View Full Version : Insanowar 11, OR The Most Gloriously Violent Crossover Imaginable... IN SPACE!

Welcome to the Insanowar... IN SPACE!

Normal Insanowar stuff (note that much of this is likely overridden by something following it)
Da Rules:
1.) There are five players, each of which represent a commander of their army.

2.) Each player takes turns choosing some powerful character, semi-powerful group of characters, or large mob of expendable non-characters from any sort of media. Examples: The TMNTs, a Dreadnought from 40K, a mob of kobolds.

3.) When each player has 10 selections, the game begins.

4.) A map will be provided showing the layout of the battlefield. Each person will have a base of operations with which they can wage war. Note that each base is about 2 turns away from each other.

5.) A static turn order is established. In each turn, the player dictates what their troops are doing, as far as the opponent can see. Secret actions need not be reported (although it is good sportsmanship to give hints as to what your are planning).

6.) When troops engage, the person whose turn the engagement took place on decides the outcome, which will usually NOT be all one way. If there is any friendly dispute (and the dispute WILL be friendly, or else), other players/playgrounders chime in with their opinions. If no consensus is reached, it's a 50/50 slaughter.

7.) The winner is the one who wins.

Da Guidelinez:
1.) You can't choose anyone TOO powerful. No gods, demigods, anything like that. Make it something that's about the same power level as the other troops on the field.

2.) Don't be a jerk. The objective here is to have fun--frankly, who wins and who loses is pretty arbitrary anyway. This game is definitely straddling the line between Silly and Structured.

3.) Respect Awesomeness. If a player is pulling off something that's just too awesome to believe, that should aid his victory.

4.) Enjoy yourself. Seriously, guys.

Details for Insanowar IN SPACE! Includes rules and map. If something in this contradicts with the normal Insanowar stuff, this overrides it.
Insanowar...

IN SPACE!
http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/9836/spaceinsano.png

The black is, obviously, space.

The blue circles represent space stations. These have repair functions and such that you would typically expect of sci-fi space stations, but are unarmed.

The five circles outside the middle and the colored areas between them represent asteroids, with the circles representing concentrated asteroid fields. The asteroid concentration between the circles is the same, and the differing look of thickness is from the Inkscape tool I used to make this thing.

The red circle represents a plasma/ion storm, with the tendril-like bits being areas where the storm lashes out at its surroundings.

Now, the unique environment of SPACE! Insanowar presents a few issues of its own. How big can you get? How do superweapons work? Have no fear, these questions will all be answered.

The top of the size bracket would be something around the size of the Executor, the Super Star Destroyer seen in SW Episodes V and VI. It would come without its fighter complement, however, which must come as a separate pick.

Likewise, in the case of superweapons, a ship must come without its superweapon initially as a pick, and the superweapon will come as a second pick. This means that to get something like the Eclipse-a Super Star Destroyer type thing with a superlaser weapon-you would have to spend 3 picks on it to get it up to full-the ship, the fighter complement, and the superlaser. This becomes extremely important, as I will explain later.

A note on the map: The asteroid fields are meant to be harmful to larger ships, as they find it hard to avoid hitting them due to their sheer size. The plasma/ion storm is meant to be harmful to smaller ships, due to them not having as powerful shielding against such things as larger ships.

Finally, and importantly, there will be only 5 picks in SPACE! Insanowar. This is to encourage more tactical thinking on the players' part, as giant superweapons like the Eclipse, described earlier, take up most of your picks when fully outfitted!

Special thanks to Wolfbane for helping to iron out the details on this one.

Oh hey, look, thread. Finally.

Let the picking begin!

NOTE: Wolfbane and EleventhHour have told me that they plan on using custom fleets and as such can simply name all of their picks at once since no one's going to pick anything only they know of before they can, obviously. This, hopefully, will help to speed things along.

Anyway, I'll start.

Pick 1: The Executor (sans fighter complement,as the rules dictated)
http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/thumb/2/20/SW_Executor_01.jpg/800px-SW_Executor_01.jpg

Wolf and EH can name their fleets at any time, so Phantom's next normally, then BR.

