Here's a question for all you weird and wonderful people. Which character with a 2 or single class combination can have the most power points ?

I was thinking Psion + Meta Mind. The ability to store power points in a crystal as well as use Psi powers without using your daily pp's pretty cool for someone looking to conserve as well as have MASSIVE amounts of pp's.

Here's the question - Do the Pp's you get from the two stack ? Also - Do you manifester levels stack ? So if you go psion 10/metamind 10 will you still have a manifester level of 20 ? And will you be able to use 9th level abilities (or whatever the highest level psionic "spells" are called.

As you can tell - I'm a complete noob in psionics.

All PPs gained go into a single pool. Metamind is a pretty bad way to go about acquiring more effective PP, tho- your base pool is based on your levels in the base class and your bonus PP are direcly based on manifester level, and Metamind only offers half progression for that. If you go Psion 20 you will have 343 PP before you calculate your bonus (at a conservative Int 30, 100 more.) Psion 10/Metamind 10 will have an effective Psion level of 15, which is only 195 base and 75 bonus. That's a 173 point gap you have to try and make up with the Metamind's abilities. It's only really worthwhile if you can find some huge task to do with Font of Power.

I don't know most of the Psion abbreviations - what are some these things you guys speak of ? On a related note - is it possible to have multiple cognizant crystals or to create multiple cognizant crystals ? Pehaps with a ability similar to the Wizards Minor/Creation spells ? If you go Psion 20 (as you mentioned) - is it possible to create a coupla dozen crystals to use then for everyday powers ?

The Midnight Augmentation (Magic of Incarnum) feat let's you invest essentia points to reduce the power point cost of one psychic power. Essentia points are pretty hard to come by, and your maximum essentia investment is limited by your hit die and a few other factors - it usually tops out around 5-7ish. But you can get them by taking levels of an Incarnum class (Totemist, Incarnate, Soulborn, various PrC) or by taking incarnum feats (there are a couple dozen of them, and many of them are useful). If you have one particular power that you know you'll be using often - like Hustle or Vigor - you can save a lot of power points by using this trick.

I'd also add the importance of buying one or more Mindfeeder (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Mindfeeder) weapons with a high crit, like a scythe. Before you do your morning buffs, coup de grace a chicken to gain a ton of power points. Keep a spare in case you run out towards the end of the day.

Put these two things together, and you should be set for power points, regardless of your build.

Infinite PP:
bestow power with earth power, linked power, metapower (any level 1 power with linked power).

manifest lvl 1 power linked to bestow power. You gained 2 PP for only using 1PP. Rinse and repeat till full. Nova every encounter! Have rock dropped on you. No save.

Could add wild surge to make it faster or just to save on your feats since earth power needs 2 feats.

Psionic Cascade+Cancer Mage Levels=Multiple powers/round. Makes Metamind worth something as you basically get a nova every X rounds.

Yeah, Metamind is only useful if you can take multiple/unlimited actions for several rounds, or if you're already level 20. (A Psion 15/Metamind 10 and a Psion 25 have the same PP pool.)

Trying to multiclass a single level into another psionic classe, with Practiced Manifester, generally won't work out well. A Psychic Warrior 12 with 20 WIS has 73 PP, while a Psychic Warrior 10/War Mind 1/Psionic Monk 1 with 20 WIS, Practiced Manifester (War Mind) and Practiced Manifester (Psionic Monk) has 79 PP. While with enough stats, you could be a Psion/Lurk/Psychic Rogue/Psychic Warrior/Ardent/War Mind/Psionic Monk/Zerth Cenobite/Wilder with more PP than a standard Psion, that will require a ton of feats and very high INT/WIS/CHA to make a major contribution.

Yes, you can have multiple Cognizance Crystals. Remember, though, that you can only use one source to pay for a power (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicPowersOverview.htm#usingStoredPowerPoints). So if you have a crystal with 17 PP, you can't expend in and use another 3 PP for a 20 PP power - you either need to spend 17 PP (or less) from the crystal or spend it all from your PP pool.

Someone should probably also point out to you that cognizance crystals are rechargeable. During down time re-fill any empty cognizance crystals you have so that you can use them while adventuring. This is also useful for lending another party member PP when he's running low and you're not.
