View Full Version : Neverending Dungeon - Gravedigger

Tanaric

The air surrounding you fairly hums with the residue of magic, an aftereffect of the spell that brought you to this place. A quick glance reveals that you are in a small room, devoid of any life save for yourself. The sound of dripping water can be heard faintly, and the stone walls are slick with moisture. In complete defiance of logic, a torch is already lit, resting in a sconce near the room's single door.

There is a door at C-4, south side.

Gravedigger pulls out his trusty 10-foot pole and carefully pokes at the room's floor, then its walls. Being unable to reach the ceiling, he then forcefully pokes the door.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 02:19 AM
The floor, walls and door are now poked. They don't seem to mind. Nothing happens.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 02:22 AM
Taking up his tower shield in one hand, leaving the other empty, the 'forged attempts to open the door.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 02:24 AM
Hmm.. One of my characters was a tomb tainted forged.. For the purpose of Charnel Touch you are counted as undead and heal 1hp per touch, not 1d8 like it can damage.

The door opens to reveal a hall going east and south. It is dark.

What are your vision modes?

Eurus
2010-01-03, 02:28 AM
Normal vision only. Gravedigger will grab the torch so he can see.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 02:30 AM
East the hall goes beyond the light. 10ft down it splits north and south. 30ft down (20ft after the split) there is a door on the northern side.

South it goes 30ft before ending with a T intersection going south and east. 20ft down there is a split east.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 02:36 AM
Gravedigger will get his trusty barrel of firewood (which is tied to his horse with 50 feet of rope in case he has to retrieve it) and roll it down the hallway east ahead of him until it hits the door or triggers something.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 02:41 AM
The barrel won't be able to hit the door as it is on the northern side, not directly in the hall in front of the barrel.

The barrel falls into a pit 20ft down the hall. It is a 5X5ft pit 20ft deep, so the barrel will hit the ground for [roll0] damage.

Where is the horse located?

Eurus
2010-01-03, 02:43 AM
The horse is standing in the doorway. Wood has a hardness of 5, so it shouldn't even dent.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 02:47 AM
Indeed. What do you do now?

Eurus
2010-01-03, 02:50 AM
Gravedigger and the horse will haul the barrel out of the hole. Between the two of them, they should have no problems with that. Does the trapdoor spring shut, or stay open?

Sliver
2010-01-03, 02:52 AM
No door, the floor just breaks and reveals the pit.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 02:57 AM
Ah, okay. In that case, after getting the barrel up, Gravedigger will get a running start and try to jump the pit.

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 02:59 AM
You make the jump.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:14 AM
Alright then. I could bring the horse over, but I won't bother right now. Instead I'll just try the door and hope that I'm durable enough to survive the consequences.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:17 AM
Opening the door reveals the following room:

{table]|A_|B_|C_|D_|E_
1|||||
2|||||
3|||1||
4|||||
5|||||[/table]

There is a door at A5 south, which you are outside of, and another at E1 north.

In the room there is an ugly humanoid with blue scales and fire in it's mouth. He wears robes which poorly cover his chainmail.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:18 AM
You start..

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:22 AM
Alright then. Gravedigger will use his shield for full cover and cast Inflict Light Wounds, holding the charge in his empty hand.

Tanaric
2010-01-03, 03:23 AM
No.

My interpretation of tower shields "giving up all attacks" includes any standard actions, especially hostile ones. ILW is a hostile action, held charge or no. Otherwise we get into stupidity involving non-attack SLA's, etc. It's been discussed in the Arena before, and the results weren't amusing, to say the least.

And so help me, if I hear one word about Invisible Tower Shields, bad things will happen.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:27 AM
Fair enough. I figured holding the charge would work, since it's not targeting anyone else, but if it's giving up all standard actions then so be it. I'll move up to B-3 and poke the thing with an Inflict Light, then.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:29 AM
It steps back, opens it's mouth and fires a line of electricity at you!

[roll0] electricity damage, DC15 reflex for half.

You are also entangled for [roll1] rounds.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:32 AM
Oh my. And where did it move to?

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:33 AM
5ft step to D2.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:35 AM
[roll0]

I'm assuming this isn't the "completely immobile" kind of entangled, right? Just the half-speed, -2 on attacks, and -4 on dexterity?

