...how Miko managed to get a message from Azure City to the dwarven lands, and back again, in the span of a day or so?

She was presumably on foot (horse), seeing as she had to pass through the way station here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0368.html).

I don't think this was necessarily an oversight, I just can't for the life of me remember how it happened.

Assuming Miko arrived at the watchtower at the same time Elan was being thrown in jail, that leaves three days for her to make it back to the city. The Order was delayed due to an unfortunate teleport mishap. Three days of hard riding (likely without rest breaks) is plenty of time.

As for getting there, Miko had however much time it took to get to the Oracle on foot.

What makes you think she got there and back in a day or so? During the period she was travelling to the Dwarven Lands and back on horseback, the Order got from Azure City to the Oracle and back on foot, and also had the entire Cliffport side mission. It was almost certainly weeks, not a day, especially considering she had a celestial mount who was probably faster and less prone to tiring than a normal horse.

Oh, and note that Xykon moved his entire army of 30,000 hobgoblins from the city in the mountains to Azure City in around the same time period (they were starting out as the Order were asking the Oracle their questions).

Judging from from the climate differences and the geographical hints we have seen it is a distance of thousands of kilometers. No three days hard ride is not enough. It is weeks of journey.

Three days from a watchtower in Azure City lands to Azure City proper. That's more than reasonable.

You seem to be forgetting that this was the -last- and -closest- watchtower to Azure City itself, and that Xykon explicitly states that he allows Miko to escape because she can only get to Azure City about a day before the army.

A single rider can easily outpace a whole army, so the only way this makes sense is if the army is only a few days from Azure City.

Durkon gave Shojo the message before the order left Azure City. That means Miko would have the entire time it took the order to travel to the Oracle, travel back to Azure City, teleport to Cliffport to beat Nale, and three days after the teleport mishap. We have no idea how long it takes to get to the Oracle and back so it could very well be possible.

edit: Also keep in mind that the order was WALKING on foot and Miko RODE A HORSE so she traveled much faster.

Oh right. The oracle side quest. I forgot about that.

The Cliffport arch does not count for much. It took three days.

Three days would have made all the difference. Without that delay the Order would have teleported off to the Western Continent to look for Girard's Gate and wouldn't have been there when Azure City was attacked. Chances are the quest would have ended there; even with Soon in the throne room, with Xykon and his army in complete control of the city, they've got plenty of time to figure out how to deal with that little problem!

Um, Miko stated the distance between Azure City and Northern Lands was mere 80 strips :smalltongue:

You also cannot forget that they took weeks to remove the dragon's treasure from the starmetal cave. Of course the length of time to find the Order could be to her single rank in survival. Knowing exactly where your destination is would shorten the time required to reach your destination by a lot.

Tsukiko healed (or rather unhealed since he's undead) Xykon before he entered the throne room. Whether Roy attacked him or not he'd have been at full HP when he entered the throne room. The only difference would be he'd have the zombie dragon but that wouldn't be able to attack the ghost martyrs.

if she is the main paladin that constantly is sent on really long missions to far off lands, chances are she has some type of distance enchantment that allows her to go further faster.

Haley's comment in #412 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0412.html) implies that she was afflicted with aphasia for around six weeks. So, let's say it took ~2 weeks to get from the wrecked inn to Azure City and maybe 3 weeks to get from Azure City to the dwarven lands.

Also, Roy says that Sunken Valley is "a few days from here." (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0318.html)

Haley says here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0532.html) that "Cliffport is way more than four weeks north of [Azure City], even if we somehow manage to get our hands on horses". Presumably the Dwarven lands are a good distance further still.

That said, Miko was likely riding at full gallop the whole way whereas Haley and co. wouldn't.
