I'm a gnome illusionist with a massive gp supply. What is the best gear I can get?

A Rod of Excellent Magic and a Book of Exalted Deeds. :smalltongue:

Sorry.
What level are you at now, and what items do you already have? What sources are allowed? What do your feats look like?

Obviously INT and CHA boosters (note that MIC let's ability boosts stack without extra costs, so you can just add them to any cape and helm you wear) and a + UMD item (plus masterwork tool if you can make one)

What schools did you bar?

Matamane

Evocation
Conjuration
Necromancy

What? Why conjuration and not enchantment?

In that case (if you can't change it) you want the rainment of the... someone piece that let's you drop a spell slot for teleport times/day (the entire set is cheep with nice stuff for specialist and Warmage and co focused casters).

Conjuration is pointless with shadowcraft

Isn't Shadowcraft the cheese that lets Shadow Conjuration mimick spells greater than it's level (or was it the one that let every illusion act as a shadow ____ spell?)? Shadow Conjuration still can't mimick [calling] spells and a few other sub schools that aren't [creation] or [summoning].

Shadow Illusion can only mimic Evocation, Conjuration (Summoning) and Conjuration (Creation) spells. Nothing else.

Don't ban Conjuration, seriously.

As for equipment... a Lesser Rod of Quicken Spell never hurt anyone. There's plenty of lower-level spells you'll want to be able to cast quickly.

Arcane Disciple(Luck) fixes everything. Shadow Illusion Miracle to mimic any spell of 7 or lower, or any cleric spell 8th or lower.

If I was in your shoes (which I'm a bit glad I'm not; a fully-cheesed shadowcraft mage incantarix//artificer feels a bit too much for me), I'd just go through the Treasure Tables in the back of the Magic Item Compendium and work my way down from 15th-level items.

Since no-one's yet mentioned a "must-have" item for your build, it's pretty safe to assume there isn't one, and just buy whatever interests you.

seeing as our DM party wiped us twice in the span of 4 sessions, I dont feel so bad. :)

And what if you want a Conjuration spell of 8th or 9th level, [i]huh[i]?

Looking only at SRD spells atm.

I lose Teleportation Circle, Maze, and Greater Planar Binding

What's the big deal?

I have Greater Planar Ally

You lose Gate's calling function, Refuge, Teleportation Circle, Maze and Greater Planar Binding.

Let me say this again: You lose Gate's calling function.

Do you really want to miss out on that?