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:36 AM
Yeah.WHITE

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:39 AM
Alright then. I'll move to engage it in melee, and try to poke it again.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:41 AM
You hit.

It breathes at you fire. [roll0] DC15 reflex half.

You also suffer [roll1] electricity damage.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:42 AM
Uh-oh. [roll0]

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:45 AM
Oh great. Well I'm in trouble now... let's try Profane Lifeleech.

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:48 AM
Alright, it breaths more fire at you.

[roll0] same save.

You suffer another [roll1] electricity damage.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:49 AM
Reflex:
[roll0]

EDIT: That should have been +1, my bad. It's still a 15, so that doesn't change anything.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:52 AM
You have no idea how much I hate this thing already. Since I hate energy attacks so much, how about another Profane Lifeleech.

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:53 AM
It goes down. 150xp. Chainmail. You suffer another [roll0] electricity damage before the effect ends.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:58 AM
Woo. >_>

Gravedigger heals up to full with Charnel Touch over the course of a minute or so, then takes the chainmail and brings it back to the horse.

[roll0]

After storing his loot with his mount, he'll go to where the east hallway splits north and south and take a look in both directions.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 04:11 AM
It goes north for 20ft and turns east. To the south it goes 20ft before going west. 15ft into the southern hallway there is a door on the eastern side.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 04:14 AM
Alright, Gravedigger will go 15 feet south, take full cover from his shield, and attempt to open the door.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 04:16 AM
As you step into the south going split, the floor fails below you. Give me a reflex save!

Eurus
2010-01-03, 04:21 AM
Reflex:
[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 04:24 AM
You fall down 20ft and take [roll0] falling damage. I believe DR blocks some of that.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 04:29 AM
Yeah, 2 points. So Gravedigger will heal himself up with Charnel Touch, then try to get out with his grappling hook.

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 04:30 AM
The hook fails to catch and falls.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 04:31 AM
Whoops, failure. So it comes loose [roll0] rounds later. He auto-passes the DC 0 climb check to climb a knotted rope with a wall to brace against, but his speed is 20, so he climbs 5 feet with a move action. So it's possible that he gets to the top before it comes loose.

EDIT: Oh wait, it only falls out if you fail by more than 5. Funny, now I wish I had. >_>

Eurus
2010-01-03, 04:33 AM
[roll0]

He'll get out of that hole eventually...

EDIT: Okay, if he falls, he'll patch himself up with Charnel Touch. Eventually he's getting out of this hole. So do you mind if I fast-forward him out of there, or is the exact number of rounds it takes important?

Sliver
2010-01-03, 04:34 AM
Well, you have [roll0] rounds till it falls..

Sliver
2010-01-03, 04:37 AM
It hardly matters.. But you manage to get out finally.. You are at the door, you don't hear anything..

Eurus
2010-01-03, 05:14 AM
Alright. Gravedigger makes certain that he's fully healed, takes cover behind his shield, and opens the door.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 05:16 AM
Can you open a door without having LoS to it? Could you see through the shield into the room?

Eurus
2010-01-03, 01:35 PM
Heck if I know. But alright, I'll open the door without cover. Starting to seriously question the usefulness of this tower shield now...

Sliver
2010-01-03, 01:39 PM
Opening the door reveals the following room:

{table]|A_|B_|C_|D_|E_
1|||||
2|||||
3|||||
4||||B|H[/table]

There is a door at A-2, which you are just outside of, another at E-4, south side and another at E-3. There is a human wearing a chain shirt standing behind a beast with patchy dark fur that covers its unhealthy shrunken black skin in some places. Open sores dot its hide and a feral, catlike head glances with it's blank eyes at the wall in front of it.

Initiative:[roll0]

Tanaric
2010-01-03, 01:40 PM
Total cover definitionally blocks all LoS, unless you're hiding behind something you can see through.

Also, I don't think Gravedigger's skills are accounting for his ACP from Adamantine Body.

/pick nits.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 01:52 PM
Oops, I'm used to online sheets that count that in automatically. >_> You can't hold me accountable for that, though, since nobody else noticed until now. :smalltongue:

Anyway, fixed.