I have an idea that I'd like to pass by the rest of you. Do you all think it'd be possible to make this a bit more "reactive" than active? Like in ffrp. My point is that, if the person who does the actions decides the outcome of the fight, it could be potentially...ugly. We have fewer things to work with than in normal Insanowar, and they're (on average), much more powerful. If we make it so the person who the action is against decides the outcome it could take out most of the hostility that seems to have killed off more than a few other Insanowar games(provided we're all good sports about it).

I'm wanting this mostly to make the combat go smoother and to help kill off the limit of godmoddyness. Anything that doesn't effect another play outright is still okay as an action though. Of course, I'm still wanting to keep the Rule of Cool in play (If its suitably epic, consider letting them get away with it provided they've been able to prepare things or it seems reasonable)

Does this sound okay to everyone?

It could work, but now I have to think of something else for my pick.

I got it. The Millennium Falcon.

That's a bit... low-powered for a pick. Tuned up or no, an armed light freighter does not equal a Super Star Destroyer. Just saying.

Erinyes Corvette : x 60

Engines : -
• Sublight : Retropulse Ion Engines
• FTL : Wormhole Delver
Reactor : Diametric Magnetic-Cycler
Weapons : -
• Missle-type : 3 Forward Locked GITs, 10 Ringmounted Miniprowler Cruise Missles
• Energy-type : 4 Diluminal Lasers
Armour : Photonic Absorbative/Diamond Weave with ablative and energy dispersion.
Shields : - Nil, nothing, nadda -
Misc's : Subatomic Meld Docking Clamps, Holographic Projectors, Cloaking Field
Size : 500 meters long, 400 meters wide, 100 meters tall
Description :
http://johneaves.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/starship-b.jpg - in black.

Nessecary Explainations :

GITs : Torpedos that fire with a barebones tracking system, most of it's length taken up by propulsion and the explosive itself, which upon mixing causes superdense Implosions, dragging nearby material together, then bursting back outwards in a fragmentation.

MWFR : They're advanced nuclear missles, that split into six seperate warheads along the flight path. "Ball" mounts have a complete coverage of one side, unable to rotate backward through the ship itself.

MRM : Missles that can make extremely tight corners, and track through target signal and magnetic seeking...

Lasers : Unlike Phasers, blasters, pulsar beams, or any number of other SciFi energy weapons, Lasers follow the rules they were supposed to, nigh undetectable being a photon's width large, and invisible in space where there's no atmosphere for light dissolution. Pew pew.

MPCM : Miniprowlers are specially designed missles that can be fired while cloaked, and carry highly explosive charges, and drilltips. Armed to explode just after impact, giving time for the drillhead to create a rivethole for the directed blast.

Ringmount A ring mount is a cylinder hooked to the side of the ship, with a missle tube pointing out of each side. These normally contain 4 shots at a time, and rotate in order to assure maximum accuracy, and minimum flight time.

Armour : Both types of armour are made to deflect radar, sensors, light, and almost everything but visual contact. ...but how the heck are you going to spot a tiny ship that's 100,000 Km away firing missles at you?

Holoprojectors : Normally used to simulate an undisrupted starfield in case of close-fire missions, or for those paticularly invasive sensors.

Clamps : These specially designed melding clamps can merge with just about anything solid. Combat use? ...Just about nil. Unless you let them lock onto your windshield and try to fly away with it, or something.

Drones/Salvage Bays : Just for collecting loose metal. Thier small and float around, unarmed. Once again : Unless you let something spend twenty minutes trying to 'salvage' your windshield with a laser cutter.

Picks, in my mind at least, should not be measured by what someone already has. Unless it's something like picking each piece of the Triforce or something, in other words an instant-win button-but this is hardly an instant win button.

Keep a few things in mind:

I deliberately picked the Borg Sphere instead of a Borg Cube to keep zomgpower down.

Sovereign cannot simply mind control everyone. You have to be in the bloody thing, and I know you all aren't so stupid as to board the thing (not to imply that you're stupid, but I was lacking a better phrase).

My power is highly concentrated thus far in Sovereign, Executor, and the Sphere.

Not to mention that the two forms of mind control (Soverign & Borg) aren't compatible at all. And the Soveriegn is hilariously ungunned for a ship of it's size.

Map's in the first post as always. On stations: I'll be the top, Wolf's the right, Phantom's bottom right, BR's bottom left, and Elly is left.

