Is there a prestige class or base class that can enhance its spellcasting abilities through the use of blood? Either a willing victim, unwilling victim, or themselves?

Response is greatly appreciated.

Yes, Tainted Scholar in Heroes of Horror does exactly this. It requires that you use a corruption mechanic though, which may or may not appeal to you.

There is the MahoTsukai PrC from OA. It's 3.0, uses the Taint mechanics, and is pretty setting specific but it can use blood (your own or a willing/helpless victim).

Blood Magus from CArcane. It's not terribly powerful, but for 1 point of damage, you can obviate non-costly spell components and raise the caster level of your spells by 1. Unfortunately it does have pre-reqs of toughness and great fortitude...

Blood Magus in CArc. Not as good as it sounds, but the Capstone allows you to teleport into someone. Very nice.

Edit: Also, it pulls the very blood out of ninjas.

Dude, what DOESN'T? I mean, they're Tier 4 at best. I could pull the blood out of them with a BARD. :smalltongue:

Sstoopidtallkid was making a joke at the fact he was ninja'd by Kylarra.

It seems, like the only real way to use blood as part of spell-flinging is through Tainted Scholar, as all the rest only sub blood for material components.

The blood magus can also hit himself for 3 points to boost damage by 1d6 on all spell targets that take HP damage.

EDIT: I like what they did with the blood magus in 4e. The flavor's quite good, and you don't need eyeroll-inspiring feats to qualify for the paragon path.

No. MahoTsukai can use blood to apply metamagic for free/less at a rate of one temporary con damage per spell level increase. Double cost if you use someone else's blood.

Not true - Blood Magus actually strengthens its spells with blood (increasing CL) in addition to just Eschewing Materials with it.

The best part is that you can gain that ability (and a few more, like Scribe Scroll on your skin and Brew Potion in your blood) without losing caster levels. If you were planning to get those feats anyway, it somewhat makes up for the wasted feats to enter the class.

Interestingly, Blood Magus advances Fort rather than Will.

Maho Tsukai could be awesome. You can trade in spellcasting ability from one class to gain Maho Tsukai spellcasting instead but it makes no mention of losing any class features other than spellcasting. Go Druid 19/Maho Tsukai 1. You have all of the class features of a druid but Maho Tsukai spellcasting.

To be fair Maho have a fairly limited list and are spontaneous casters. Interestignly they also advance Fort instead of Will.

Nice... Maho Tsukai/Blood Magus would actually be pretty flavourful.

Maho Tsukai is both setting specific (Taint requirement only though) and 3.0. So some of it's spells might have to be changed/scrapped if they don't exist anymore. Also their spell list is basically "Kill. Kill. Evil. Taint. Kill. Evil..." It's got a bunch of SoD but no buffs at all and only like 4 crowd control spells. So not a potential batman wizard but with nothing but SoD and your DC's being based off of Taint it should just kill everything...

Tome has an LA +0 vampire template (http://dungeons.wikia.com/wiki/Tome_of_Necromancy_%283.5e_Sourcebook%29/New_Rules#Vampire). The racial paragon class lets them store a "blood pool" which they can use to heal or power metamagic.

Check out the Instruments of the Blood Gift set from the Magic Item Compendium. They're in the "magic item sets" chapter and do exactly what you want.

The tainted Sorcerer from Unearthed Arcana can you blood to eliminate all (even costly) material components. It is overpowered though, because the table for the HP cost caps at 700 gp and everything over that only cost 21 hp.

It comes at a price though since you have to **** yourself up beyond belief with taint.