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 01:55 PM
Looks like I'm back to sucking at initiative.. Your go..

Eurus
2010-01-03, 01:55 PM
Gravedigger considers shutting the door and calmly walking away, but figures that the human would probably try to follow him. So instead, he stays where he is in the doorway and readies an action to strike the first enemy to engage him in melee with a Charnel Touch.

[roll0]
[roll1]

EDIT: And I'm back to sucking at attack rolls. :smallsigh:

Sliver
2010-01-03, 01:57 PM
The man ignores you.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 01:59 PM
Huh, what do you know. Alright, I'll shut this door and leave it alone for right now. Maybe I'll come back later.

Gravedigger goes the rest of the way south, and down the west turn. He'll continue following this hall until he gets to a door, a fork, or a trap.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 02:05 PM
The hall goes east for 40ft and turns north. 35ft into the hall there is a door on the northern side, and a bullseye painted in front of it.

To the west it goes 10ft before turning south. Then 10ft south before turning east. The hall goes east beyond sight. 25ft into the hall you see a door on the northern side. 10ft beyond that spot, you feel the floor failing. Reflex.

Good thing you left your horse back there!

Eurus
2010-01-03, 02:18 PM
Well, it's just meant to carry the loot anyway.

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 02:20 PM
*looks at HP* Hmm.. *Looks at max damage* :smallfrown: *looks at infinite healing* Lets ignore pits ok?

Your out eventually...

Eurus
2010-01-03, 02:24 PM
I can see what people meant now when they said infinite healing was a necessity. Either that, or extraordinarily good combat and trap-disarming skills. >_>

So... Gravedigger will go back to following the hallway, trying to figure out exactly how many rooms are in this dungeon floor.

Tanaric
2010-01-03, 02:26 PM
I'll see your extraordinarily good trapfinding skills and raise you a ten foot pole.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 02:30 PM
The first character I did that had infinite healing (Dragon shaman with the aura. Also, warforged with DR..) took me to level 2 of the dungeon..

Tanaric, should I just give him the map with all the corridors he can walk in without opening doors?

Tanaric:
Non of the traps can do anything to him, immunity to poison will cancel the 9 and any other trap won't be able to do anything so I can just tell that he finds cards and give him a map..

Eurus
2010-01-03, 02:32 PM
Meh. Normally I would, but really, why bother right now? As long as none of them one-shot me, I'm fine. Once I get to the next floor, I'll exercise more caution.

Tanaric
2010-01-03, 02:32 PM
Yes, if he wants it.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 02:39 PM
Sure, it'd be nice to have. Like I said, I'm trying to figure out how many rooms there are right now so I have a better idea of what I'm dealing with. And I'm working on mapping the place anyway, so it'd save me some time. :smallwink:

Sliver
2010-01-03, 02:44 PM
Well then.. Here is the map. 12 is starting room.. No notable traps, some pits, some darts shooting at you when you stumbled upon a tripwire, there is poison on them..

http://i863.photobucket.com/albums/ab192/msliver/map.jpg

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:01 PM
Okay then, very nice. Gravedigger will go attempt to open the bottom-leftmost room, from the left side.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:03 PM
Opening the door reveals the following room:
{table]|A_|B_|C_|D_|E_
1|||||
2|||||
3|||||
4||||B|H[/table]

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:04 PM
Oh that's right, it's the krenshar room. Forgot about that. >_>

Okay, so Gravedigger will close the door and go check out the room east of that one (the bottom rightmost room).

Tanaric
2010-01-03, 03:05 PM
Sliver:You mind want to amend your description to mention his longsword. I haven't seen it noted anywhere.

Not relevant to anything.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:09 PM
Tanaric:
It is his secret weapon! I will fix it now.. This is actually the first time I am compiling the full description of the rooms into my file..

Opening the door reveals the following room:
{table]|A_|B_|C_|D_|E_
1|||||
2|||||
3||||1|
4|||||
5||||| [/table]
There is a door at B5, which you are just outside of, and another at B1. There is an orc in the middle of the room. It holds a Ripper and wears a chainmail, as well as a pair of goggles.
Initiative:[roll0]

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:16 PM
Huh, I'm not familiar with a Ripper. What's that?