Top Station

The Executor exits hyperspace with the missile boats and its fighters in tow at the top station, Sovereign and the Borg Sphere not far behind.

Admiral Firmus Piett, in command of the Executor, attempts to open a comm channel to the Sphere and Sovereign, knowing to some extent that they were on the same side. The Borg respond only with their typical jargon.

"We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."

Piett quickly ordered the crew to cut communications with the Borg. Sovereign, however, initiated communications itself. Naturally, though, it avoids revealing its fully-robotic nature.

"The half-synths are preparing to board your vessel. Send your commanding officer to our ship and we may discuss this further, without the risk of our communications being intercepted."

Piett frowned. This could all too easily be a trap. But that Sphere's communications suggested that it was accurate. He, with several stormtrooper guards, boarded a shuttle and went over to Sovereign.

Meanwhile, the Collective faced a dilemma. Scans suggested that the Executor's shields were too strong for the Sphere to break without extra firepower. The Sphere is promptly hailed by none other than Sovereign.

"I am aware of your intentions to assimilate the organics' craft, half-synths. I have arranged for their commanding officer to board me. You will arrive before he does in order to assimilate him."

The Collective was just as ignorant of Sovereign's nature as Piett, sending a drone force over to arrange the assimilation of Admiral Piett... and Sovereign itself. But it doesn't know why that won't work...

Once Piett arrives, he and his escort are surrounded by drones. The stormtroopers gun down several before they adapt, and then all is silent...

And so the game begins with betrayal in the depths of space...

The call came out from The Nameless. "All ships, Full deceleration!"

All 8 ships of The Alliance groaned as they slowed from their more than impressive speeds. The Comms Officer looks back at Admiral Trevenar Ta'lok. "All ships are commencing full deceleration, sir. What are their orders?"

The Admiral watches the hologram of the surrounding area, frowning as he sees the massive size of the ships that had arrived before them. Too bad they were out of accurate range of his railguns.

For now.

"Tell them to go to Defensive Formation Atredes and get the Legion fighters prepped for launch."

The ships begin to move, following his orders.

Meanwhile...

On The Kraken, the alarms blare, cutting the friendly game of strip poke the four flight leaders had been playing. For some reason the ladies always seemed to win. Waykle thought they cheated at the game, and Hicks...well, he just didn't care.

After the obligatory cutscene of them getting their clothes back on, the four and their teams lined up in the nearly empty fighter bays as Bronstrom, Captain of the ship inspected them.

"Listen up! We've come to the ass end of nowhere with orders from the higherups. I don't know why we're here, and frankly, I don't give a ****, but what I do know is that you hundred are the best of the best, survivors of a dozen wars, trained on the harshest of death worlds, and you're the biggest baddest SOB's out there!"

He walks down the line, looking them up and down. "When we started out 20 years ago, this ship was once packed to the brim with you, and others like you, but we're the last and I plan on keeping it that way by dammit."

His speech stops as he adjusts Waykle's uniform slightly. "I don't know what's waiting for us out there, but I have complete faith that you will be able to handle it." He salutes the men and women in front of him. "Now, prepare your ships and get ready for a fight."

With one final salute, they follow his orders.

Admiral Piett and his guard had been assimilated by now, granting the Collective access to pretty much everything there is to know about the Executor. A transmission, using Piett's voice, is sent to the Executor.

"Lower your shields."

An odd order, surely, but not following orders-or just incompetence-tends to get you killed in the Empire. Especially if there's a Sith Lord around. Executor's shields are lowered.

Borg immediately beam into the bridge tower, taking the Executor crew by surprise and quickly taking over. Assimilation of the bridge commences in order to take control of the ship.

Meanwhile, a similar event occurs in the dreadnought's crew quarters, ending with the portion of the ship's crew not on active duty being assimilated.

The interior of the Executor is now in utter chaos.

Finally, there is a new conflict on Sovereign itself. The Borg are attempting to assimilate the Reaper, but seem to be unable to take control of it. But there's something odd happening to the portion of the Collective on the Sphere/Sovereign/Executor now. Like a voice whispering in its many drones' heads...

