoes.

Fairytale of New York by The Pogues.

This is the correct answer.

Probably yes, but Jonathan Coulton has some awesome Christmas music.

Also, the song from How King Deedeedee stole Christmas is great.

Always liked "Carol of the Bells". Especially when played by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Oh mercy, that shoe song is wretched. Also not a fan of the Little Drummer Boy. Other than that, I'm an anti-Grinch as long as you're not playing the same four songs over and over and over and over again. Ahhh, I think I won't list the best ones because they're generally the ones that are over a hundred years old and I'm not sure that Roland wants us to talk about liking the songs that are essentially religious content (even if they're awesome and loved for being great music, which they are).

(Okay, one other gripe, which is that the Hallelujah Chorus is an Easter song. Fill up on For Unto Us A Child Is Born instead.)

Just to lift up something that I came across this summer that it getting lots of play in my house is this (http://www.doubtfulpalace.com/artists/PledgeDrive/xmasrhaplyrics.html).

Well, I've been listening to these "Very Scary Soltice" songs made by H.P.Lovecraft fans which make new lyrics to Christmas songs so that they tell about Lovecraftian stuff. They're mostly fun, and my family hasn't noticed anything. (Because they don't understand that much English).

If I have to include actual Christmas songs, I like "Jouluhymni" and "Jouluyön hymni" (which have similar names but are totally different songs). I don't know if they are in English, though.

I heard this one from (guess who) my Delta Green GM. I think it may be one of the ones Marry Leathert mentioned.

Freddy the Red Brained Migo...
Had a very shiny brain.
And if you ever saw it...
You would scream and go insane.

All of the other Migo..
Used to laugh and make remarks...
They would never let poor Freddy...
Join in their dark arts.

Then one eerie Cult-day-eve,
Hastur came and said;
"Freddy with your brain so red,
Won't you make some humans dead?"

And then all the migo loved him
As they shouted out with glee...
Freddy the red brained migo...
Will end all humanity.

Tune of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Bah, the Chorus is too good a song to be limited to one holiday.

Carol of the Bells, regardless of singer or group has always been mine.

However, the very best rendition of my favorite christmas song is...

Hmm... Not sure about my proper favorite,
But when it's for pure sillyness, then we have

(Warning, slightly disturbing image) It's The Most Horrible Time Of The Year (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ie9S59ZzLFM) and
"A pirate christmas", downloadable for free Here (http://www.tomsmithonline.com/freestuff/index.html)

Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the feast of Stephen
When the snow lay round about
Deep and crisp and even
Brightly shone the moon that night
Though the frost was cruel
When a poor man came in sight
Gath'ring winter fuel

"Hither, page, and stand by me
If thou know'st it, telling
Yonder peasant, who is he?
Where and what his dwelling?"
"Sire, he lives a good league hence
Underneath the mountain
Right against the forest fence
By Saint Agnes' fountain."

"Bring me flesh and bring me wine
Bring me pine logs hither
Thou and I will see him dine
When we bear them thither."
Page and monarch forth they went
Forth they went together
Through the rude wind's wild lament
And the bitter weather

"Sire, the night is darker now
And the wind blows stronger
Fails my heart, I know not how,
I can go no longer."
"Mark my footsteps, good my page
Tread thou in them boldly
Thou shalt find the winter's rage
Freeze thy blood less coldly."

In his master's steps he trod
Where the snow lay dinted
Heat was in the very sod
Which the Saint had printed
Therefore, Christian men, be sure
Wealth or rank possessing
Ye who now will bless the poor
Shall yourselves find blessing.

Favorite secular X-mas song - Snoopy's Christmas by The Royal Guardsman.

Very, very nice. I still have that on vinyl somewhere.

Others:

Classic: God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (I always associate it with the creepiness of some early productions of Chistmas Carol from my childhood).

Little Drummer Boy (especially Joan Jett's rendition)

modern: Christmas Rapping by the Waitresses.

also "Christmas Time is Here" from the Charlie Brown Christmas special.

and for satirical songs, absolutely nothing beats the album "Oh Vey in a Manger" by the Kinsey Sicks.

My absolute favorite is Augie Rios' version of ¿Dónde Está Santa Claus?

Something great about a kid asking someone named Hot Mama about Santa's whereabouts.

I'm also a fan of Rudolph, Little Drummer Boy and Christmas Is All Around (from Love Actually).