[roll0]

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:17 PM
Well assuming it's not a reach weapon or anything, I'll move to C-3 and try to Charnel Touch him.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:19 PM
It's like a greatsword, but a spear.

You hit, it attempts to hit you with his special awesome move! "Steely Strike!"

[roll0]
[roll1]

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:21 PM
That glances off my armor, but holy cow that would have hurt. :smalleek:

Retaliating with another Charnel Touch.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:23 PM
Another hit.

He tries to pierce you again.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:28 PM
Miss. Suddenly I'm remembering why that tower shield was worth it.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:30 PM
Miss. He tries to Steely Strike you again.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:32 PM
Please let me whittle him down to nothing before he kills me in two hits. :smalleek:

[roll0]
[roll1]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:34 PM
...

He falls.

150xp, Ripper (I believe it costs 10 more gp then a greatsword, right Tanaric?), a javelin, chainmail, Sundark Goggles and 300gp.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:37 PM
Well that's a relief. Okay, after collecting his loot and dropping it off with the horse, Gravedigger will go to the room east of room 14 and open it.

Tanaric
2010-01-03, 03:38 PM
5gp more. 55 gp total.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:40 PM
Opening the door reveals the following room:
{table]|A_|B_|C_|D_|E_|F_

2||||||
3||||||
4|||1|||
5||||||
6||||||[/table]
There is a door at A-6 west, which you are just outside of, another at E-1 and another at F-4. There is a kobold wearing a chain shirt and holding a short sword.
Initiative:[roll0]

Eurus
2010-01-03, 03:41 PM
Another kobold, huh? Alright then.

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-03, 03:46 PM
As he moves, shadows flutter and swarm around the kobold. It gains concealment against you for your next turn.

His sword doubles and both come at you.

[roll0]
[roll1]

If 1 hits:

[roll2]

If both hit, it deals an extra [roll3] cold damage.

Eurus
2010-01-03, 04:04 PM
Alright, seven damage to Gravedigger. Who will respond by calmly casting Inflict Light Wounds on himself.

[roll0]

Tanaric
2010-01-03, 04:06 PM
Gravedigger has DR 2/Adamantine, so that's actually 5 damage.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 04:12 PM
Don't you have DR? the 7 damage was normal short sword.. (Yeah, what Tanaric said..)

I believe you aren't threatening anything.. So..

It moves around, striking from 5ft away. His sword is made of fire suddenly!

[roll0]
Damage:
[roll1][roll2] (all fire damage). If hit, Fort save DC11. If fail, your attacks for the next turn suffer 20% miss chance.

Kobold has concealment against you anyway.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 04:16 PM
I believe the extra damage is doubled too..

Confirm:

[roll0]
[roll1][roll2]

Oh yeah, you have fortification.. Doesn't matter now... You survive btw? 16 damage I believe..

Tanaric
2010-01-03, 04:18 PM
Extra damage dice are never included in a crit.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 04:20 PM
Ah I thought it was only on precision damage like SA..

Eurus
2010-01-03, 04:42 PM
Gravedigger does threaten, actually, with his slam attack. Does that change the kobold's actions at all?

EDIT: And he's still alive, albiet grievously injured. Should be at 2 health.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 04:45 PM
Oh right the slam attack.. Make an AOO as he leaves your threat zone.

I thought you have 15hp? 5 damage from first attack and another 11 from this one..

Eurus
2010-01-03, 04:46 PM
*Crosses fingers*

[roll0]
[roll1]

EDIT: And I healed 3 with the Inflict Light on myself.

Sliver
2010-01-03, 04:51 PM
Oh wait a second.. Has more AC then what I thought at first glance.. You miss. Your turn.

Eurus
2010-01-06, 05:31 PM
Dang. Okay, I'm not entirely clear on the positioning here; could I get out the door without provoking an AoO?

Sliver
2010-01-07, 12:53 AM
Ugh.. I confused myself as well.. Unless I now forgot what I did, he did not gain reach so he is next to you and threatens..

Eurus
2010-01-07, 12:54 AM
Ah, okay. Well then. How far away is the open door? Can I reach it in 20 feet of movement?

