Mind Crush
Wizard/Sorceror 8
Range: 10 ft/+2 ft/level
Save: Will save, with a -2 penalty
Spell resistance: yes
Target: One enemy with at least 1hp
Using your arcane power, you crush your opponent's mind with your own.
Due to the high amount of concentration required to focus your mind, you take a -3 penalty to concentration checks for this spell.
If the spell is sucessfully cast, the opponent is immediately brought down to 0 hp and is knocked unconcious.

What do you think?

Shouldn't it be mind-affecting?:smallconfused:

This spell does not cause enough personal trauma.

It's an absurdly short range 8th level spell with a mediocre effect that hits one target, and you take penalties to cast it, and the only benefit is that the DC is effectively two higher? And it's mind affecting, so most enemies are immune?

Yeah... 5th level spell, maybe? Not 8th.

5th level looks about right to me (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/psychicCrush.htm).

Shouldn't you need to have just defeated the foe in a children's card game for this to be effective?

I was just thinking this should have a psionic version too.....

To be honest, I originally put it as 5th-level. I just thought 5th would be too low for a spell like that.

nah even without the similiar psionic power it feels about right for 5th compare to say slay living..

If you wanna make it 8th level make it -

- Devour the subject's soul - this allows you to acquire knowledge that the subject previously had such as spells (so not only can the subject not be resurrected short of true resurrection (or whatever spell removes the 'loss of soul' condition... maybe that's divine intervention), you learn new spells! Just remember to write them down before you 'forget' them. Also, you know other things like oh... I don't know, private embarrassing stuff about the subject.).
- Make the subject's now inert body rupture and explode, dealing damage to nearby creatures.

Or permanent mental trauma that forces said person to become your ally/ best friend.

Or, you could just make it break their mind. As in, crush it. Make 'em mindless.

And increase the range, and take away the penalty to Concentration.

This seems to be the best option; "the target now has Int --, no way to reverse it short of constructing a new personality from scratch, sucks to be them" would definitely bump it up a few levels.

I'd see it damaging intelligence and forcing a save a day later or become mindless.

Just for the lulz

I'd just like to point out that psionic crush grants a +4 on the save so I'd say this is at least level 6, but that it is definitely worse than Final Rebuke (death or stun) so not level 7.
