Edit: additions in blue, changes in green
The main change is the addition of Tools of the Trade.
I should mention that my goal is for this class to balance against the ranger and barbarian, when those classes have the fighter bonus feats in addition to their normal features. This is meant as a ‘minor’ tweak to a ‘mostly core’ game. [/edit]

In an upcoming campaign, I plan to give all the non-full-casters the Fighter Bonus Feat schedule (Barbarian, Monks, Paladins, Rangers, etc.). Consequently, I should provide a reason to be a "Fighter" for those who will want that label for their character.

This fighter is considered to have received, first or second hand, formal military training. He will get more skill points, because the class is no longer especially privileged with feats compared to the other non-casters. The main theme is teamwork -- making his allies better without direct benefit to himself. Every round of combat, the fighter will have one or more options for how to make his teammates more effective. The fighter will also excel at weapon proficiency and use. The secondary themes involve improvements to his own iterative attacks, and being very comfortable wearing armor.

Squad-Trained Fighter
Skills: same as PHB, plus Knowledge(History)
Special: a fighter can use a Knowledge(History) check to know the special powers or vulnerabilities of militaristic humanoids (the equivalent of a Knowledge(Nature/Local) check limited to those with a warband, sergeant, or lieutenant reference in the Organization description) and specific outsiders (the equivalent of a Knowledge(Planes) check limited to those from the Summon Monster spell series).
Skill Points at 1st Level: (6 + Int modifier) × 4.
Skill Points at Each Additional Level: 6 + Int modifier.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: same as PHB.

Bonus Feat
As PHB Fighter.

Teamwork
At first level, a fighter learns to use Aid Another as a Swift Action (normal: Aid Another is a standard action).
At third level, a fighter learns to use Aid Another to aid a ranged attack, but not a spell. The fighter must still be within his own melee reach of the target (normal: Aid Another only assists melee attacks).
At sixth level, a fighter learns to use Aid Another in place of any attack during a full attack (normal: Aid Another is a standard action).
At ninth level, a fighter learns to use Aid Another to aid an ally's iterative attack (normal: Aid Another assists an ally’s next attack).
At twelfth level, a fighter learns to use Aid Another to aid a ranged spell that has an attack roll. The fighter must still be within his own melee reach of the target (normal: Aid Another only assists melee attacks).
At fifteenth level, when a fighter uses Aid Another, the Aid Another bonus improves to +4.
At twentieth level, when a fighter uses Aid Another, the Aid Another bonus improves to +6.

Tools of the Trade
At second level, with an hour of training, a fighter adapts his fighting style to the virtues of specific weapon, gaining the equivalent of Weapon Focus with that weapon for all purposes including any feat or class prerequisites. A fighter can maintain up to 1 adapted weapon focus for every 2 fighter levels. When a fighter trains beyond his current capacity, he chooses which weapon he is no longer proficient with. In addition, a fighter can buy exotic weapon proficiency with 2 skill points (normal: exotic weapon proficiency is available with the feat Exotic Weapon Proficiency).
At fourth level, a fighter gains Weapon Specialization with any weapon for which he has a weapon focus.
At seventh level, a fighter gains Greater Weapon Focus with any weapon for which he has a weapon focus.
At eleventh level, a fighter gains Greater Weapon Specialization with any weapon for which he has a weapon focus.
At seventeenth level, a fighter gains Weapon Supremacy with any weapon for which he has a weapon focus.
Note: the Weapon Specialization, Greater Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Specialization and Weapon Supremacy feats are open to all classes.

Second Skin
At third level, a fighter learns to sleep in any armor without becoming fatigued.
At seventh level, a fighter learns to overcome the speed limitation imposed by his equipped armor.
At eleventh level, a fighter is only applies half of the armor check penalty of his equipped armor.
At sixteenth level, a fighter ignores the armor check penalty of his equipped armor, and ignores his equipped armor when calculating encumbrance.

Follow-up
At sixth level, when a fighter hits an opponent, he gets a +1 insight bonus to his next attack in the same round against the same opponent. This insight bonus improves to +2 at twelfth level. This insight bonus improves to +3 at eighteenth level.