Sliver
2010-01-07, 12:56 AM
I don't think you have moved beyond the doorway in this battle yet..

Eurus
2010-01-07, 02:43 AM
Okay, then I'll shut the door, and try to hold it shut. XD

Sliver
2010-01-07, 02:57 AM
.. Alright..

Eurus
2010-01-07, 03:02 AM
Well sorry, but I'm not going to stand and fight a losing battle. Does the kobold try to open the door? If not, I'll just patch myself up with Charnel Touch.

Sliver
2010-01-07, 03:04 AM
Then what?

Eurus
2010-01-07, 03:09 AM
...Well, I could open the door again. I'm not sure if the monsters here heal, but I assume they do for exactly this reason.

Sure, why not? I'll open the door again. New initiatives?

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-07, 03:20 AM
He stands right in front of the door, waiting for you!

[roll0]
[roll1]

(if one hits:)[roll2] (if both hit, add this:) [roll3]

Initiative: [roll4]

Eurus
2010-01-07, 03:37 AM
Both miss Gravedigger's flat-footed AC. And now I attempt to Charnel Touch him.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Sliver
2010-01-07, 03:41 AM
Miss. His blade turns into fire and he strikes:

[roll0]
[roll1][roll2]

If hit, you have 20%miss chance.

Eurus
2010-01-07, 03:58 AM
Miss, fortunately.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Sliver
2010-01-07, 04:15 AM
Miss.

A small fire elemental appears behind you, flanking.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Eurus
2010-01-07, 04:46 AM
Miss.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Sliver
2010-01-07, 04:50 AM
Hit.

He moves back, [roll0] - Tumble, if less then 15, provokes AOO.

Then he moves back to you, attacking.

[roll1]
[roll2]

You have 20% miss chance against him.

Eurus
2010-01-07, 04:51 AM
No AoO, but he misses.

[roll0]
[roll1]

EDIT: Forgot the miss chance, but it doesn't matter.

Sliver
2010-01-07, 04:59 AM
Tumble [roll0]

[roll1]
[roll2]

Same as before..

Eurus
2010-01-07, 05:02 AM
Another miss.

[roll0]
[roll1]
[roll2]

1-20 on the miss chance is a miss.

Sliver
2010-01-07, 05:05 AM
Tmble failed less turn so you get an AOO without the miss chance..

The other attack misses. Will roll after results in.

Eurus
2010-01-07, 05:06 AM
*Crosses fingers*

[roll=Attack]
[roll0]

Eurus
2010-01-07, 05:08 AM
Oops.

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-07, 05:09 AM
Miss..

Same as before:

Tumbe [roll0]

Who needs Martial Lore when you have vociferous opponents anyway? :smallwink:

Sliver
2010-01-07, 01:31 PM
Well, lest time I did it, I scored a a max damage and a confirmed crit for over 30 damage.. It was worth a shot..

Eurus
2010-01-07, 01:47 PM
Sadly, you missed. But one of us needs to crit already; this has gone on far too long. >_>

[roll0]
[roll1]
[roll2]

EDIT: A few decent rolls would help...

Sliver
2010-01-07, 02:02 PM
But that won't happen..

"Child of Shadow! Again!"

He tumbles back and returns.. Same deal..

Sliver
2010-01-07, 02:11 PM
It's not like you have about 50% chance of rolling above average...

[roll0]

"Child of Shadows! Yet again!"
[roll1]
[roll2]

Sliver
2010-01-07, 02:13 PM
AHA! I told you this works!

Although there is no chance of confirming..

[roll0]
[roll1]

Eurus
2010-01-07, 02:21 PM
I'd peg my chances of rolling above a 10 at about 20% right now. >_>

And Gravedigger takes 6 damage.

[roll2]

The kobold starts to talk.. "So.. What are you doing after this?"

Eurus
2010-01-07, 03:50 PM
"Well, that depends. If you kill me, I imagine I'll be doing very little besides rusting. Otherwise, I plan to continue roaming this dungeon, slaughtering every sentient being I come across without so much as a friendly nod. Yourself?"

"I was thinking of - GAH!"

He dies..

150xp, chain shirt, short sword. Congratz, I'm off to bed!