Admiral Ta'lok sighs as his ships move. It had been a hard 20 years. Their fleet had been one of the most impressive of it's time. The once 100 beautiful ships reduced to a mere 8. He remembered The Leviathan, easily 10 times larger and 1000 times more massive than his own The Nameless. It had sported hundreds of guns, heavy shields, and the finest crew imaginable. He remembered when it cracked in twain, the asteroid guns of the V'traan having hit it with a planetkiller. He closes his eyes as he recalled the scene of both halves falling into the sun they had battled over.

All hands lost.

The Peregrine, his head stealth ship, barely larger than one of the Legion Fighters. A beautifully sleek ship, crashed into an insurrectionist's cruiser, it's drive having malfunctioned and the fail-safes fried.

All hands presumed lost. Eaten by it's own black hole, no way to tell if they're alive or dead.

The list goes on. He remembered the death of all 92 main ships, and he tried to do his best to remember all of the thousands of dead fighters and bombers. But he couldn't, there were just too many. Just too damned many. Men, women, children. It had been impossible to restrict family forming in the situation they lived in. He had actually encouraged it. Families kept morale up. Children, even more so.

The Admiral sighs and visits the most important piece of equipment in the fleet. The coffee machine. With a fresh cup of coffee, he heads back to the bridge, settling in for a long day. Analyzing the holomap of the surrounding area, he nods.

"Helmsman, send Hades and Inferno on heading 300 degrees by 300 degrees (Towards The Phantom's fleet, slighting above). Let's test out their defenses and get this started."

The assimilation of the sections of the Executor mentioned previously is becoming all too obvious, the bridge tower, for example, beginning to show Borg traits.

Borg control of the ship is becoming stronger and stronger, drones moving to assimilate weapons, engines, and, well, most of the ship in general, really. The Executor will be fully assimilated at this rate. Borg control of the ship is nigh-absolute.

Meanwhile, Sovereign has done something... interesting. It has implanted the assimilated Admiral Piett with its own cybernetics, granting the Reaper control over the assimilated admiral...and also subverting the Collective further, granting Sovereign access to its information.

Including information on Executor's apparent weaknesses and strengths. Sovereign does not like what it finds regarding the Executor's bridge tower. So... exposed. Weak. Inefficient. Many of the things the Reapers have come to loathe.

But it also knows the Collective is taking control of the ship, and that the bridge tower will be completely obsolete soon enough. This doesn't satiate the Reaper, though. In fact...

"You exist because we allow it."

Sovereign levels its two-kilometer long main gun toward the base of the unshielded Executor's bridge tower and blasts it clean off of the ship.

The Borg attempt to retaliate, but find that they cannot.

"You will serve because we demand it."

Notable Events
The Borg are being indoctrinated.

Bwahahahahaha. I'm aware indoctrination doesn't work that fast, but I figured I had to speed it up if Sovereign was to have any purpose other than a generic dreadnought. Besides, most of the time Sovereign probably wouldn't be trying that hard, but against something actively undermining it? Yeah. It'll certainly be toned down if anyone's stupid enough to board it, though. But I doubt that...

The cruiser targeted by the Star Cruisers starts to show the wear of battle, explosions blossoming on its hull and its fire slacking a bit - but by no means stopping, as it and its companion continue to press onwards, energy pulses locking onto a Star Cruiser and pummeling it mercilessly.

Fighter combat continues, a wild furball developing around the larger ships, as X-Wings, A-Wings and Darts explode or spin wildly out of control from asymeticial thrust....

About one-quarter of the Darts on the scene of the battle, however, don't seem to be attacking. Rather, regrouping...

And suddenly they turn as one, going to full throttle and setting a direct, straight-line, high-speed course at the Star Defender.

These are the Darts whose cruiser, a moment ago, was destroyed.

And when Wraith pilots have their home ship destroyed, they go kamakaze.

[Also Lower Right]

The boarding shutttles get picked up in a hurry, and the cruiser switches its fire to point-defense, energy balls the size of small fighters streaking out to intercept them.

It's about this time the missiles arrive.

This Cruiser takes a direct hit to its right "wing", and its fire ceases, lights flickering as the blast disrupts the internal power grid.

The Darts from the Hive note this new threat, and promptly turn to intercept...

The White Stars remain in reconnasiance mode, their crews not at all sure what to make of the wild four-way furball.

[Right]

A flare of energy heralds the return of the armed Leviathian to normal space, and its massive cannon extends, power levels rapidly rising as it swivels to target The Kraken.

