Well, there's no need to put it in a spoiler. If you look in the first post, there is a link to creating to posting which also gives you tables to help make it look better.

You've got really tough prerequisites. Are there any standard planes of Madness? This might be an impossible class to join.

It's more of a class you would make your character based around.

Is the Plane of Madness the same thing as the Far Realm? Also, what is "algie"? Algae?

And you should really use tables.

Prestige classes should not be designed around a specific character or there's no point to sharing it with the rest of us. While this prestige class might work in your campaign, it probably wouldn't work in anyone else's because of the prerequisites you list.

However, if the Far Realms is sufficient for a "Plane of Madness" then it becomes a slightly broader choice for the rest of us.

You can have tough requirements, but for homebrewing it helps to use standard requirements.

You could completely exclude the prerequisites if you used it. The class isn't in any way set in stone.

Something like that. It's most likely where Cthulhu is from and other creatures of the like. As far as tables goes, to be honest I don't know how.

That's okay. Since you are new here I'll help with the table. It does make things a lot easier to read.

You can copy the table now that I'm done and put it in your post by quoting my post, copying the table and closing my post (you aren't actually responding just opening it to copy the text) and then go back to your original post, edit and copy my table into it.

Also, now that I'm in full editing mode, what books are you using? If you are using Call of Cthulhu D20 that would be helpful to know. It's out of print but there was a lot of cool stuff in there. You can still find copies on Amazon.com from their sellers not from Amazon directly though.

Also, a requirement of four 3rd level Necromancy spells screws over Sorcerers unnecessarily. For Wizards, it's a nonissue; at worst it wastes 1,200 gp. For Sorcerers, they can't do it until 9th, and they need to spend all three of their 3rd level spells known on Necro spells - and 3rd level is not a good level for Necro spells, at least in the SRD. Ray of Exhaustion's OK, but not great, Halt Undead's only useful in extremely undead-heavy campaigns, Gentle Repose is a utility spell that will rarely see use, and Vampiric Touch means going into melee. Four not-very-good options, and you can't take Fly, Haste, GMW, Dispel Magic, Major Image, etc etc.

I agree that it is not a good prestige class for a sorcerer to take. As the original poster previously noted, it is a prestige class that is suppose to have a narrow focus. I've no objection to it on those grounds. Prestige classes can be designed for a specific campaign in mind or even for a particular character. That said, it's not a bad prestige class for an NPC villain. It could be useful for some specialist necromancer with the Heighten Spell feat.

I do like the idea of the connection with the Far Realms. You could certainly add a connection to the Cthulhu Mythos as well.

Alas, we may never know what infection algae is, what it does, or where it comes from.