Eurus
2010-01-07, 04:21 PM
Oh thank goodness. >_>

Gravedigger will heal up, store the chain shirt and sword on his horse, then head to the room directly to the northwest of this one.

Sliver
2010-01-08, 02:07 AM
Opening the door reveals the following room:
{table]|A_|B_|C_|D_

The room contains a large chest with a note attached to it’s latch.

Eurus
2010-01-08, 03:23 AM
Hmm. Somehow I doubt Explosive Runes at only level 1.

Gravedigger reads the note.

Sliver
2010-01-08, 03:27 AM
You are the first one to think that...

“Greater rewards await the patient man, but only a fool waits forever.”

Eurus
2010-01-08, 03:35 AM
Heh, I find that funny.

Gravedigger ponders the note for a minute, then decides to heck with it and tries to open the chest.

Sliver
2010-01-08, 03:38 AM
You find 3 platinum pieces.

Eurus
2010-01-08, 03:44 AM
Gravedigger isn't particularly surprised by the sad lack of treasure, but decides on an impulse to scan the chest and the money with a Detect Magic spell anyway, figuring that there might be a lingering aura.

(Concentrating for 3 rounds, obviously.)

Sliver
2010-01-08, 03:47 AM
Nope, nothing. Maybe you weren't patient enough? :smallwink:

Eurus
2010-01-08, 03:50 AM
Heh, maybe. Oh well, platinum is platinum. Gravedigger snags his coins and heads to the room to the west.

Sliver

There is a door at A5 and C5.

Initiatve: [roll1]

Eurus
2010-01-08, 03:57 AM
I'm actually not quite sure what this thing is...

[roll0]
[roll1]

EDIT: Wait, the thing is flying?

Sliver
2010-01-08, 04:14 AM
Nah, it is attached to the wall. Forgot to mention..

Edit: Also, I mixed things up so you are actually east of chest room..

Eurus
2010-01-08, 04:19 AM
Hmm. Well, I do have some javelins, but I'm pretty awful at throwing them... even if I drop my tower shield, I'd be attacking at a -1. I'm going to leave this one alone, I think.

Gravedigger leaves, shuts the door, heals up, and heads to the room to the northwest.

EDIT: Oh, well then I'll go to the room west of the chest room. Not that it matters much, really.

Sliver
2010-01-08, 04:24 AM
Near one of the entrances there is a large red note card hanging from the wall btw..

Opening the door reveals the following room:
{table]|A_|B_|C_|D_|E_|F_

There is a monstrous humanoid that I don't know the description of in the room.

What does the card say? I assume I was able to check it during my wandering of the corridors. Also, I haven't entered the room with the target painted on the door yet, have I?

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-08, 04:32 AM
Well it says "BOOM!" [roll0] force damage but I doubt it matters..

Well, it depends which room you mean because there is more then 1 of those, and the bullseye is painted in front of the door, not on it.

It charges you!

[roll1]
[roll2]

Eurus
2010-01-08, 04:35 AM
Ah, okay. Anyway, the enemy misses. "Is that the best you can do?"

[roll0]
[roll1]

Sliver
2010-01-08, 04:42 AM
Well sure, it's down, but that hit of his might have been a crit so..

[roll0]
[roll1]

Anyway, 150xp.

Eurus
2010-01-08, 04:44 AM
No loot this time? Aw.

(It occurs to me that actually searching the rooms might be prudent, but searching is for nerds.)

Anyway, Gravedigger heals up and heads to the next nearest unexplored room, whatever it may be.

Sliver
2010-01-08, 04:57 AM
I believe you didn't deal with the room north of chest, right?

In the room there is a tall, hobgoblin-looking hairy, horny (with horns) creature with a nice leather armor and scimitar.
Initiative [roll0]

Eurus
2010-01-08, 04:59 AM
Nope, haven't dealt with that yet.

Eurus
2010-01-08, 05:53 AM
Neat. Gravedigger will stick the loot on his horse (including the potion, since his Tomb-Tainted Soul makes it a liability) and head to the next closest unexplored room.

Sliver
2010-01-08, 05:59 AM
Just west of the room there is a green card hanging from the wall.
If you read it:
It reads "You've Been Poisoned. Have Fun.” Darn immunity..

Going into a random room...