The benefits are incredibly minor. At best, you get a passive +2 to your allies using aid another, and... some minor out of combat benefits, and a better full attack.

But don't you get this IN ADDITION to getting the fighter bonus feats? as in double fighter bonus feats?

No, you get the normal fighter feat progression, as does everybody else. Every martial class, excepting *maybe* a monk, has better class features than you get with this.

I plan to give all the non-full-casters the Fighter Bonus Feat schedule (Barbarian, Monks, Paladins, Rangers, etc.).

Fighter should be included here, and then its fine : ) He could use the bonuses too anyways, since feats become less valuable with your system.

All other full casters should still get bonus feats though, at a wizard rate.
1, 5, 10, 20. : )

I don't see how giving fighters the fighter bonus feat progression leads to them getting double the feats.

The fighter has the fighter bonus feat advancement.

He is giving all non casters the fighter bonus feat advancement.

The fighter already has the fighter bonus feat advancement, and gets nothing

Furthermore, even the table already shows it says it only gets normal bonus feats. I don't know how I can be more clear than the fact that the text and the table shows they only get single progression.

They don't get double the feats -- I was trying to avoid anyone thinking they don't get the traditional feats.

Kill those dead levels son. Kill them.

You have too many things happening on even levels.

Teamwork
At first level, a fighter learns to use Aid Another as a Swift Action (normal: Aid Another is a standard action).
This makes the fighter more of a splash class. Then again, if you give every non-full-caster the same feat schedule, every such class becomes a splash class.

This gives an ally +2 to hit 1/round, right?

At fourth level, a fighter learns to use Aid Another to aid a ranged attack, but not a spell. The fighter must still be within his own melee reach of the target (normal: Aid Another only assists melee attacks).
Meh.

At sixth level, a fighter learns to use Aid Another in place of any attack during a full attack (normal: Aid Another is a standard action).
So he can replace the -large attacks with +2 to an allies attack. Meh.

At nineth level, a fighter learns to use Aid Another to aid an ally's iterative attack (normal: Aid Another assists an ally’s next attack).
So, what? It applies to the full attack action? Or what?

At twelfth level, a fighter learns to use Aid Another to aid a ranged spell that has an attack roll. The fighter must still be within his own melee reach of the target (normal: Aid Another only assists melee attacks).
/shrug.

At fifteenth level, when a fighter uses Aid Another, the Aid Another bonus improves to +3.
Tiny. And this is past the point where the fighter is running into trouble. And you hand out a tiny bonus.

At twentieth level, when a fighter uses Aid Another, the Aid Another bonus improves to +4.
Also tiny.

Second Skin
At third level, a fighter learns to sleep in any armor without becoming fatigued.
Tiny, but fighters aren't that bad at this level.

At seventh level, a fighter learns to overcome the speed limitation imposed by his equipped armor.
Also pretty small, but isn't bad.

At eleventh level, a fighter only applies half of the armor check penalty of his equipped armor.
At sixteenth level, a fighter ignores the armor check penalty of his equipped armor, and ignores his equipped armor when calculating encumbrance.
/shrug.

Gaps between powers seem random.

Follow-up
At sixth level, when a fighter hits an opponent, he gets a +1 insight bonus to his next attack in the same round against the same opponent. This insight bonus improves to +2 at twelfth level. This insight bonus improves to +3 at eighteenth level.
Small and fiddly.

And why in the hell is this on even levels?

Just give them double the feats. . all those abilities are nothing compared to the martial classes OR the bonus feats that all others get, but if the fighters get double bonus feats they might still be worth taking : )

No, they wouldn't. Fighters are already underpowered when they get more than double the feats of other martial classes. Giving them double feats instead of class features means they are even worse, because A: they have less useful feats to take and B: because the % increase in feats is even less (assuming nonhuman, no flaws, it's 7 to 18 normally, now it's 18 to 29.)

Basically, your suggestion would drop fighters even lower, possibly below monks if they can flurry as a standard action and get full BAB (common houserules to make their class features synergize, at all.)

The Followup follows the level of when the fighter gets a new iterative attack.