The 'battleship' is further away, but closing fast.

The Grand Cruiser, floating slowly out of the asteroid field, finally gets close enough for the inscribed marking to be read down it's side... 034TH Oh. Isn't that reassuring. The rings of torpedos shift as it reloads, at a slow precise speed outside of the threaten zone, and then with a spin like a flywheel, they unload hundreds of missles, leaving the heavier torpedos waiting for a closer threat.

...the target? The biggest thing on the field. The Viscount. In the meantime, the atom thin beams of a dozen lasers lance out invisibly, and attempt to "slash" through as many darts in one sweep as possible.

The Executor is moving, likely prompted by the attack on the Borg/Reaper force. The Borgrified Star Dreadnought is headed toward the asteroid field, where it promptly begins targeting asteroids with turbolasers.

This has rather predictable results, destroying many asteroids. Any of the Erinyes Corvettes exposed by the asteroid purge will have turbolaser barrages sent their way.

Meanwhile, the Borg have integrated transporter technology into Sovereign and the Executor.

Fleet List

1 Executor-class Star Dreadnought- Executor- Assimilated/???
1 Borg Sphere - ???
1 Reaper Vanguard- Sovereign - Amplified with Borg structural regeneration/transporters
Standard Executor Fighter Complement (TIE Interceptors/TIE Bombers) - Assimilated
20 Missile Boats - Assimilated

As soon as the enemy ship arrives, they'll see all 100 fighters deploying from The Kraken. The particle cannons on the ship also swivel towards the intruder.

The other ships align to protect the Carrier from the ship that is on it's way.

Meanwhile...

On the station, the second piece of machinery is put in, and it starts making...things.

Bottom-Right

The boarding shuttles go into evasive maneuvers, but a few are still hit. Huh, it's odd though. Only a few of those hit seem to be carrying people.

"Have the fighters stop those ships from hitting us. And move away from the large ships, head toward foward 45 degrees. And get the shields up to full power."

The wings contonate on the darts trying to hit the Star Defender, as the Star Defender and Cruisers start heading for the right, firing at the darts heading for them.

The damaged Wraith Cruiser restores propulson, and resumes firing, albeit at a somewhat lower rate than before, firing away at the closest Star Cruiser. While its comrade, being pounded by the Star Cruisers, suffers a secondary explosion, a plume of vapor, fiery at its base but rapidly snuffing out in the vacuum of space, showing the damage to be mortal.

Its crew, however, will not go quietly into that dark night, and powers their hyperdrive, a greenish-blue distortion in space shimmering, blossoming, then stabilising, the two remaining (of four) engines driving the cruiser into the hyperspace window...

Hm. Wonder what it's up to.

More and more Darts explode, both in duels with the fighters, from lucky missile and beam hits, and from the Viscount's point defense. About 9, however, manage to make it through, and slam, at about .45c, into the Star Defender's shields...

People or not carrying people, the boarding shuttles will continue to be fired at, the Wraith ship's gunners...deliberatly not allowing a clean sweep, but letting some get through.

After all, they won't say no to a free lunch, if the enemy is so agreeable as to send it delivery.

Meanwhile, the White Stars break off, heading for...

...heading in this direction. Pirates are the one enemy everybody can agree on. (Even other pirates). And so they head...in the direction the Leviathan already is in, its Sonic Ascendency Cannon primed, aimed, and now firing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK1LvaUohf8) at The Kraken!

The space battleship following it swings its triple main shock-cannon turrets out, targeting a light cruiser, and firing, each turret's three beams fired in a rotating pattern that coalesces into a single, amplified beam, each lancing out at the cruiser's hull...

And, oh, hey, is that a Wraith Hiveship coming up behind it?

[Lower Left]

The two Victory-class destroyers remaining here finally power up their drives, and advance in the direction of The Kraken.

The 034TH pauses for a moment, then raises "up" in the spatial sense above the battle as a sort of overwatch, then begins raining missles on the ships below, mostly the Viscount for being the largest target, it recieves the first salvo of torpedos fired so far.

Surprise!

Well, the Borg-Reapers were looking for Corvettes, so they decided to have a little fun. Pinging random missles off the shields from the relative safety of asteroids, then fleeing. They don't really seem to mind that thier shots aren't doing damage, and they're mostly just trying to stay out of the line of fire...