There are three squirrels hanging from the walls at 5, 10 and 15 elevations.

Around a fire are sitting 2 humans. A better look reveals one of them to be an elf and the other has another set of sharp teeth. They have equipment. There is a door at A5 south, E5 south and D1. You are at A5, the elf is 1. Mr Toothy is 2.

Sliver

"Evening? How can you tell?"

The elf charges you:

[roll0]
[roll1]

Obscuring mist fills the room, in which Mr. Toothy disappears. The elf is at the edge so he still gets the benefits.

Eurus

Gravedigger takes a diagonal 5-foot step to enter the edge of the mist himself, if possible. He then attacks the elf.

Eurus
2010-01-08, 08:46 PM
Uh-oh.

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-09, 02:30 AM
You drop. You are unconscious, blinded, and stunned for rounds, then blinded and stunned for 1d4[/roll] (rolled outside) rounds, and then stunned for 1 round. When the effects are over, you see the elf is on the floor as well, just wakes up too.

New initiative [roll1]

The mist is still there..

Eurus
2010-01-09, 02:31 AM
How odd.

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-09, 02:32 AM

[roll0]
[roll1]
[roll2]

Against FF and prone. Standing up will provoke..

Eurus
2010-01-09, 03:10 AM
He still misses. Gravedigger will stand up, provoking the attack, then try to Charnel Touch him as usual.

2010-01-09, 03:34 PM
Well, I'm a non-ToB melee character. I use Charnel Touch instead of mundane attacks, but the principle is the same. There's not much I can do besides hit things. :smallsigh:

Eurus
2010-01-10, 01:34 AM
Miss.

[roll0]
[roll1]
[roll2]

EDIT: Waaait. *Looks at his last attack roll*

If an 18 missed this guy's touch AC, I'm fighting a losing battle here. I should probably cut my losses and run.

EDIT 2: Oh, it was the miss chance. But I only rolled a d10 by mistake. That means a miss would have been a 1 or 2, right?

Sliver
2010-01-10, 01:38 AM
Oh I didn't notice you started rolling d10.. You killed it..

75xp, longsword, longbow, 10 arrows. You also discover that all money from you and the elf has disappeared.

Eurus
2010-01-10, 01:51 AM
Oh dang. Is the fog still in the room?

Sliver
2010-01-10, 01:55 AM
It clears up quickly.

Eurus
2010-01-10, 01:56 AM
Revealing an otherwise empty room?

Sliver
2010-01-10, 02:00 AM
There is that fire, but yeah..

Eurus
2010-01-10, 02:20 AM
"...This is not good."

Gravedigger scoops up the weapons, heals himself, and runs back to his horse to check on it.

Sliver
2010-01-10, 02:22 AM
Notes: If your gold was with your horse then it was not lost.. The horse is safe.

Eurus
2010-01-10, 02:35 AM
Well that's a relief. Yeah, I've been dumping off all of the loot with the horse in case I get hosed down with acid, or something.

Although that means there's still a random larcenous spellcaster with pointy teeth hiding out somewhere... Hm. Not much I can do about that except hope that he's not still roaming the hallways.

Gravedigger will put the horse back in the starting room and shut the doors as he leaves, before he goes to check on the next room. The longsword and his javelins are stored with the horse, but he'll keep the longbow and arrows.

Sliver
2010-01-10, 02:44 AM
Alright.. East of the Mr. Toothy room:

{table]|A_|B_|C_

4|||
5| ||C [/table]
There is a door at A-2, which you are just outside of and another at C1 east. There is a large lever with a bright red handle in the center of the room. There is a cake in the southeast corner of the room, on a tray bolted to the floor, with frosting reading something. . A note attached to the wall above the cake reads something else.

Eurus
2010-01-10, 02:51 AM
Gravedigger reads the note, and if it says "The cake is a lie," he may get violent. :smallamused:

Sliver
2010-01-10, 02:54 AM
Well.. There is something else on that note too...

"The Cake Is A Lie. The Room Is A Trap.”

Eurus
2010-01-10, 02:59 AM
I suppose that's a little better. Gravedigger will take the note's word for it, then, and leave. Next room!

