Sapphire Smite:2 Essentia

I take a Run action to M12, as there isn't much I can do at this distance.

Turn ended.

Koury

Move to S13, ready action

LoE=MM

The gladiator in your sig?

IncarnumJunkie
2010-01-02, 12:54 PM
Move to O11. End turn.

Why? I see a lot of people doing it.
Bad idea tactically?

Koury

No, not at all, I just want to edit my OP to not be all generic

Mine are in my sig.

Sheets are always posted in the first post in official matches so people can scope out their opposition.

Anyway, you trigger my ready action as you step into LoE.

Cast spell

Spellcraft DC 16 to openMM

[roll0]

And then I repeat that spell as I still have LoE to your square.

[roll1]

Move to T16, end turn.

IncarnumJunkie

Move to O10.
Cure Light Wounds potion:
[roll0]

End turn.

I'm kinda confused as to what you did that I'd have not been able to see. I'm not terribly familiar with incarnum but should I have a check to identify something? It could affect my turn based on what I learn.

Double move to X6 if there is nothing for me to know.

IncarnumJunkie
2010-01-02, 01:55 PM
Sorry. You may read the spoiler if you wish, I forgot that these were glass walls.

PS it wasn't incarnum.

Koury

Healing eh? My turn remains as posted. You're up.

IncarnumJunkie
2010-01-02, 02:12 PM
Double move to T6 if you are making the move to X6.

(Sorry for putting it in spoilers. I'll make my physical actions visible from now on, but the effects are still in spoilers if they should be.)

Koury
2010-01-02, 02:28 PM
No, yeah, thats fine, I was just confused. I can usually guess what someone did, but had no idea there. I should see you pull and drink the potion, but not really know how much you heal.

Risky time.

Move to Z1.

End

IncarnumJunkie

Run to Y1

(I know I'm crazy, but against spellcasters i call for desperate action).

I do believe I now threaten you.

Koury

So be it. Cashing in all my chips.

Defensive Casting
[roll0] vs DC 17

If successful, no AoO for you.

If not, I'll roll Concentration after seeing if you hit.

Cast a spell.

Spellcraft DC 17Ray of Frost, Fell Drained

[roll1] vs Touch AC 12
[roll2]Plus one negative level

If that hits, open spoiler. Also, if it hits, game over. Heres to hoping.

EDIT: :smallsigh: + :smallmad: Really? I'd have rather rolled a one then an eight. This fight just got a lot harder.

Aeochromine smiles wickedly as the spell misses him narrowly.
"I'm going to enjoy this!"

Roll attack and damage

[roll1d8+2

Also making an intimidate check whether I hit or miss. Disregard this roll if I one-shot you.

Intimidate:
[roll1]

"Wake up, Warmage, it's time to die!"

Koury
2010-01-02, 03:27 PM
That 15 misses regardless, and I'd assume a 9 on intimidate does nothing.

Lets see.

5 Foot to the east.

Cast defensively.
[roll0] vs DC 16

Cast spell.MM, cashing in two lvl 0s. For the record, I have 2 lvl 0 slots after this action remaining

[roll1]

End.

*bangheadkeyboard*

I hate versing spellcasters...

I also retcon my prior post having forgotten completely that the run action eschews the Dex bonus to AC

Koury
2010-01-02, 03:42 PM
Man, so I hit?!

Flippin sweet! I was in a ton of trouble. after that miss. 2 level 0 slots I was gonna burn for another MM and then my dragon breath. That is all I had.

I was looking all over for some reason I didn't miss. I completely forgot you ran.

IncarnumJunkie
2010-01-02, 03:44 PM
Hang on I do have to retcon that post. WAIT (will edit hang on)

You still have to make that intimidation check. It's d20 + level + Wisdom Modifier + whatever modifiers you have against fear.

If you don't pass, you take a -2 to all attacks, ability checks and saving throws although this doesn't amount to much concerning concentration.

However, what is the roll to successfully cast the spell? I don't cast spells, but I know that if you fail the roll, you not only provoke an attack of opportunity but you completely lose the spell.

So check for me: did you successfully blow my head off with that Magic Missile or did the spell fizzle?

Koury
2010-01-02, 03:53 PM
Your intimidate came after I'd have hit you with my spell that killed you.

As far as defensive casting:

Casting on the Defensive

Casting a spell while on the defensive does not provoke an attack of opportunity. It does, however, require a Concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) to pull off. Failure means that you lose the spell.

So DC 17, which I surpassed by a large margin.

(oy...now I understand that I really am dead...just looked up negative levels...)
(((...thinking about the wrong spell...)))

Koury

Ah, I see

Negative levels = win life. Thats why Xykon tosses maxed energy drains all the time.
