You awaken in the center of a 10ft by 15ft room with stone walls, ceilings, and floors. A torch is burning on the wall behind you, while the other three walls have closed, metal doors with brackets allowing you to bar them from the inside. Unfortunately, only two metal rods are lying on the floor.

Thom stands up and brushes himself off, quickly appraising the situation.
Utilizing the bars, he blocks off the south and east doors, then checks to see if his quarterstaff would be able to fit in the north bracket. (Just in case.)

Regardless of weather it can or not, he then casts Prestidigitation.
Finally, and with a tight grip on his Crossbow, Thom attempts to quietly open the door a crack- enough to provide him cover while being able to shoot if neccisary.

[roll0] Move Silently.

(Reading up on specialist wizards, it would seem I get an additional spell per day of my specialist school. I'm gonna go ahead and make that Charm Person. Also, forgot to fill in my bonus languages. Gonna take Elven, Dwarven, Draconic and Orcish)

Yeah, just a bit busy, what with college starting up and such. Doing a bit of catchup atm.

The quarterstaff does indeed fit in the slots to bar the door, and while it's likely not as sturdy as the metal rods, it would certainly be much more secure than an unbarred door.

You enter a 10ft wide room, 30 ft long, with another wooden door on the far side. In the room is four kobolds(F1, E1, E2, C2). A small fire is flickering on the floor(D2)

The E1 kobold is the only one who heard you, and thus, is the only one who gets to act with you in the surprise round:

Init for all of them, in order listed above:

Init: [roll0]

Well, if I had complete suprise I'd use it to bump my init and cast a spell, but since there's someone else going in the suprise round, that's not going to be possible.. so

Crossbow to the overly attentive one!
[roll1]
if it hits, Damage!
[roll2]

On his action, Thom reloads his crossbow, provoking an attack of opportunity as normal for anyone in melee :)

The kobold drops with the bolt sticking out of his eye dead before he hits the ground. The other three spring into action and grab thier spears. The first one aims and shots a pebble your way before the other two act.

[roll1] Damage

(Woo! Update :D)

That's a miss on the pebble. Thom's reloading, so the other two get to go.

Luckilly that doesn't confirm. My DR 2/Cold Iron stops most of what got through, so down to 5 HP.

I believe Kobold 1 with the sling beat me on init, so he's going to get a go.

Is the door I'm hiding behind shuttable, or are the Kobolds blocking it?

Should you want to retreat its an AoO but they are not in the way. You could bar the door but unless you do just that they can force it open.

Sling attack

Thanks to being in melee/behind cover that's a miss.

Alright. Guess I'll try my luck.

Thom 5 foot steps to J-2, then fires at one of the melee Kobolds

Damage, if luck is with me

That's 2 hits, but 0 damage.

I assume they fully opened the door in order to enter the room?

If so, I should have LoS on all 3 Kobolds, so I'm going to 5 foot step back and cast Sleep.

Will DC 17, affects up to 4 HD, starting with the closest.

A few things, You did not say you shut the door nor could you, if you took a 5 foot step. To quote the SRD

A spell that takes 1 round to cast is a full-round action. It comes into effect just before the beginning of your turn in the round after you began casting the spell. You then act normally after the spell is completed.

You can cast sleep now but it wont take effect until next turn but you still get to target where they have move too.

No, I haddn't ever shut the door, but when I opened it I specified I was keeping it mostly closed to use as cover. If it was still mostly closed, it could count as blocking terrain. (Can't cast spells at an area if you don't have LoS to the area IIRC) That's the part I wanted to address.

Action remains the same, Sleep goes off on my next init I suppose.

Now to pray I can survive 3 hits XD

Ok just so we are clear.

The three kobolds swarm the room and poke at you with their spears. Should you have a melee weapon available you can make an AoO on one of them. (For simplicity sake the one before you has delayed to after you.)

#2 hits, but no damage. Also he made the save. Lucky Kobold.

I have a Dagger, but haven't drawn it yet, so no AoO for me.

I believe that makes it my action, yes?
If so, 5 foot step to the left and Charm Person on the awake Kobold.

DC 17 Will. This fails I'm a sad wizard :(

If he makes this he is getting levels in badass...

[roll0]

The goblin sees his comrades fall to the ground sleeping and nudges one awake. He then moves around behind you to stop you movement.

OoC: Ouch

Well, I suppose that's one action I get anyhow... I'm going to full retreat out of the room, to C1.From the Kobold positions, I'm pretty sure they can't get to me in a single move... so at least I've bought a round.

This is gonna get ugly.