There are doors at A3 west and E3 east. You are outside A3.
A string of 4 notes hangs in the center of the room. [/spoiler]

Eurus
2010-01-10, 03:09 AM
"Perhaps they've running out of monsters."

Gravedigger walks up and reads the notes, from left to right.

Sliver
2010-01-10, 03:17 AM
The first 3 notes read: "Fools rush in where angels dare not tread”, and “The follies of youth are best left behind”, and “See reverse side for care instructions”. Do you read the other side or continue to the forth?

Eurus
2010-01-10, 03:18 AM
Yeah, why not. I'll check the backs of all of the notes, for that matter.

Sliver
2010-01-10, 03:30 AM
“There is a reward in this room. The next note says where.” and the last note “KABOOM!”

As the last card explodes, dealing [roll0] force damage, the ceiling starts to fall. [roll1] bludgeoning damage (DC15 reflex negates)

A sack falls to the ground..

Eurus
2010-01-10, 03:39 AM
Ouch.

[roll0]

Is the entire ceiling falling, or just a few big chunks? Not enough to bury Gravedigger, I hope...

Sliver
2010-01-10, 03:41 AM
Yeah, not enough.. You have almost dodged it too!

Hay is sticking out of the sack btw..

Eurus
2010-01-10, 03:50 AM
Well then. Gravedigger will slowly patch himself up before checking out the bag.

Sliver
2010-01-10, 04:15 AM
The bag is stuffed with hay.

Eurus
2010-01-10, 11:53 AM
Gravedigger will pull the hay out and sift through it to see if there's anything else in the bag.

Sliver
2010-01-10, 11:56 AM
Two potions (identical).

Eurus
2010-01-10, 12:07 PM
Cool, then he'll dust himself off and go stash them back with the horse. How many unexplored rooms are left?

Sliver
2010-01-10, 12:12 PM
That depends.. It would also help me if you could list the encounters you have won (a lot of different dungeons to follow.. Sorry). I count 3-4 unexplored..

Eurus
2010-01-10, 12:30 PM
No problem. Actually, I remember that I went to the room with the krenshar, but decided against actually fighting it, so why don't I just go back there.

Sliver
2010-01-10, 12:33 PM
IIRC, that's the one..

Opening the door reveals the following room:
{table]|A_|B_|C_|D_|E_
1|||||
2|||||
3|||||
4||||B|H[/table]
There is a door at A-2, which you are just outside of, another at E-4, south side and another at E-3. There is a human wearing a chain shirt and holding a longsword standing behind a beast with patchy dark fur that covers its unhealthy shrunken black skin in some places. Open sores dot its hide and a feral, catlike head glances with it's blank eyes at the wall in front of it.
Initiative:[roll0]

Eurus
2010-01-10, 01:17 PM
Actually, come to think of it, I'm not certain what the cat thing is. For some reason, the first time I read that description I thought it sounded a lot more krenshar-like.

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-10, 01:38 PM
Oh you only have +1 from dex.. Then he starts..

He moves into the center of the room, the beast vanishes and he casts a color spray at you. Will save.

Eurus
2010-01-10, 01:43 PM
Yuck, not again. Hope I don't get CdGed...

[roll0]

Sliver
2010-01-10, 01:43 PM
Not yet. Your turn.

Eurus
2010-01-10, 01:46 PM
Well, I'll try to move into melee with the human. Does the other thing take an AoO?

Sliver
2010-01-10, 01:47 PM
Oh you only have +1 from dex.. Then he starts..

He moves into the center of the room, the beast vanishes and he casts a color spray at you. Will save.

Wanna guess?

Eurus
2010-01-10, 01:51 PM
Hey, I don't know if it vanished because it was an illusion, because it turned invisible, or what. :smalltongue:

I'll assume for now that it's the former, though.

[roll0]
[roll1]

Sliver
2010-01-10, 01:52 PM
He moves back and demands another rainbowy will save.

Eurus

Warforged have 25% fortification, right?

EDIT: Aaand none of them were 25 or less. Shame. Even with DR, then, I'm dead. Lovely.

Sliver
2010-01-10, 02:06 PM
Right. Which can only negate the critical, not normal damage.

Eurus
2010-01-10, 02:09 PM
Game over, then.
