I can't, I get confused within the first few letters.

Only when I'm drunk

Aye.

*Tries it out to make sure.*

Bit rusty, but I still can. :smalltongue:

Yes. Drunk or sober.

Nope. Lost it on Ä.

Yup. One of a number of useless abilities I worked on while growing up simply because I got bored frequently.

It starts with X, right?

EDIT: Hey, has anyone noticed how the entire alphabet is in alphabetical order? Weird.

Are you kidding? I can't spell 'em forwards!

It helps to think of the keys on a phone, I can't imagine them all backwards at once but I know the number 9 has WXYZ on it. 8 has TUV. So rather than remember the whole sequence I just remember the numbers 2-9 and count the letters backwards.

Only if I'm looking at it.

I can't think of any particular reason I would need to be able to do this.

Nevertheless, apparently I can. Good for me? :smallconfused:

From texting or from familiarity with a touch-tone phone? One is mildly horrifying, the other merely quirky.

Yes. The latin ABC, at least.
Otherwise I get lost at stroked/dotted/caudata characters :smallannoyed:

I'd say a little of each but I'm no text addict. Phones have had letters on them for a long time. Before Texting. (Oh and we've never had any kind of 0600-GET-PIZZA type numbers in this country, although I think that's common in the US.)

Ever notice how a calculator has a different layout from a phone.

Calc:
789
456
123

Phone
123
456
789

This is why I can never seem to do sums on my Phone calculator.

Oh, I'm trackin' that they had letters on 'em for a good couple-few decades. I think I'm the last vestige of the land-lines in my generation. (They are, ja. I think they think they're being clever.)

... Huh. I'd never noticed that before. Learn something new every day.

I'd read somewhere that the reason calculators and phones are arranged differently was to slow down the dialing done by accountants, etc. who had to add things up all day (and thus were very fast with a calculator/adding machine) so they couldn't dial faster than the phone company's switching system could respond. Now they're stuck that way due to historical precedent.

No, no I cannot.

I seriously hope I never ever get pulled over for a sobriety test. :smalleek:

Yeah yeah... but you had to spell that forwards first.
