Well hello GiTP community.

I have a challenge for you all...explain your life up to this point in six words. Exactly. No more, no less.

This comes from an old "Life" Magazine challenge, but it's pretty old, so I thought I'd get some new internet community data about it.

Rules, Lovely Rules

First, some lovely rules. Please keep it to six words and only six words. This means no explainations about your six words. The only other words on a post should be comments of others. All forum rules apply, so please keep it clean. Please don't be derogatory to others' six words.

Now that that's cleared up...I'll go first:

Forget the torpedoes, full speed ahead!

Have fun!

Not six words, but that reminds me of an assignment handed out in a university to a class. They were tasked with writing a short story involving religion, romance and mystery in as few words as possible.
The only story to get an A+ was as follows:

Don't read, unless you're ready to be sad... :smallfrown:
Fathered children. Buried son. Had another.

And in response to the inevitable questions:
About ten years ago, while I was deployed to California on a training mission, my wife took our kids (a daughter and a son) swimming. While out and about with a bunch of Navy SEALs, I came down with some sort of bacterial infection in my stomach, that somehow opened up a blood vein in my stomach. I was slowly bleeding to death, and didn't even know it. I went to bed, figuring if I still felt sick in the morning, I would go to the ER. About midnight or so, someone came to wake me up because the training officer had something important to tell me. I collapsed from blood loss halfway down the stairs, and two big Frogs (a nickname for SEALs, short for Frogmen) picked me up and carried me to sickbay. They rushed me to the ER, where the doctors stopped the bleeding and put EIGHT pints of blood into me.

The next day, when I woke up and asked what was the thing the TO wanted to tell me, I was told that my son Alex had been involved in a swimming accident, and was in a coma. I flew back to Hawaii, and three days later gave the hospital permission to withdraw life support as the EEG showed no brain activity.

The doctors in California said I would have bled to death in my sleep if they hadn't come to tell me...

Ten years later, it still hurts. But our little family is still together, still moving forward together.

I sort of knew where Rich was going in this strip (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0496.html) long before he got there. I remember hoping that Roy's little brother wouldn't be named Alex. I would have ended up crying...

I don't think I ever commented on that strip when it came out. Too painful.
