Once, I had an idea for a fanfic set in the aftermath of Metroid Fusion, where Samus teams up with Captain Falcon to evade the pursuit of the Galactic Federation, who have recovered the Master Chief, upgraded his equipment, and sent him after them. Captain Falcon acts Crazy Awesome (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CrazyAwesome) throughout, such as breathing in space (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BatmanCanBreatheInSpace) and removing the helmet of his GF Trooper disguise to reveal his Captain Falcon helmet underneath. Turns out he was kidnapped by Space Pirates as a child, and they experimented on him with Ridley DNA, which is the reason for his fire powers. Eventually he loses his helmet to reveal glowing eyes surrounded by inhuman scales, and he releases his full power to fight R]dley, his whole body bursting into flames.

Anyway, I had a more recent thought: a Super Robot Wars clone with Nintendo characters would be awesome. Something like Battle Moon Wars (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqtbnxiyHQw) was for TYPE-MOON. I realised that some of the ideas from that old fanfic could be used in the plot (BMW had a plot set after the events of its component series, after all).

Such a game would require plentiful SRW shoutouts in the characters' movesets, so here are a few:

EDIT: No, they are not piloting mecha. They're just using SRW mechanics. Like this. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqtbnxiyHQw)

Samus
Shine Spark (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zJgEn68oYE) (ending with Samus transforming to Morphball in place of Open Get)
Can possibly change between Fusion suit (fast) and Power Suit (powerful)

Captain Falcon
Gespenst Kick (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5Z3DIbrtR0)
Jet Magnum (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWBTwDa4Wy4)
Jinrai (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctKXt4Lj9GI) (unlocked in the Ridley fight)

Ridley
Ray Buster (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYJocbTtBI8)
Jeeg Breaker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5H-_5yk2gk) (using tail to grab enemy, based on Ridley's tendency to grab Samus, fly into a wall and explode while at low health in Super Metroid)

Dark Samus
(a "nightmare" summoned from Samus's mind)
Uses attacks from Zweizergain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9bGGp6fE44) (based on MP3's "Dark Echoes")
After defeat, merges with nightmares of SA-X and Ridley (from the day he killed Samus's parents) to form a beast resembling Getter Emperor

Link
Some Gorons throw Link the Megaton Hammer, leading to an overly-long attack animation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwLg4tYvg0k)
Combination Attack (with Zelda and Ganondorf): "These hands of ours are burning gold! Their loud roar tells us to grasp victory! Take this, our power, our wisdom, and all of our COURAAAAGE! TRIFOOOORCE... FIIIIIIINGER!!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt1bNu_GMh8)"

Meta Knight
Uses attacks from Vysaga (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I87lP48mng)

Lucario
Uses attacks from Soulgain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrekPc9U85U)

EDIT: Again, they are not piloting mecha.

At the very least, someone needs to edit some Gespenst clips to make it look like it's being piloted by Captain Falcon. :smalltongue:

You have some serious power gaps in your links....

None of the Final Smashes as even VAUGELY equivalent in size, and power.

You have to take into account that Hyrule Temple is smaller then these Gundams, and that's considered a stage all on it's own.

Now factor in, that the attack is AS BIG as one of these monstrosities, and twice as wide.

You'd need some crazy logic as to WHY they would get a Mecha as well...

Like namely how does LINK a person in a Fantasy Universe, gain the knowlwedge of how to pilot a Seven Story Tall Ultra Tech Future Machine?

Hell, my guess is that he'd be in culture shock from simply being made so obsolete.

I'm not saying it's a BAD idea, I'm just saying it needs some fleshing out.:smallwink:

Have him use a G-Fighter. Bam. All his combat abilities and knowledge are now translated perfectly into his mecha piloting skills.

But as for Link, he masters every weapon he finds instantly. Every weapon. :smallwink:

Hey, if the Hulk can have his own mecha I don't see why Link can't.

The first paragraph involved Captain Falcon breathing in space.

I sincerely doubt they care too much about relevant power levels and the logic of adding mechas.

I didn't say I was adding mechas. :smallconfused:

The Captain Falcon thing was intended to be a running gag which makes perfect sense once you find out the reason for it (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CerebusRetcon) (Ridley's species can breathe in space, and Falcon's glowing eyes freak people out).
