I've been pondering possible shenanigans with this spell. Would it enable you to throw your weapon across dimensional boundaries? And since it's technically an AoE, would that also mean that invisible targets could be hit as well?

"Targets within an AoE do not need to be percieved to be affected" - would this line indicate that miss chance (from invis.) on the attack is negated?

the idea seems strange, but awesome if it works like that.

1: You could indeed affect Incorporeal or Ethereal creatures, but that's about as far as you will get. You don't have line of effect/sight to any other planes of existence, so you can't chuck them into, oh, the Plane of Fire.

2: If you knew the creature's general location, then you could try. But, IIRC, Whirling Blade requires an attack roll of some kind. You wouldn't be able to declare that you are using it against the invisible creature specifically, but you would be able to target their general location. If this is the spell I'm thinking it is then you wouldn't be able to affect the creature without rolling the miss chance, even though it is technically an AoE.

What about incorporeals? they're listed in the description for transdimensional (CAr p.84)

Yes, you can affect them with it too.

Edit: Oh, that clarified your post nicely. You meant the miss chance against incorporeal opponents! You need to word that question better.

A Transdimensional spell never suffers the miss chance imposed by a creature's Incorporeal nature. In addition, they deal full damage to incorporeal creatures.