Lower Right - Right - Lower... just the battle in General

And from blank space, to all but the most extensive of sensors, missles start flying. Never from the same spot, and even the contrails seem to indicate that the firing ships aren't moving in the same direction for more than a few seconds. No paticular targets, just misslefrenzy for everyone!

Talyn is able to blast open a part of the the hull, exposing a bulkhead to vacuum before the interior blast doors shut it off from the rest of the ship, killing any fires(and people) who had been there. It's a rather impressive feat all things considering. Especially since The Kraken is about 30 times Talyn's length...

The little ship will soon find itself being swarmed by one flight of Fighters and being shot at by The Kraken's plasma cannon while the others make their way to shoot down the Battleship.

As for the Light Cruiser Maelstrus, most of the energy beam is deflected, but due to some fault, some of the blast gets through, melting through the hull and reaching critical system, damaging the gravity drive. Before anyone on the ship can say anything, there is a sudden flash of blackness and all the ships nearby will be pulled a little closer together. The light cruiser is now adrift, half of it simply vanished as it's black hole became unstable.

Lets hope the battleship hadn't been too close.

As for the Hiveship, it's going to find itself the target of Cerberus' rail gun as well as finding The Fates turning towards it, it's rails crackling as colossal energies prepare to be released.

(It should be noted that Talyn and the Battleship will find themselves in the middle of the fleet.)

The boarding shuttles are now too close to be hit, and should slam into the ship on BR's turn.

[Right, Station]

The specially built bombs are boarded onto several shuttles, to be sent to different ships.

3 Dreadnought Class Fenrir Pattern Heavy Cruisers. (The Furies, The Fates, and The Nameless)
3 Titan Class Promethium Pattern Light Cruisers (Maelstrus, Cerberus, Hades, Inferno)
1 Poseidon Class Carrier (The Kraken) Lightly Damaged
100 Legion Class Fighters (4 Squadrons of 25, Hick's Hellcats, Waykle's Wolves, Joan's Jets and Alice's Adders)

As the missles and the darts fire around the ships, Admiral Ackbar makes a decision.

"We have to revise our battle plan, head to the center. Use the tractor beams as well as the turbolasers to clear our path."

And so, the Star Cruisers and Defender head for the centeral energy storm, using what they got to try and stay alive a little longer.

As the Star Cruisers start their turn to head to the centre, suddenly, only about 200 kilomters away from them, the greenish-blue distortion of a hyperspace window opens, and that crippled Wraith Cruiser emerges, its remaining engine (one of the two remaining having blown out due to the stress of the hyperspace jump) blazing full-throttle as it blazes in torwards one of the Star Cruisers.

The intent was to ram head-on. However the SCs' turn means this is out of the question now, however a sideswipe, on the other hand...

Darts, meanwhile, start exploding from missile hits.

The boarding shuttles arrive! Locking onto the remaining cruiser's hull, which they'll find is very thick, and...organic.
As if the Cruiser had been grown instead of built.

The cruiser, meanwhile, dodges missiles and keeps firing at the Star Cruisers.

(Right)

Talyn's defense screen starts absorbing hits from fighter weapons, however the plasma shots are of more concern. So it turns away from the battle and starts powering up for Starburst.

The space battleship, meanwhile, also turns, opening up with its pulse-laser AAA as its engines strain to pull it away from the sudden appearance of a gravity well.

The glowing of the railgun rails of The Fates attracts the attention of the arriving White Stars, which pull in for a particle-beam strafing run, even as the Hiveship takes a railgun hit to the right side, ripping a nice hole through it...but not showing too much collateral damage, surprisingly, as its own energy weapons, more powerful versions of those on the cruisers, open up, targeting Cerebrus.

Have you ever seen Macross Missle Massacre? Maybe the TVTropes page, if not the show itself? Think of that, millions upon millions of missles, rockets, torpedeos and multiplie warheads leaving trailers of white in the black abyss, the tubular bodies streaming closer, arching in from so many different trajectories that it seems more like a ring of incoming explosives, some going wild, or just missing in general... but there are still far too many missles to count, all converging on the Viscount.

Invisibly following behind, is a few dozen of the tiny corvettes, using the missles as cover for thier movment, and hoping the explosions will cloud sensors...
