So, Washington Post has set up a poll for what readers think is the best webcomic. Among such household names included good ol' OotS, Penny Arcade, Girl Genius, and the Perry Bible Fellowship. At the moment, it's a tight race between XKCD and Least I Could Do. Why not support your favorite webcomic with an irrelevant poll? Vote now! (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/comic-riffs/2010/01/the_best_webcomic_its_time_to.html)

They're missing the obvious choice here. http://www.mspaintadventures.com/phpBB3/images/smilies/mspa_face.gif

In this case, you simply increased the chance that playgrounders see the site and vote.

Surprised LICD is doing that well - most of the people I've talked to that read it don't seem to like it all that much - it kind of falls into the category of "still check for updates, but it's not really that great."

It and LFG are the only two webcomics I've ever started reading and subsequently quit.

Nothing about that poll should surprise you; it's remarkably easy to cheat.

I just poked at LICD's archives. Good Lord, I want to sue everybody involved with the comic and the vote fraud for stealing two minutes of my life. I think I could even use some Dominic Deegan to clear my eyes out.

Wow. I kept clicking through comics in the LICD archives, hoping that after a couple of weeks it would start to get better.

It didn't.

Thanks for the tip about LICD. You just saved me minutes of life!

I had to vote for Penny Arcade tho. I have only been reading OTOS since 2006, but Penny Arcade was around all 10 years and updates very frequently. :smalleek:

After Penny Arcade, OTOS would have been my second choice, followed by xkcd.

OotS is my favorite, update for update, followed by xkcd and Penny Arcade (though I'm not sure which order they go in.) Girl Genius is good, but not as funny as the preceding and the plot gets glacially slow at times. I've only read a few PvP strips, which seemed like a poor man's Penny Arcade. LICD, as has been mentioned is pretty awful.

Haven't read the rest.

Edit: Yeah, LICD winning is probably teh haxxorz. The votes were going differently early on. Or possibly the author is doing some serious votemongering.

LICD is an extremely popular comic.
The writer and artist plugged the competition on their twitter accounts. Possibly some of their friends too.
It is at the top of the site newspost.

Seems legit.

The final round of this poll has begun. The finalists are:

Girl Genius
Hark! A Vagrant
Least I Could Do
Penny Arcade
Perry Bible Fellowship
Schlock Mercenary
xkcd
It will close at 11:59 pm on Wednesday, February 10. I can't speak for time zone, but I assume it's... american? >.>

At the moment, they are ALL at 14% each. Go make a difference (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/comic-riffs/2010/02/the_best_webcomic.html).
